Fear the Walking Dead - anyone?

Seriously? he sees trouble coming (I see him as no home life, no life so he's on the internet all the time and sees/reads stories about what's happening) so he tries to prepare. Gets a knife (lame one, but still, he tried) and tries to get food as he knows what's going to happen when the power goes out etc...That makes him crazy and a potential bad guy?

Exactly! Our instinct is to think, this kid knows what he's doing, he has it all together - hero for sure. And then BAM! He makes some big decision that screws other people over. No one is pinning him as a bad guy right now which is why he is the perfect bad guy.

I have been really, really looking forward to this show all summer - and so far not disappointed at all.

My only minor nit-pick is that Kim Dickens' character is too old to be named Madison. I don't think Madison was ever used as a girl's name prior to the movie Splash coming out.

Did anybody watch last night?

Guess I was looking for more to happen. They were finally leaving and then they weren't.

I still enjoyed it, but I kept yelling "shut the darn door"!!! at both houses!
They almost made it out, before the "cavalry" showed up. Yeah, if only they were there to help.

We watched last night but I'm not sure I can keep my family watching with me. Instead of enjoying it like we do WD, we found ourselves yelling at the TV through the whole thing, LOL. The whole scene where they are going through the back yard (leaving all the doors open on the way) was just too stupid for us. When Travis pulled up in the truck, why wouldn't she just go out the front door to met him before he went into the house. Instead they all go through that maze of plants in the back yard and over the fence..right to where they were watching the man eating the dog?? LOL - seriously? Just go out the front door and yell at Travis "Hey - Don't go into the house!" ;)

We were all cheering for the old man from the Barber Shop. Someone seems to get it :thumbsup2

I will keep watching, because I want to see where this goes. But we are having a really hard time believing that this came from the same people that created WD. The quality and story line is just not the same, LOL.

The guy wouldn't have been eating the dog in the first place, if they had just shut the stupid door :-)

And yes, I will stick with it, and I think with the military now, things will get even more interesting, but OMG why why why hasn't Nick put on his own clothes????

yes! I was yelling shut the door *******! And you see a guy eating a dog in your living room and you try to reason with him? Even if the world wasn't going crazy I would think shooting him has merit especially if my kids are in the house. (and I am very pro gun control). I do like that they didn't just leave. It makes it a different story than the original. I was hoping Morales would show up. I wonder how they are working that in. I thought he might be the cousin.

Did they confirm Morales? I had read rumors when this show first was developed. I had to wonder how he could possibly get all the way from LA to Atlanta in the Zombie apocalypse.

The other part that is so strange to see, and different from TWD, is they still have amenities. Nice beds, houses to be comfy in, coffee to drink. They have no idea what's heading their way.

I do like this show so far. My DH, DS, and I really love TWD, but I think I'm more interested so far in FTWD than DH and DS. I want to keep watching it to see where it will go. I have to remember they're just really confused right now by what is going on and dealing with a drug addict and trying to figure everything out so I need to cut the characters a break (although I agree that is hard when you're thinking how dumb they are).

I don't understand why no one seems to want to tell the kids what is going on (Alicia and Chris) because how can they hope to keep them safe when they are not completely aware what the danger is?!? They're not little children so not sure why they are trying to shield them. Thank goodness for Daniel - he seems the only sane one with any insight into the situation whatsoever! I think Madison has a little insight but her boyfriend is probably a goner because he's "weak" like Daniel points out. I was also very sad that the dog got eaten. I always wondered why you rarely saw any dogs on TWD but I didn't really want to think about it.

My dh asked me if there were many animals on TWD, I told him no, because they all get eaten.
My thought last night, again, when they weren't telling the younger kids everything was "Stay in house Alicia" LOL, just like Carl.
I agree though, that they have no idea what's really going on, and are very confused.
Closing the door though, when you are running to get a gun to save you, seems a bit common sense :-)

It's frustrating watching sometimes, I have to keep reminding myself that we (the audience) know so much more than they do at this point. But really how hard is it TO SHUT THE DARN DOOR?? lol

I didn't think there really was a cousin. I thought Daniel made that up so that Travis and Co. would leave them there. He told his wife that he wants to stay there at the house. And the daughter said something about their only family was in El Salvador. So I thought the story about the cousin was all a ruse to get the others to leave them behind.

I think you are probably right.

Okay, I have been reading the posts here and not chiming in, but I have to agree with everyone saying they're yelling at the TV screen while these people are running around alone with no weapons, leaving doors open, and trying to reason with the walkers. I'm used to the characters on The Walking Dead knowing what to expect from the walkers and how to take care of them when they do run into them and now only need to scream at the TV watching that when the characters find themselves in danger from other situations. These people are new to everything going on around them, yes, but some of them have seen what happens with the walkers and still seem absolutely clueless as to what to do when they encounter them. I am also highly frustrated that Nick has not been in proper attire throughout the whole series so far-he went from jeans and what had to be someone else's unbuttoned sweater to the old man from the hospital's clothes and hasn't changed yet even though he's been home for a while now-not to mention he has not bathed and definitely has not washed his hair. I realize he is in the middle of detoxing from drugs but he really should get cleaned up while he still can. Everyone else seems to be able to groom themselves at this point.

I had high hopes for this series, and I am still hopeful. Some things just don't make sense though. After Madison killed her Principle, and had some idea of the current dangers, she elected to give a student a ride home instead of returning home to protect her own children. Then last night, when she and Travis had some alone time, she still did not tell him about killing the Principle. I agree with all of you about not closing the doors. Maybe we had too high of expectations, but many of the plots/story lines don't feel as though they well well thought out. I was hoping to see more details about the collapse of society, such as WHY does the power go out? What EXACTLY happens at the power plant? I would have liked to known the details of the decision making by those in power to send out the Military? Maybe just a scene with the Mayor or Govenor discussing and detailing the chaos, and giving us more insight into, the overall situation. I did like when the military showed up, I did not see that coming.

I know right??? I keep saying to DH "Why is he still wearing the old dead mans clothes?"

Also, when the step dad was with his ex wife and son and the store owners running through the city of looting.... why was his truck still nicely parked nearby and not destroyed by the looters? I liked that step dad in the first two episodes but now I don't like him. I hope he does bite it. This writing stinks so I am not sure Ill keep watching.

We had high hopes for good reason! TWD grabbed me from the first episode. I got on the bandwagon late but once I did, I went on a TWD watching binge to end all binges. So I was REALLY looking forward to FTWD as the premise sounds great. But holy cow, it's a dud. I don't like any of the characters.

I still like it, but there are some, let's say, weird things.

I agree, why is Nick still in a dead man's clothes? You would think his mom would have had him change, at the very least.

I don't understand why no one is talking about what is going on. If my boss tried to eat me and a student, and I killed him, I would for dang sure be telling my DH/boyfriend.

Madison said they were packed and ready to go and didn't want to wait til morning to leave. Those were the leanest packed cars I have ever seen. You have the afternoon and night to pack to flee, and you packed what? An overnight bag???

WHY go through that crazy maze to get to Travis? Go out the front door!

Keep your kids with you! It's Laurie & Carl all over again, with the exception being that I think this gal is gonna get it.

There is no cousin, that was a ruse (IMO). Not sure I trust him.

You're putting the trash out? Really????

If Travis had just let her kill Sue with the hammer, they would have made it out.

Things are going to go BAD now that the Gvt has them. FEMA camps anyone? Remember Atlanta?
