Jumping in as a new member to do a Pre Trip Report for my beautiful little girl Faye.

Faye is our four year old daughter that is battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Her symptoms began with leg pains and getting sick more often than we felt was normal. Many trips to the pediatrician wrote off the symptoms as a virus or growing pains. These signs started around Christmas '10. At the end of March she was having regular fevers, night sweats, no interest in eating, and had gone a week with out walking because of the pain in her legs. Right in the middle of this reaching it's worst point we had our 3rd child. After he was home we took both him and Faye to the pediatrician where they finally did blood work (looking back we should have requested this done well before now). They called the next morning instructing us to get her to the ER immediately. More blood work an ambulance ride to Texas Children's Hospital and a few tests later we were given the news.

She has since spent close to six straight months in the hospital receiving intense chemo therapy. We had to make the 2.5hr. round trip to trade off days with her in the hospital while the other stayed home to take care of our two boys (with a lot of help from family and friends). We essentially were forced into joint custody. She recently finished her treatments got her PICC line removed and is in remission. 50% of kids with this type of leukemia relapse so we are hoping for the best and enjoying every minute we can together.

Now on to the purpose of the tread.....We have been told over the phone that Faye has been approved to receive a wish and that we should receive a call soon to meet with her coordinators. Her wish as it stands is to be in the parade at DisneyWorld with Sleeping Beauty. Not sure if that is possible but I suppose we will find out when she tells them. I am sure we will have plenty of questions coming soon.
