'FD' announced for the summer months....

This could possibly be a very appealing and worthwhile discount if you are in a value. With a room only discount, you may get 20% off your room, and that would equal maybe $30. For a family of 4, you could use your free QS meal to go to BOG for a pre-park opening breakfast which would run you $65 easily OOP... and get you into the park early. So, while not as great as the regular FD package, it still has some value, especially during a time where I'm not sure you can do better discount-wise staying on site.

We never travel during Peak Summer, I'm wondering Does WDW always offer discounts during peak summer season? If so what have past offers been?

I (as do many others) think that the FD promotion has had a negative impact on the overall experience at the restaurants. Just not a fan.

For some people, it's the only way they can afford to stay and eat at Disney since the meals are incredibly expensive at most of the restaurants. How does it create a negative impact? Last year, all the meals we had were wonderful and we went on the Free Dining promotion.

Most of those who complain about FD, are usually those who do not qualify to get the discount. I think there are a lot more For FD than against it.

Incorrect. It's a bigger issue for many of "those"...including me

I'm not blaming "free dining"...I'm blaming "dining"

As in since the blessed "convenient, discounted" Disney dining plan was hatched...there has been a near mandatory streamlining of menus and near doubling of the menu prices at the sit down restaurants since.

So for me...and I think many ...the "very good" dining in themeparks - something that hooked a lot of us - has fallen to "ok/good" or worse since.

That's my angle.

That makes sense! When I was much younger, there was no such thing as the dining plan and it was quite a bit cheaper to eat at Disney.

Do you really think that WDW would lower dining prices with out the Disney Plan? They would also have to get rid of any Special discount offers on Resorts to, in order to be able to make the high profit they want. I really don't think the quality of the food would get better.

Absolutely not...it was just a smoke screen to implement policies that will cost us all a fortune long term...

And the lemmings ran right off the cliff. It didn't "look right" from the start.

It was about freeing up pocket cash for gift shops at the time...they turned the screws on the real prices far more than I anticipated.

I was looking at the menu for Cinderellas and was shocked at the prices and the choices. It's fixed price for dinner (over $60) and only about 5 entree choices, none I cared for.

Let's face it: magic kingdom food isn't very good and is overpriced...that being the most agregious example.
