FD and EF

What is the difference between FD and EF?

I'm looking for lenses for my new canon rebel xs; can both work with my camara or only the EF?

FD is the old old mount. EF is the mount that replaced it. EF-S is a new mount which is designed solely for crop cameras, like your XS. Long story short (too late) your XS can accept EF and EF-S mounts natively.
