Do people still fax requests to the fort? If so, how many days before do you do it? Have you found it to help? What is the number? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

We fax ours in the day before we arrive. I forgot the number but if you do a search on here you should find it.

Did some looking, here you go:

The fax# for the Fort is:407-824-3508

Date:

TO: Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground Site Assigner

FROM: Name
Address

SUBJECT: Site Request for Month xx - xx

RE: Reservation # xxxxxxxx

I am really looking forward to my stay at the Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground and am writing about campsite requests. I do understand that these are only requests and cannot be guaranteed.

If possible, I would like a site in Loop xxxx with a site that will accommodate the following: (list your "stuff" here) and near (whatever you want to be near).

Thanks so much for your help, and once again I’m really looking forward to my visit to Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground.

If you have any questions, I can be reached at xxx-xxx-xxxx or by email at xxx@xxx.xxx

Sincerely,

Sincerely,

Thank you! I copied/pasted your fax request in my camping folder on my PC. :thumbsup2

1) Faxing does not help requests.
2) Have requests noted on your ressie.
3) I HAVE WORKED THE "BACKROOM" AT FW . . .
. . . faxed requests end up in File-13
. . . we haven't read faxes in years
. . . plus, the new computer system now assigns rooms/spaces
. . . this is done before the ressie is forwarded to the resort
. . . so, in most cases, your space is assigned before FW sees it

That's interesting.....I have never noted my request on my reservation and I always fax my request the week of arrival. I have always received my requested site and they even mention that my request has been granted.

Scupper,

I'm sorta wondering about this too.

However, we always ask the CM making our ressie to add a note about what loop we request. I haven't faxed in like five years. And we have gotten the requested loop WAY too often for it to have been random luck. Even when we got Premium sites (which have lots of loops) we always got the loop request except for once.

So don't you think there is someone or some system along the line still matching things up? I don't think it's coincidence.

Any light you can shed on this would be appreciated.

TIA,

Bama ED

1) I have said that most faxes end up in File-13.
2) Occasionally, someone will read them - but actually very seldom.
3) However, when ressies come down, they are pre-assigned.
4) There is room to move things around.
5) But, not much, any more.
6) The new computer system was developed to eliminated faxes.
7) Typically, there is just not enough time to read faxes.
8) There are too many other duties in the Backroom.

NOTE: When the computer makes assignments in hotels or FW, the
better rooms/sites are assigned first from the date the ressies were
made. If you made an early ressie, you could be getting exactly what
you wanted because it is a better location (in that category).

I can't say if the faxes are read or not, but...

We went last year and I faxed a request that my main concern was being near the trading post. I got 116. Can't get any closer than that. Nowhere else did I mention that I wanted to be close to the trading post. I did request loop 100 on the reservation however. Maybe I just got lucky? I will fax a request this year also. May go in the trash, maybe not. Can't hurt either way.

We have never faxed anything to FW, but we always put in a request for 100 and most of the time have gotten it (occasionally 200). Especially now that those two are the only non - pet loops, it is essential that we get those as I cannot be around dogs.

I have faxed in my last couple of trips and have gotten exactly the site I wanted twice. The time we came in on a Saturday, we did not even get the loop we requested much less the site number, but they did fulfill all my requirements with the exception that the loop wasn't the one I wanted.

That is awesome to know! I was going to post on this that I have faxed requests in the past - always unsuccessful. I wish that WDW would take a stance and post that info, as it would save people a lot of time.

Thanks for youe honesty:):thumbsup2
