How many days before arrival do you fax a room request. We are staying at the Poly and I have the fax number, just curious what the time frame was? We arrive there Sunday.

Thanks friends!

I don't fax. Never have, never will. And, I was told, at the Polynesian, that they don't look at the faxes anymore. Haven't for a few years now. Why? Because so many guests were sending in faxes, the room assigners were getting bogged down by having to read 'em all.
Just have any and all requests on your original reservation. No need to fax. Of course, there are going to be those that tell you that they fax every single trip and have gotten exactly what they have asked for, every time. I maintain that they would have gotten what they asked for in any case. I would be severely put out if I put in my requests when I made my reservation, but lost out on my requests because someone faxed in their requests 3 days before arrival....and we had similar requests.

One of these days the fax numbers will wind up being like the 'resort phone numbers' they goto a central area, not even connected to the resort, but in this case, the faxes are automatically fed into a shredder.

We stayed for 3 days in August at the Poly and I faxed them 5 days before arrival and when we checked in I got exactly what I wanted...top floor Tahiti building.

I arrive Friday and I faxed yesterday evening. Yes, I am one who always faxes and always receives what I want. But my requests are pretty broad. I asked for any area but 50's and not ground floor. Now, if I get 1st floor 50's, I will know they frown on faxing ;)

We didn't fax but gave our request to the reservations line for our trip.
We stayed at the Poly.
We didn't get our request and this was during off-peak in the fall.
Requested Tahiti got Fiji and LOVED it!

We got the room type I normally wouldn't want-near the elevator and it was the quietest hotel room I have been in.

As an example.....about 20 trips since '99. Never faxed once, and only one time did I not get what I asked for. I had asked for a room in the 50's area of POP, on an upper floor. I got ground level, facing the parking lot/lake of 80's. Not even close to what I wanted but turns out it was a terrific room.
Go ahead and fax if it makes you feel better.
