What's your top 5? And what's the best character dining experience, in terms of both food & character interaction.
I am going in 2 days and still haven't booked ANY restaurants. Help me please :)

Our first night is at the Magic Circus, no parks that day so we might do swimming and Disney village. The following day we check into the New Port Bay for 4 nights with full board meal vouchers.

Thanks in advance.

Annette's is by far my favourite place to eat! I don't *think* you can make reservations though, but in the plans I've made so far for our November trip we want to eat there at least twice.
Personally I'd get a character breakfast rather than go somewhere like cafe Mickey for dinner because I don't like the menu!
We're planning to eat at our hotel restaurant one evening (Cheyenne) and probably rainforest too,
There are quite a few kids in our party so I dont think we will be going anywhere too fancy. I can't imagine they will sit nicely for hours when they are tired from a day in parks lol x
Lunches, pizza planet, caseys corner and cowboy cookout are in our plans x

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same regarding the kids sitting nicely for meals. My daughter though is crazy about Minnie Mouse so I'm praying that whatever meal we do that she will be there. I know it's not guaranteed but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Looking forward to hearing other posters favourites.

I think our favourite place to eat after this trip was Cowboy Cookout - for food and character interaction! It was amazing (I will include all info when I finally get round to day 4 of my trip report, which will be completed tomorrow I hope!) and wish we could do it again.

Auberge - wonderful Princess interaction - food not good. Last time we ate there the lamb was delicious, this time I had the kids chicken and it was vile. Expensive.

Inventions - amazing character interaction and lovely buffet. We have done the evening buffet and the Sunday brunch. Sunday brunch slightly topped the evening meal, just because it is themed and the characters more interesting.

Café Mickey - we had steak and pizza, very nice, not too expensive. Character interaction quick but lovely all the same.

Toad Hall - our favourite counter service meal. Lovely and brilliant value.

So...

1. Cowboy cookout for food and character interaction and value for money
2. Inventions for food and character interaction
3. Auberge for character interaction only
4. Café Mickey
5. Toad Hall

I would book before you go. We tried to change a reservation early morning for the next day and were told it was fully booked. xx

Minnie and Mickey were at Cafe Mickey and Inventions, but not Auberge or Cowboy Cookout.

Which vouchers do you have? If youhave premium ones I would do Inventions for definiate. But if you have the standard vouchers you will have to pay towards the cost. I would also do Cowboy Cookout and Café Mickey.

I don't know what vouchers it it buti think it's plus??? We collect them on Friday morning when we check into NBC.

I am a bit rubbish and just end up eating at the same places every trip

1. Walt's for me dd's least favourite as it's boring :rotfl2:
2. Inventions Sunday Brunch - very expensive food ok but can get a decent bottle of wine and a bit of civilisation.
3. Cafe Mickey - we've always had great meals here food is standard pub type food but atmosphere for us has always been fab of an evening, found it not so good at lunch time.
4. Blue Lagoon - we've had 1 excellent and 1 just ok meal here but the theming is brilliant.
5. ummmmm I'm stuck now Annettes probably but had a pretty bad meal there last year hopefully a one off.

Overall I'd be making the most of those meal vouchers and checking out menus now to get the best value :thumbsup2

I think with plus you'd have to contribute towards Inventions evening buffet, and you can't use any vouchers for brunch. Personally, if you can afford it I think it is worth it for a lovely meal and lovely interaction, but then Cafe Mickey has similar characters and is much cheaper, esp if you just have a light lunch. We paid 45 euros (this was including SH discount though) and hubby had the steak which he said was delicious, Rosebug and I shared a huge pizza, and 3 drinks!

Cowboy cookout and Restaurant des stars are the must for me.
Mickey's cafe this time was wonderful. A year before - bad experience. But I'd give it a go. lasagna was perfect.
Two different experiences with Parkside dinner.
rainforest cafe was great too.

Do you guys think is is best to buy the full board meal plan or just pay as you go? I'm a bit confused as to how good of value it is at DLP.. I'm leaning toward just pay as you go when we go. I don't want to be chained down with the vouchers, but at the same time, it's already paid off. It goes both ways.

My top five are:

Califonia Grill
Blue Lagoon
Walts
Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show
The Steakhouse

For character interaction:

Inventions
Cafe Mickey

Hi don't know if your aware but there will be no characters at cowboy cookout in nov.

No plans have been announced so far for an alternative location.

Such a shame as was hoping to go there on our nov trip also.

::yes::

I'd also be suprised in Pizza Planet is open in November as it rarely is out of season.

Confirm too Annette's doesn't take reservations :sad2:

Going on the quailty of the food:

1 Walts
2 Chuckwagon buffet
3 Toad Hall
4 King Luwigs
5 Annettes

but I'v seen lots of bad reviews for 2, 4 and 5 so it is kind of hit and miss. May have a sneaky trip in the pipeline for November and I will definately be trying Inventions then.

It was open in November 2010 when we went at the same time as we'll be going this year, so fingers crossed!

I had heard that! Will it still be open anyway though? We like it in there :)
