I was thinking .. If you have enough cabins would it not make since to break up the cabins in groups of like Gold, Silver and Bronze? I see so many people concerned with what they are gifting and if it's enough.
When signing up you can choose what level you wanted to gift. Might be a way to ease the "stress" for them.

Yes, the FE group for our cruise is broken into three or four groups (Belle, Beast, Lumiere, etc) with 15 cabins in each group.

That's Awesome .. I don't think ours is like that. But I have still yet to find ours on this site!

The FE group for our cruise was broken into 4 groups so we would have smaller numbers of cabins. But we did not break it up by value of the gifts.

Yeah typically for all I've experienced, its by time you sign up and just placed in a group, then when its maxed out for participation (10-12 cabins) then another group is created. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the price leveling though. So is like gold $50 starting fee? And that fee per stateroom...per person? It sounds like a lot of complication to something that should be fun and free for all. I think from my experience its been about what you can give etc. I mean I might be biased for the lower end of the spectrum...I mean I am by no means stingy, but I don't go over board either. Cruises are expensive, ha ha! I can see where someone really puts a lot in and would might wanna get their worth in return...but I also think the FE should be about the spirit of it and not about the money. But cool idea regardless and wouldn't mind participating either way. Interesting concept. Just hope the original idea and purpose is never lost! :mickeybar:mickeybar

We just booked our cruise that departs August 7, 2015 on Disney DREAM to the Bahamas. All 3 of my children are so excited and would love to participate and want to know if Is it still possible to join Fish Extender group for this cruise?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you :)

You need to check the cruise meet group for your cruise. It's under the cruise meet subforum.

ETA:

It looks like the FE groups are closed for that cruise. Here's the link for your cruise:

lo those may years ago, we had divided the large FE group into 2 smaller/manageable FE groups. Then, when the lists were officially closed due to time constraints, there was such an influx of new/tardy participants that they formed their own group and then split that as well...this was all Disboards generated back then, no Facebook. So, one group became 4....there were no homemade gifts in my group and hardly anybody spent any REAL $$$ (that is, for you literalists, large amounts of money) and everyone was thrilled just to get something upon returning to the cabins. The FE meet on the first day was awkward and unnecessary, in my opinion, but many seemed to enjoy it. It just cut into my time on what was an already busy day...........

Typically, for FEs, do you give a gift to each person in the cabin, or just the kids? Or one gift for the entire cabin to share?

Typically, it's your choice of
1. a cabin gift
2. a cabin gift with individual gifts for the kids. or
3. individual gifts for each person in the cabin

I just got added to our sailings FE group. I was told the organizer puts a cap at 10 staterooms and we have 4 groups total so far. I think that makes it more manageable as my husband said we could not load a lot with us on the plane ride.
Honestly, I personally don't care how much others in my group spend. I'm excited to see how creative people got and the ideas they've brought to life. Some people can and are willing to spend more than others but I think the sharing and surprise experience will be more important to my kids than the monetary value of the gifts.

AGREED!
My DGD was THRILLED to just get a handful of glow sticks....in all candor, she probably never played with/used 95% of the stuff we received, but she was soooo happy to get the things.
AND, as I have always contended, I hate to see people spend money (Lord knows we've spent enough just to be there) on something which is only going to end up in a junk drawer or in the garbage........

On our last cruise, we did one FE gift for the adults in the cabin (which was a whiteboard for the door) and then separate FE gifts for each child in the cabin. This time, we're doing a gift for each person in the cabin, plus, if anyone is celebrating a birthday or anniversary, we'll do another special something. And something extra for both the organizer of our FE and the organizer of our FB site.

Agreed. DD loved finding a gift when we went back to the room and she did not care if it was a pillow case with her name on it, or a glow stick and stickers. She got some more elaborate that she still has and plays with (pillow case, light up mickey ears, elsa tsum tsum pet) and a lot of things that either broke or got lost (like jewelry, stickers etc). And she loved them all the same.

For us the goal of the FE was to have some little stuff to keep DD entertained and for the memories. The items themselves were not as important as the memory of getting a little something. Some people in our group obviously spent more than others, but at the end of the day, I don't really care. It was a fun experience, which is what it is supposed to be. Not a competition.

Yes, yes, and yes! Agreed! I won't deny, reading some people's comments on what they got for FEs here got me very discouraged. I already spent enough to get on the ship, I don't want to spend another fortune on stuff they're going to throw away, or groan at. I really just need to get over the thought of people not being happy with the thought and sentiment of it. It's not like I'm going to be handing out razor blades to babies. :p
