Hi all,

We have originally booked our trip for August to work around school holidays, but no longer have to do this.
We are now eyeing up either September or early-November catching the beginning of either Halloween or Christmas season. We will be in the cabins for the first time and I'm keen to tap into your enthusiasm and expertise.

So... what is your favourite time to go out of the two? Do people start decorating their golf carts and cabins that early?

Well, I have not been at Disney during either actual holiday but have been to Disney during both seasons (Just not on the actual holiday).

We have only recently (is 2012 recent?) found the wonderful place that we call the "Fort" and have stayed there twice during the Christmas Season. (Both times) We basically check-in on Thanksgiving day and stay about 10 days. We love the decorations, we (mostly) love the weather and the overall atmosphere is great.

We have not stayed at the Fort during Halloween season, but I hear it's also a blast especially if you have younger kids. You can trick-or-treat around the campground and from all accounts it's a great time. We have been at WDW during the Halloween season and also love the decorations. I think, though, since my youngest is getting closer to those teen years, we'd rather do the Christmas season. If you have kids though, and they love the Halloween season, then I think I would lean more to that. Since however, you mentioned that the kids are no longer the issue, I'd lean towards the Christmas season.

In the long run, I don't think you will go wrong with either one at the Fort. The decorations will be awesome in both seasons, and After all, you will be at the Fort!

Enjoy your time there which ever you decide.

Early November would be my choice as well. But, go both times, it would be awesome.

We have done early November, Thanksgiving and Christmas Week. Enjoyed both. Doing Halloween this year and Christmas next year.

Both are great!!! Early September can still be pretty warm and early November is when the Food and Wine Festival marathon take place. It's a pretty busy time. Out of your two options, I'd choose November (even with the marathon) as it is also during Epcot's Food & Wine Festival...which is one of our favorite things!!!

With all that said, other than the hot and crowded summer, there is never a bad time to go to WDW!!!

Question about Halloween at the Fort...... we will be there 26th - Nov 1 this year. Wanted to see the cart parade and the decorations in the Fort area, first time actually staying there (Cabin). Is the trick or treating mostly in the campsite areas? I have no desire to hand out candy on Halloween on my vacation....... no kids with us this trip, just our adult son (with special needs). We will not even be around most of the day, with watching that parade and also booked Mickey's Backyard BBQ for dinner.

Yes, it is mostly at campsites. Also TOTers are only suppose to go to campers that have a table set up out front and are lit. If you don't have this they won't come by.

Does the fort do any halloween type of activities earlier in the month? Like around the 16th or so?

We have camped Nov 11-15 for the last two years. We have seen some site that still have Halloween stuff, a few with fall decorations but not many with Christmas stuff. The weather is really nice at that time.

Thanks for all your comments guys! After all the to-ing and fro-ing between September and November, we've decided I'll miss a week of University (it's a Masters so lectures don't impact assessment) and go in October. Excited to see all the Halloween decorations and enjoy the slightly less humid weather.

1) Lots of people prefer Halloween.
2) My favorite is Christmas.
3) Both have guests doing decorations.
4) But, many go way overboard at Christmas.
4) Plus, people are always nicer at Christmas time, just because of the season.

How many are at at Thanksgiving. I am a lucky girl and halloween and thanksgiving at the fort. Well almost, we check out Wendesday because my mom did not want to have to checkout thanksgiving

We love the Thanksgiving time. It's fairly crowded at the Fort. We usually check-in on Thanksgiving day and stay for about 11 days. Thanksgiving day, and through that weekend is pretty busy, but by Sunday it's thinning out, both in the parks and the fort.

We have been there for both. I really enjoyed Halloween and Christmas time there. It would be hard to choose. Very festive, lots to do. Lotta college fans wearing their colors. Always a fun time.........

88 Days 1 Hour and 45 Minutes and counting.

I have done both but have to admit Thanksgiving thru Christmas and past New Years is my favorite time. Weather is likely to be cooler but a good bit warmer than at home. Decorations throughout the WORLD make it extra special. Crowd levels are higher at those holidays so we limit park times on those days and enjoy The FORT or resort hopping and this year are considering Water Parks and Disney Springs
