Faxed Room Requests

I feel like this is a silly question, but am asking it anyway. What exactly have you all put on your fax requests for certain rooms? They must get a lot of these. Do you do anything special to make yours stand out? Is is all right to ask to be upgraded to a prefered room? Or is it best to just ask for the certain building you want. We are checking in right after Thanksgiving- Dec. 1. When should I send mine? I'm worried they may be too busy to deal with it during the holiday. I'd love to find out what everyone's done in the past.

No question is a silly question!! When faxing my requests I usually do so 3 days befor our trip. I word it very similar to the example in the above link. I ask specifically what I want. For example on our last trip in May we were staying at the BWI standard room. I requested non smoking, ful size balcony, day bed and a view of the BW or Epcot. When we got to our room all requests were met and we had a view of Epcot.
I don't think your requests will be ignored just because of the holida. I would think that because you are checking in after the holiday, alot of people will be checking out and you might have a better chance at getting what you want! Good luck

So if I asked my travel agent to make sure they request a non smoking room, I should be all set? and I won't have to fax anything myself??

It's just that I don't want to get a room that even SMELLS like smoke, I won't be able to breathe at all

NOt to be a spoiler...I've never gotten my requests....other than non smoking...room position never.....Not sure if I send it two early or what.....but never have gotten it...

For our April 2002 trip to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Beach Club I sent faxes four days before our arrival.

At the AKL - I asked for bunk beds, 2nd floor and Arusha Savannah on the Zebra Trail.

At the BC - I asked for a room with a daybed and as close to the Epcot international gateway as possible.

I was stunned to get ALL OF MY REQUESTS at both resorts! It really did add lots of 'magic' to our vacation.

I also used the advice given in the link in the post above by Desnick.
