OK, so I'm excited that we've booked this last minute trip, jetblue ticket prices are great, but I'm am terrified to fly. This is an Anniversary, adult only trip and I'm afraid of leaving my kids and something happening to husband and I!!!! Any help out there!!!! I loved to hear your suggestions. We can Drive(a 24 drive) or fly(3 hour flight) HELP!!!:scared::scared::scared:

I've never been terrified to fly, but it used to make me rather anxious. I remember as a kid driving to WDW - 2 days down & 2 days back  I know some people drive to WDW & enjoy it, but for me: H*** NO!!! You can't beat flying to WDW, IMO. For us, it's a 2 hr flight - we take an early morning flight & we're in the parks by noon. Flying still makes me a little nervous, but it's easy for me to fly to WDW because it's so quick & the alternative to flying is just not an option.

I am exactly the opposite and there is NO WAY IN H*LL you are going to get me on a plane. I have never flown before and never will , no matter how much sooner it will get me to Mickey's House. We would still have to drive 1 1/2 hours to get to a major airport, so what is the point.

Our drive is only 6 to 7 hours and not that bad, especially since Dh drives and we have no children.

We want to go to Disneyland, but we will have to drive if we go and dh thinks he is going to convine me otherwise, but he isn't.

I know how you feel. Last year when we went as a family for our 1st trip I was freaking out before! I hadn't been on a plane in 12 years and that wasn't a great experience at all so I was really worried. The whole week before the trip my stomach was in knots all the time. I was almost going to call my doctor to see if she could prescribe something for the flight but I thought no I'm an adult I should be able to do this. Well we got on the plane and I was trying to act brave for the kids but inside I was screaming.:scared1: I actually think I had a mini panic attack during takeoff but once we were up I was fine. The flight home didn't bother me at all.

I think I just needed to get that first flight out of the way and even though I will never love flying I'm not scared anymore. Maybe this is a little strange but I kept thinking God would never let a plane full of families going to Disney crash, that would be just horrible.

I do understand leaving the kids and thinking something might happen because I do the same thing and we've never really gone anywhere without the kids. My sister goes on vacations all the time and everything is always fine, so just relax and enjoy the time together!:thumbsup2

I've never had a fear of flying, but if it makes you feel better JetBlue is a WONDERFUL airline! Everyone is so nice and we had the smoothest flight ever to Orlando and back! :goodvibes

I don't know that Im afraid to fly but it makes me extremely anxious. I call my Dr and she gives me Xanax, low dosage and this is the only time I use it. I do it one of 2 ways. Either I take 2 the night before to get a good nights sleep, that will take the edge off or I pop 1 about 1/2 hour before take off. I know I'm going to catch flack for this but it really does help.

I don't think you will catch flack for it, a lot of people have to do that to be able to fly. They don't make enough Xanax to get me to fly.

I was terrified to fly, not even 2 years ago. I got a self help CD that helped me, called Relieve Anxiety with Medical Hypnosis by Steven Gugevich.

I don't really endorse a whole lot of things... but this is something that really helped me. I've also had friends borrow it, and it helped them too. I suffer from panic attacks, and this has helped make a WORLD of difference. Before I had this cd, I actually had a panic attack on a plane... on the way to DIS actually. It was my honeymoon, and it was horrible. I got claustrophobic (did I spell that right?) and was sweating, oh it was bad. But SERIOUSLY, I bought this CD before my next flight, and listened to it pretty consistently. My next flight was a piece of cake. No panic attacks. I was very VERY calm.

I also endorse Bonine, if you get motion sick. I take it before every flight, and every day of my Dis trip. Less drowsy than Dramamine for me.

Hope this helps!! Believe me, I've been there!! :yay:

I suffer from panic attacks, but I have to fly for work quite a bit...valium! Better than Xanax for flying, Xanax takes too long to get through your system. Wear an Ipod, take a valium, and deep breathe. I get claustrophobic, too, and have control issues....I am not afraid to crash, I just hate that I can't get off the plane/am stuck in the plane, you know? We are actually driving to WDW in 3 weeks because my DH wants the kids to experience that and I am dreading that, too! I'd rather get to WDW faster!

Ditto on Xanax. :thumbsup2 Got mine all ready to go in the morning...LOL. I just think of it this way...if something were to happen, then at least my husband, son and I are all together.

Another thing, there is a WAY greater chance of us getting into an auto accident on the way to the airport than the dang plane crashing.
