Feb 20, 2011 - Presidents' Week - Mexican Riviera

No cruise docs for us today. :(

Anyone booking a second excursion for Cabo?

No cruise docs for us either.

We have the dolphin swim booked for the short day in Cabo but are looking for something to do on the new, longer day.

We also don't have much planned for PV. What is everyone else doing?

I want those cruise docs, it will ease the pain of my parents and brother embarking on the Dream tomorrow... (and the fact that it is my brother's second cruise on it).

No cruise docs for us either. Maybe because you are in Canada? Hmmmmm......

We are doing the canapy adventure in PV and don't have anything planned for Cabo. I think we may look at excursions now that we will be there two days. Has anyone done a canapy adventure in PV on another line? I am very nervous about the 90 ft.repel. I am hoping it isn't too adventureous.....I'm a bit of a chicken when going straight down.

Welcome sutter6/Vanessa! We're also from San Jose area. No problem regarding the FE - we have extras also. btw, we stayed at Wonder cabin 6116 for our 1st Disney cruise; great location!

With so many of us from San Jose, I hope someone says something while we are on the boat. I'd hate to miss meeting a fellow disboarder, on the same crusie, from the same city!

:dance3:

Thank you all for your kind replies and for including us. It sounds like the wonder will be filled with wonderful people.

We did not recieve our cruise documents either but I am hoping they arrive soon. I know it was mentioned earlier but how early do people advise us getting to the Boat on the 20th? Also, how do we get tickets to the Alice Tea and is there more than 1 tea per Cruise?

To be honest, I am a little nervous to get off the boat in Mexico at all considering the volatile climate there. I am not sure about Cabo or PV either at this point. Do you veterans feel comfortable that Disney will make sure that the excursions and transportation are safe? We were planning on getting off the ship in Cabo but had planned to stay aboard in PV. Am I just being paranoid?

II Californian and Wendy-We actually live in Morgan HIll, CA-Are you familiar? Also glad to hear that the cabin is nice.

Xmom-I mentioned to my 3 year old that your little girl was going to be on the cruise too, she was excited. We need to make sure they meet. She is very concerned about not know anyone.

I read on one of the other meet ups that the Disers sometimes identify themselves to each other, maybe we should do something too?

I'm right there with you. I've been trying to Google for Puerto Vallarta news in English to see what is happening there. If you go to http://mazmessenger.com/2011/01/24/violence-continues-to-plague-the-city/, you'll see what happened on early Friday morning in Mazatlan last week. Disney made the decision to pull out of Mazatlan public hours after this incident. :scared1:

I,ve been over at Cruise Critic reading all that stuff. Sounds like Disney made a smart call.

As for the other ports I'm not too worried. PV and Cabo were never mentioned in the state department warnings. Cabo in particular is in Baja and I think Baja has always been considered safer than mainland Mexico (with the exception of Tijuana of course). Of course I've also been in some scary neighborhoods here in good old California so maybe my judgement is a bit warped.

On to more fun topics. No cruise documents here. :headache: For excursions
We're doing Las Caletas in PV (although I'd love to do the zipline but that's a no go since the kiddie are too young). On the short Cabo day we've got 3 out of the 4 us scheduled with the dolphin excursion. I'm debating about whether I should rebook that for the new day so I can get all four of us in (at the moment I'm stuck as an observer since they only had 3 spots). I'm afraid dd6 will freak out about the dolphins though so having one adult that is not paying may be a good thing. Decisions, decisions, decisions. As for the long day in Cabo I'm thinking we'll just find a boat in port to take us out to the Arches and maybe Medano.

Well, for PV I booked the hotel/pool excursion with the water slides. I've been worried that the pools would be too crowded and my kids will just be dying to swim. In Cabo I have dolphin swim booked, for what now is our 2nd day. I didn't see a whole lot that I HAD to do. We may just do another one of those resort days, or let DS do the teen surf class.

Aurora76, I am so jealous! We haven't received our cruise documents yet either. I keep wondering if the delay is somehow related to the itinerary change like maybe they want to send out the letter in our packet of stuff??

I booked an independent beach horseback ride excursion for the second day in Cabo but will probably book a resort excursion for the first day once they open up the scheduling -- open, open, open. I also emailed a few of the resorts on Medano beach about day passes and have heard back from 3 of them. 2 of the 3 said, yes, no problem. The third said they only do it if the hotel is less than 80% occupancy. I would imagine that the hotels are not selling out anywhere in Mexico right now but I could be wrong.

XMom-We did the canopy tour with the same operator who is doing it this cruise for Disney and they are excellent. Very professional and safety conscious. Listen to their instructions, follow their rules and you will be fine. I was a little nervous about the repeling part too but once I saw a few people in front of me do it, I was fine. In fact, I'll bet that after you do it and unhook your harness, you will be doing a little happy dance

No cruise docs for me today.:sad2: Oh well, maybe tomorrow. I know everyone says you don't need them, but it would make the fact that it's only THREE AND A HALF WEEKS away seem more real.

And, maybe, I don't know, I would get my butt in gear and finish making my FE gifts!:scared1: Not sure what I'm waiting for...maybe this weekend. Do we have an updated list with the new people? Or should we just write them in on our won?

And are we doing a meet on boarding day? I know my kids are looking forward to making new friends, as am I!:yay:

I'm in Boston and will be back in Rochester Friday afternoon so I'll send an updated list out Friday evening to everyone I have an email address. I will plan on sending out a final list on February 12th if that is ok. I'll also bring copies with me on the ship for last minute updates.

I don't know if our cruise docs came or not. I hope they are there when I get home.

As for a meet on board we should plan it - it would be great to meet everyone we've gotten to know through this board over the past 13 months. If someone wants to suggest a good time and place I am open - especially if you've been to one that was at a good time and place. I can't remember exactly when the last one I attended was but I think it was pretty rushed so I don't have the best suggestions.

Another 12 inches of snow expected in Boston - there is more here than there is in Rochester. So looking forward to some good weather.

I called about something that didn't seem right in the documents and got a CS agent who just found about the change today. :rotfl2: He didn't have much info but said that the caller ahead of me got a tax credit because Mazatlan was more expensive than Cabo. He checked to see if I had the credit and I didn't. Has anyone else heard anything about a tax credit?

The Kodak area will be crazy that day. They close off part of Hollywood Bl around the area, and the main parking lot at the shopping center where Kodak is (Hollywood and Highland) will probably be closed off as well.

I like your idea of Santa Monica and Venice post-cruise, as its really close to LAX.

Thanks, that is what we will do then! :)

No docs here yet :(

I hope you are right about the happy dance. Grandma is coming with us on the excursion so I hope it is not too hard. I have never repelled and I guess I'm afraid I will go face first into the rocks!! Ouch...

Got our docs in the mail today. Funny enough my kids went to get the mail and when my oldest was coming in the house, he dropped the document envelope and said..."Hey look...Disney Cruise Line" I don't think he though twice about it as we get stuff from Disney here and there. Phew...

No docs for us yet, either. Also have not received any info on a tax credit but that sure would be welcomed :goodvibes
