Feb 20, 2011 - Presidents' Week - Mexican Riviera

Actually no mail at all! Our flag is still up with outgoing mail-- Our mail-carrier never came. It HAS been snowing here all day... but what happened to that "Mailman pledge"... Neither rain, nor snow, nor dark of night..." or something like that! I know there is a blizzard going on out there, but doesn't she know I am waiting for my documents???:rotfl2:

Still haven't heard back from DCL regarding my "lost" $277 either.

Still can't book Disney excursion for new Cabo stop even though rep told me last night that they would be added "within the hour".

With all this snow in CT, 22 days can't pass quick enough!! I heard on the news tonight that CT ALREADY has more recorded snow in the month of January than any month in the history of the state! (AND we are supposed to be getting another 8"- 12" tonight!!! As long as it doesn't snow when we leave on the 17th!!!! :scared:

Tell me about it, I do not think I have seen a blade of grass here on Long Island in a few weeks... I am still trying to figure out dining at DL for two nights... any one have any good recommendations for quick service restaurants at Disneyland? I was tempted to try Napa Rose, but think I will save that for the next visit.

When we stay and the Grand Californian we always order from Carolina's Italian Restaurant. I think last time they even had a magazine in the room with coupons in it. We also eat at white water snacks during the day. We also venture out to Tortilla Joe's in downtown disney. We order at the outside window and eat on the patio. It doesn't seem to ever be too crowded. I hear there is a good sushi restaurant in Paradise Pier but have never been there. Hope that helps!

Today my kids wore shorts and t-shirts to school. :sunny:Mid 70s in San Pedro. :sunny:

What do you mean by "quick service restaurants at DL"? Are you referring to restaurants within the park or restaurants off site? Are you looking for something sit down or take out?

No cruise docs today but I did get an e-mail from my travel agent regarding the itinerary changes. I guess Disney is slowly getting the info out.

As for the Dismeet there is a thread on the mainboard that recommends meeting on the first day at 3pm at the Promenade Lounge. Here is a link to the thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2554307 . Personally I have no experience since this is my first cruise. :)

White Water Snacks was awesome for us when staying at the GC. We also like Rainforest Cafe. In the park itself, I recommend the Plaza Inn. Love their pasta and fried chicken. Plus, one of the few places you get free refills on your sodas. :)

Not all the excursions are available for day 5 yet, but the dolphin swims and ziplining are now available to book! Maybe others are available too (I didn't check everything) but the whale watching and beach breaks weren't available yet.

Word from the home front - our cruise docs came today! The cruise can't come soon enough for me.
This was part of the parking lot at my office in Cambridge MA today - and yes - the snow bank is double the height of the car. The one good thing was that it was sunny :)

Hi, all! I haven't been on for a while, but am back now and catching up - thanks for all the heads-up on the Mazatlan issue!

Our Dismeet for our cruise in November (the first one we ever participated in), was at 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge, and that seemed to work pretty well. Of course, I think our group was only about half the size of this one (all inclusive from front page, FE participants AND non-participants), so I'm not sure if that might be an issue - we'd might take up the entire place if everyone showed up, but that's probably okay. It seemed like things were pretty slow there at that time, and I'm not even sure the bar was open. But they were starting to decorate the life-size gingerbread house in the Lounge. It was amazing to see the carts full of gingerbread "bricks" arrive and the bricking process begin!

We've decided to not participate in the FE exchange, but would appreciate getting to meet you, especially for some of the kids to meet. (I'm excited to see the the number of 13 year-old boys on the list, since mine was the only one in our meet with about five 13 year-old girls on our last cruise! :rotfl: Some boys would have seen that as a bonus, but not mine - yet!)

We do not have cruise docs in WA yet (unless they arrived today while I'm at work), and we're having almost record-setting WARM temps here. It's interesting that it's such a staggered mailing...Maybe the addition of the Dream cruisers has made their mailroom go tilt!

See ya real soon!

I read on one of the other meet ups that the Disers sometimes identify themselves to each other, maybe we should do something too?

I believe that the ubiquitous "lime green Mickey head" (LGMH) is the "official" DISBoard calling card - they are paint chips in the shape of Mickey Heads and you can get them at Home Depot. Some of us have even been known to get them in various colors, peel them off (doesn't work that well for me) and put a magnet on the back as part of door decorations!

For our last couple Disney trips, I took the lime green chips (left them on the backing for this), printed my screen name on the Mickey head, then laminated two of them back to back and punched a hole to hang it from my small backpack that I often use instead of a purse. I don't think anyone's ever approached me about it, but it is supposed to "identify" us to the others!

Just got our cruise docs, too. Still lists Mazatlan and no added note that it is being replaced with 2nd Cabo, even though it was mailed after the decision was made. Ah well, good thing I read the DIS boards often :)

We're not part of FE exchange either. (I can just hear my husband rolling his eyes and saying, "We don't need more STUFF!" :confused3) I'm also interested in meeting up. I'm got a DD6 and DS8. DD is pretty shy so meeting people some people ahead of time would be great.

Oh and we're in CA and still no cruise docs here. We were very late to sign up for the cruise though and were GTY so I'm not really surprised.

We got our cruise docs today -- WooHoo :cool1:
Okay, how many of you actually read clauses 9-23 of the cruise contract - lol!

Got our cruise docs here in Sacramento today! Very exciting!

Went shopping with my niece and got swimsuits and cover ups today. Normally I laugh that swim suits are already in stores in January, but we were loving it this year. I think we are almost ready...

My niece (6) is also pretty shy so it would be nice to meet up so she can make some friends early on. I may need to make some friends too in case she leaves me for her new friends. Just let us know when and where and we will be there. Can't wait to meet everyone.

Hi Elaine,
I don't believe you have our cabin number yet. It's 2082. FE gifts are done. Now to tackle the actual fish extender. I don't sew, so it should be pretty interesting. Does anyone have any tips for no sewing fish extenders?

My dd is also 6 and can be shy in new situations. It will be nice for the kids to get to know each other on the first day of the cruise.

I can't believe it is a little over three weeks away. No travel docs here, but our TA told me they should arrive by Tues. Can't wait.

Ditto - cruise docs did arrive today, and I'm sure glad we read the DISboards! Thanks for all the info!

Feeling left out....no docs for us today. Hopefully tomorrow, which is my birthday so that would be a nice present!

Hi, Bchdreamer. Here's my no-sew FE from our November cruise. I used info from the FE thread; just type in "no-sew" and I think you'll find the post - I can't take credit for it, but I did probably do a bit of my own modifications.

It's all done with Heat n Bond and fusible interfacing. If you would like more instructions, please let me know. I posted them the other day on another thread, but can't find it now to copy!

The total length of mine is about 33". It's 8" wide, and the dowel at the top is 9" (you don't want it much wider than that or it doesn't fit on that little part of the wall that sticks out). The finished pockets were 6" tall by 11" wide, with a 1-1/2" pleat on each side (to give the pocket some depth. The pockets started 12" deep, then I folded them in half with the interfacing inside and fused it so that the top edge was "finished" by the fold. The backing is a piece of remnant felt; the black edging is double fold bias tape. I cut the shapes with a Cricut from fabric already fused to the heat n bond.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

Even though we're not participating in the exchange this time, you can bet I'm gonna hang it by my door for decoration! ;)
