FEB 20, 2010 Western MAGIC Cruise

Hi All!
5 weeks from today, hopefully from right now we'll be on the ship! So, why does the thought of FE slightly stress me out? Overthinging for sure...no one is going to judge on craftyness! My daughters are emailing a few of your daughters, so I really don't believe we are going to not participate...So...for a rookie cruiser and even rookier (such a word) fish exchanger...Little gifts are put in 1x a day, Sunday (first full day of cruising) thru Friday (last full day of cruising) Correct? So..right now with the current FE list, that would be 6 FE x 13 Dkids...right? It's the lack of vitamin D that is getting to my brain, I swear! Also...FE suggestions/cool ideas? Thanks for your patience! Can't wait to get my face and body warm:sunny: and my hands on a strawberry smoothie!!

I also LOVE seeing what you all are up to on the port days! Keep adding!

Shauna

Hi Shauna - I thought overwhelming at first as well. This will be our first time participating so I can only offer so much (maybe an experienced FE will chime in.) The cut off date is 1/30/10 so that will give us enough time to get goodies together. I think a daily gift is nice and it can be per room if you want. Some ideas I have seen candy, small party favor toys, pirate theme stuff, temp tatoos, stickers, magnets, nail polish, lip gloss for girls. I know my girls are excited to deliver gifts as much as coming back to the room look at their FE for treats. It will be fun:)

Hello all!

One of my best friends and I will be sailing with y'all!! We just book a week ago, we are in a cat. 6, not sure about what cabin yet. This is our first time on DCL and were going solo no kids just a girls week!! We are flying in the night before and staying at Country Inn and Suites Port Canaveral. We are so excited but disappointed we can't seem to get any Palo reservations. Guess you have to keep trying or try again once we get on board.

Can't wait!!

See y'all on board!
:hippie:

Just booked this cruise yesterday...my first Disney cruise! Hubby is an accountant and is quite busy right now so my good friend, Donna, is going with me (also her first Disney cruise). We are quite excited to say the least!

We don't have a fish extender, but we'd be happy to purchase one if there is enough interest in doing something and we would love to meet with y'all.

Hey Sue looks like we are both in the same boat, lol no pun intended, my hubby has to work too so one of my best friends and I are sailing on our first DC!!! Were so excited for a girls week! See ya on board!!

Hi,

I also have the second seating. I haven't booked any shore excursions, but am planning to take the Hop On/Hop Off bus in Key West. I've done that in several cities and it's a good way to see a lot of the town with the flexibility of getting off the bus to visit specific attractions/restaurants/shops and back on all day.

We've never participated in a FE that everyone did gifts everyday, we usually bring enough stuff for 2 days. Usually people end up picking different days to go around so there are gifts most days. Trying to bring enough stuff to deliver all 7 days seems like too much. I say do as much as you can/want without getting stressed/overwhelmed (that would kinda take the fun out of it, wouldn't it).

I'm soooo looking forward to hanging out at the beach - only 5 more weeks!

Anyone else book for next year yet? We ended up booking B2B on the Dream for February school vacation next year. It will be great to see the new ship and to do our first B2B (even if it is only a 4 and 3).

Updated!

Hi All!
5 weeks from today, hopefully from right now we'll be on the ship! ...
::yes::
Shauna
I can't wait. I'm tired of being cold, although it's a bit warmer here at the Jersey Shore today. I'm looking forward to food that I don't have to shop for, cook, serve or clean up. I don't even care if that food is any good right now, although DH and I have never had ANY complaints about DCL food. DH gained 12 POUNDS on our second cruise, and it was only four nights. He had to fly home from Florida to New Jersey in his bathing suit and a shirt since he just couldn't get any of his pants to fit. It might not have been so bad if it hadn't been the second week of December:rotfl2:! Now he's a bit more careful about what he eats. Perhaps only one visit to the ice cream machine on Deck 9 each day.

You can count us in for the DIS meet. Our names are Beth (that's me;)) and Jim, room 7125. We're not going to participate in the FE because we're two older folks trying to travel as light as possible for a two week trip!

As for shore excursions--

We're undecided about Key West. We have our Palo Brunch that morning and may be too stuffed to do anything more than stand at the dock and wish we hadn't eaten so much! We may just walk around and see what there is to see. By the way, there are usually plenty of Palo spots reserved for booking on boarding day. Just make sure to go to wherever they're taking reservations as soon as they open.

For Cozumel we're doing the Cozumel Highlights and Mayan Ruins tour. We need something that doesn't involve too much climbing (I have bad knees) and we like to get an overview of places we visit. We can decide whether we like the place enough to return on a vacation.

For Grand Cayman we've booked the Island Tour, for the same reason I mentioned above. Our granddaughter, who's 9 1/2 years old, thinks it's hilarious that her grandparents are going to Hell on their vacation.

We've booked both tours through DCL. Jim is a bit paranoid about booking anything NOT through the cruise line. He has friends who got left behind in port (not on DCL) because their tour not booked through the cruise line was delayed. The ship was long gone before they ever got back to the port!

For our day at Castaway Cay we'll probably head to Serenity Bay and enjoy some grown-up time. We share a house with my son and his family, (granddaughter 9 1/2, granddaugher 1 and grandson 1) so there isn't a lot of quiet time here! We love finding a quiet spot in the shade and just relaxing. I always bring my knitting or crocheting to enjoy, and swim if the water is warm enough. On my cruise in May, the weather so awful until late afternoon that I didn't even bother to get off the ship, so I'm really looking forward to that island atmosphere for a day! It's been a little bit more than two years since my last day on Castaway Cay.

I just happened to catch Magic sailing out on the Port Canaveral webcam. I can't wait to be ON the ship watching Port Canaveral slide past!

Beth

The first time we did the cruise we had the same issue with Palo. They have always asked when we board if we have a reservation. If not, they send you to a room where they will find a day and time for you.

Shauna...can you add us to the meet? I tried to PM, but it says I need more posts to be able to do that:confused3

Kelly and Mike with Piper (7), Avery (5), Bridget (3), Chase (3), and Trevor (3 months)...we're in 1068 and 1070

Sure thing, Kathy! See you there! What State do you call home?? Massachusetts?

Also,
Where are those Mexifinn's? Let's get the party started!

QUOTE]

One person in an earlier post (can't remember who) said that everyday was optional. Just do what you want... a few days or every day of the cruise. I'm thinking of bringing enough for 2-3 days. Maybe one day something for each kiddo and then on another day one item that the whole family can enjoy. This is my first fish extender exchange also so hopefully that is okay with everyone on he exchange. :hippie:

Finishing my FE today. I'm so excited about it and doing the exhchange. Looking forward to meeting everyone, too at the meet.

Alright, Holly, you hooked me- Karen, put Team Damboise down for FE...I think that the 2x is a GREAT IDEA!:thumbsup2 One for each kid, one x for the fam...

As for the Dry erase boards, was just at Tarjay (Target) and they had a ton in the 1$ section, Mostly Disney Pixar Movies- Good enough!

So, Holly...deets on your FE! Want to see pix! Upload? Where did you get instructions? Materials? VERY curious! :worship:

Looking forward to prepping for the cruise, have a giant tote in the bedroom to start stashing all our cruise related gear- just bought some more Coppertone...love sniffing that stuff! :rotfl:

Glad to be cruising with all of you!
