I cannot stand flying. I'd much rather be in a car for days than on a plane for a few hours. My fear seems to stem from the fact that if something went wrong, I can't do anything about it. In a car, I could grab the steering wheel, pull the parking break, etc. I know it is totally irrational. Now that I fly with my son, I work really hard to not let on how freaked out I am. Once, I was trying to read, but was sweating so badly that I smeared the words on the page. I don't drink on flights, don't like to take too much medication, so I just force myself to deal with it. My BIL knew all about planes from the Navy, tried to explain it to me, didn't want to hear it. Lol!
