Faxing Room Requests

I remember reading threads that faxing room requests is now a no-no. Is that true? We made a couple of requests (high floor, quiet area) when we booked our room through Member Services and they are noted on our confirm; however, we now have a child who is terrified of fireworks, and we are staying at the BCV. We do not want an Epcot view. Any suggestions on what we should do?

Call MS back, tell them your problem and they will change your request, and send you a new confirmation with the new request on it, if you ask them to, otherwise they will tell you they changed it and that will be it.

This may seem like a wierd question, but does MS take room requests in the order they were received? We still would like a high floor in a quiet area, but now have the fireworks issue. We made our original requests 10-11 months ago. Does changing it drop us to the bottom of the list? Is it better handled at check-in?

There is no more 11 mnth priority in room requests being granted, so it won't hurt your chances adding this room request. Just have them list it first. BCV has a "room ready" policy currently, which means, if a room is ready that meets some of your requests is available at check-in you'll be given that room. Which indicates you get a better room selection earlier in the morning, vs later in the afternoon. I'd add your room request, since during busy times they sometimes pre-assign rooms also. When you check-in ask the CM if your room views the fireworks. If they say yes, explain your situation, I'm sure you won't have a problem getting a new room assigned. And yes, faxing room requests is now a no-no at DVC resorts and any fax won't be looked at.

I would think your chances of getting a non-Epcot view would be pretty good since most people seem to want that view.

During the fireworks, I would turn on the TV so you could have some background noise. If you are in a 1 bedroom, turn on the dryer and maybe the dishwasher as well. Maybe schedule a late night bath in the jaccuzi tub. With BCV being so close, I think you will be able to hear the fireworks in any location. I know when we stayed at the YC a few years back, we could hear them there as well. Good luck!
