Feb.13th(lucky for some) 2010 Eastern Valentines Cruise - The Love Boat Sails Again !

I would respond with the little quotes above, but don't know how to do that. So......

Barbarasc--my DH's aunt's family is from Levittown, PA. Do you know the Maio family?

Ladies brunch--Betty and I will definitely be there. Can the Yankee gift be anything a woman would like to receive? I too thought of Derek Jeter and co. (My DD's license plate is MRSJETER) no kidding.

Just wanted to say that I am leaving for WDW Sat AM for a quick 3-day weekend, for DGD's 5th birthday, so I will be checking back here and PMs on Monday night. I checked the temp. on WESH and it looks pretty comfortable for the weekend. Fingers crossed!!

Talk to you all again on Monday, Linda

HUM....Maio....sounds familiar, find out what "section" they live in or what their street name is. How funny this all is, I worked for Reedman Auto for a few year, the largest car dealer on the East Coast, I bet your DH knows about it.

Have MRS JETER in at the WORLD this weekend.

I think a King Cake party sounds cool. I thought about bringing one with us. We are driving to the Port the day before we sail. I live in Louisiana so King Cakes are plentiful. I wonder if they will have Mass on Ash Wednesday?

I would think that may have a Mass or something close for Ash Wednesday! We will all need it after Tuesday ;)

This girl from the north has only seen a King Cake on the Travel Channel!

In that case a KING CAKE is a must have!!! I think a Fat Tuesday party has to be on the list of things to do this cruise.

I think we should advise security now! :lmao:

In your suite of course, right?:rotfl:

We are missing another holiday here....Monday is Presidents Day. So if we are looking for "reasons" to celebrate ~
Saturday- we finally get to meet each other!
Sunday - Valentine's Day
Monday- President's Day
Tuesday- Fat Tuesday (St. Maarten)
Wednesday- Ash Wednesday (St. Thomas)
Thursday- Ladies Lunch with wonderful Jeter-esque gifts for all :rotfl:
Friday- Castaway Cay day

How many do you think we should get? I'm sure if you get some, we'll all pitch in to pay for it/them. Bringing one is so much cheaper than shipping!

Barb, here are a couple of companies who ship beads, one in Gulfport, MS and the other in Slidell. But there are a lot online. They're pretty much all the same made in China beads--just go with the cheapest shipping!

I'm sure we would all chip in for some "real king" cake  Woohoo!

I am looking at beads now :3dglasses

That's great! After I wrote and sent that I thought that was presumptuous of me to assume everyone would pitch in. It's not that expensive anyway--I'm sure it wouldn't be more that a few bucks per person split 3 or 4 ways.
Happy bead hunting! :surfweb:

Cake did I hear cake??? Yes, count me in ;) Just let me know how much we owe. No problem.

Barb, I am shipping a box to the Magic, would you like me to add bead necklaces. I am a big............EBAY seller. I sell many Disney costumes & always have bead necklaces. I can add them to my box shipment. Just let me know.

Patricia,
I am intrigued by the whole shipping-a box-to-the ship thing and have never done it. Our airline charges $15.00 per bag. Am I better to pay that charge for an extra bag to hold the FE stuff or is it cheaper to send it ahead?

If sending, do you use USPS? UPS? FedEx? How far ahead do you send it?
Thanks!
Karen

I've shipped packages on 6 Disney cruises, including my Med cruise. I shipped to the Magic in Barcelona Spain. I was shocked my package USPS Priorty envelope for FE made it to the ship, unlike my luggage.:scared1: in Barcelona

I usually ship fedex ground (the cheapest includes insurance) about a 7 1/2 days before the cruise date.

This year I am shipping my toiletries, blow dryer, Beads, Yankee gift xchange & other things, that will be thrown out after the cruise. I figure the cost for Fedex Ground will be about $15.00 to ship box down, & I won't see it till I'm in my room. Check in bags at the airport will cost us 18.00 to 25.00 a bag to ship it down with CO.

This year, I am also sending a USPS priority envelope to the Hyatt. It is only costing me $5.00

The answer, it probably costs about the same (just less stress for me)

Patricia,
Is there a size or weight limit for the boxes?

Hi Clay, I know there is weight limit. I never really paid attention to it. My usually weights about 10 pounds. Not a huge........box, but an average size.

What I do, is follow Disney's guide lines, with the address, & the contents of box, room number sailing date, all the proper info outside the box.

Here's an old thread

Kim,

I carried my own wine on the ship (huge size) I purchased it the day before in Orlando at ABC, & carried in my bags on board. Gave it to my servers paid the fee & it basically followed us thru-out the cruise.

When we went to Palo dinner & brunch I let my servers know, & the wine was waiting for us. Next night it was with my servers again.

Patricia,

So you brought on large bottles? I've never purchased anything other than a normal size bottle of wine. I just hate to pay $30-35 for a cheap bottle of wine on the cruise that I might not even like, when I can pay about the same thing to bring on a couple bottles I like (my cost plus the $15 corking fee).

Did you see the response I got from someone about how you can bring a large glass with you and bring it to the dining rooms? Have you ever heard of that? I have not. But, it would be nice to be able to do that the day that we have our ladies lunch!

The last cruise I just brought beer on board and no wine. This time I think I'd like to bring some wine.

Also, as far as shipping or bringing on food --- I thought that you weren't allowed to bring on things like cake, etc. I really think that we saw someone last cruise that had made brownies and cupcakes and they made her throw them out before boarding.

Kim

From the DCL website:

Homemade, pre-cooked or other perishable items plus any open snack containers cannot be brought on board. Limitations on permitted food items are directly related to concerns for food safety and contamination prevention.

Disney Cruise Line regrets that the crew members on board are unable to provide food preparation, refrigeration or storage for personal food or beverage items. Disney Cruise Line cannot verify the cleanliness of the environment in which pre-cooked or homemade food items were prepared, and so for the safety of all Guests and crew, these items are not permitted aboard the ship.
