I had seen somewhere someone had posted a downloadable gift log to record all the FE gifts they received. I am wanting to do this but I can't find the log, does anyone know where I can get it?

Just curious, why is this important? I much prefer the "secret" part of the gift exchange. You can just make a list of what you've received on a piece of paper.

Some members will put their cabin number or family name on the gift. It allows people to say thanks once they get home. :confused3

OMG!!! So what exactly would you do if someone gives you candy or stickers? You take yourself and this fun, little gift exchange way too seriously!
It's important to me because I put a lot of effort and money into my gifts and we end up getting candy, stickers and half fast "gifts" from certain users, I would like to create a list for future cruising of who makes an effort with their FE's. And yes.... it helps to give thanks for the effort at the end.

And just my opinion, but if you prefer the "secret" part of giving, it's probably because you don't take pride in the gifts you give. I take pride in my gifts and I put my cabin # on what I give out. No shame here.

Wow! Hard to believe the attitude. It's interesting that some of the comments of the OP have now been erased. Check the quote in Princess pooh's post.

Unfortunately, the "entitled" will always be ridiculous in their expectations. If they're going to be that way, they shouldn't participate.
It's fun for some people to give anonymously. That doesn't mean they aren't proud of what they give. Maybe they are just humble.

Most people enjoy FE for what it's supposed to be: a fun little something to brighten someone's day.

Hence, rule #1 - always quote the post you're replying to.

Just to throw my two cents in - I do take pride in the gifts I've given. Actually, I'd probably fall into those "crafty sorts" who come up with great ideas. But, some people, I guess, won't believe that. I've only given "just candy" a few times. And that's only when I make a second run of gift giving.

And I've found a general "thank you" on the Cruise Meet thread when I return from the cruise is sufficient. It's not worth my effort to figure out whether someone on a cruise with me has given me a "less than great" gift in the past.

Thanks for posting rule #1, I've always wondered why you always quote something. Good call on that!

I'm so happy the other pp wired the ops answer to your first post. All I can say is I'm stunned at that reply, I'm probably one of the people she wants to avoid:rotfl2:

Won't you have a list of cabins you are exchanging with? Can't you just use that same list as your gifts received log?

If the gift has a tag on it, you can just use that to know who to thank. I have to agree that when you join an FE you have to put expectations aside. Some people aren't able to invest as much in their gifts, in either money or time. You don't know what each person is going through in their life. Some have more challenges than others and taking the time out of their day to do their FE gift is a sacrifice.

When we did FE, I couldn't be bothered wrapping the tiny gifts (some regional, some cruise-themed) AND I never thought of putting my name or cabin # on them..That, btw, is why we use screen names and don't give out telephone #'s here: it's nobody's business.

Anyhow, we received some nice stuff (still hang the tiny cruise ship on our tree every year) and some junk. It was ALL great to get because the DGD loved the idea of getting a surprise each day (almost). Many were wrapped. It makes me wonder how people have sooooo much time to do all the crafty stuff and then wrap gifts and then worry about adult vs. child gifts then go from cabin to cabin (50 cabins on a 7 day cruise = a little more than 7 cabins/day....and its a BIG vessel) ....anyhow, part of me is jealous, part is perplexed, and part is stupefied. And part of me is just plain stupid.

This is exactly why we aren't doing this for our first cruise next month. I am a single mom, work full time and I am just not crafty. I am having a lot of fun planning this cruise but I just could not imagine having to come up with age and person-specific gifts for a bunch of people I don't know ahead of time. Also trying to keep luggage to a manageable amt. Just concentrating on finding little things to surprise my own kids and family that is travelling with me. I really don't think they will notice or feel like they are missing out because we didn't participate.

OP has scared me with her initial post as well as her DD (dirty delete). I didn't think FE's were designed to break the bank! I just signed up for my first FE for the Hawaiian 9/17 cruise. I'm of the mindset that we will be getting stuff that's similar to trick or treat bags. Some candy, maybe some bookmarks, cheesy toys, etc. As it is my first one, I'm hoping I'm not in too big a group. I do consider myself crafty but not original. I'll be all over Pinterest to see what Disney themed projects pick my eye and then replicate it. Depending on the size of the group will affect how much or how little I spend on the FE. I'm also under the impression that doing FE's are a gamble. Just like penpals, you may get people who are awesome and some who flake. GL to all!

You've got a good attitude. Just enjoy what you get and don't stress over spending too much time or money on your gifts.

LOL. I spend part of my life in that state, because I have a few friends who really seem to have WAY more hours in a day than I do. They start a comlicated knitting project and 2.5 days later are FINISHED with it and it's gorgeous. They have chickens and they cook and they do this and that and have gardens and are just amazing. :) What you said is why I don't do FEs.
