Just trying to get an idea of what everybody did or is doing for favors. I am getting married 05-22-06 at Sea Breeze with a reception at Ariel's. I know it's going to be very warm in May so I think candles, chocolates & candies are out of the question. They wouldn't travel home well. Any ideas?

We're doing playing cards (getting married in Las Vegas).

You might want to consider looking at promotional companies (we're ordering from http://www.branders.com) instead of the traditional wedding suppliers - you can find some more unusual items and pretty good prices.

One of the things I'm quite taken with is the calculators. I don't know why, I just like the way they look.

I'm in the same bind--my wedding is September 1 and so I don't want anything that will melt. I've considered doing CD's...a couple other brides said they did that and it seemed pretty neat. I'm at a loss..we've actually considered NOT doing favors--but that seems rude. I'm looking forward to ideas being posted here...

I'm not getting married in Disney but am having a Disney themed wedding. :earsboy: :earsgirl: We decided to do "pixie dust" as our favors. We're getting small glass bottles and filling them with some type of glitter. We haven't worked out all the details but that's the idea we're going with.

We're thinking of having either the black, embroidered Mickey Ears, or the magnetic Disney photo frames as placecards/favors.

our wedding was in september of last year and yes, the weather in september is pretty warm, around 85 to be exact, so that scratched out any candy whatsoever as favors. i came across these little cinderella coaches on a website i can't remember and loved them. we ordered the last dozen that they had, for they were being discontinued. then, a few weeks later, i came across the EXACT coaches, far more cheap than what we paid on the website, at national wholesale liquidators store!!! we piad close to $60 for 12 coaches and the store had them for .99 cents each!!! so, lesson learned there.

My wife and I had a caricature artist at the reception which was a big hit. Everyone got their own cartoon likeness made. It's amazing when we visit friends homes and see them hanging in their living rooms.

if you are thinking candles Yankee candle company will customize your candle and they are very nice. we had them for my graduation from college and everybody loved them. pricing is not bad and it is a great favor. they even have a scent of Wedding day. we did chocolate mouse ears and matches with our name and date on them. another idea we were toying with was The Jimmy Fund in boston massachusetts Childrens hospital they have a place were you can donate in the names of your guests and they get a cute little certificate got to the website and there is info on that.

I never thought of that as a favor--what a really neat idea--do you mind if i ask what cost that ran?

I am going to have a few fun little things. I am going to make programs with (other than the normal schedule, etc) pictures, a word search, this day in history, etc. I'm also designing challenge coins to give out and we're making cds.

We got married back in the summer of 2003 and I can't recall what the price was. I asked my wife this morning to see if she remembered off hand and she couldn't even venture a guess. Sorry.

codie - i remember asking about the caricature artist too (its such a neat favor & entertainment) i believe the cost was like $500/hour with a minimum of 3 hours (because they can only draw so many people an hour). i had posted on this previously but my old posts doesnt go back that far now ?

we are doing our welcome bags with all kinds of goodies but have yet to decide a favor, i like all the ideas here though, keep em coming.

What about seeds or bulbs to plant at home? Isn't September around the time the neat stuff that has to be down by Thanksgiving comes out? Then in the Spring they'll have new flowers...

That sounds about right for what we paid. I do remember the minimum hours. We kept him constantly busy. :)

Here is a link to the picture the artist drew of us (I wish I could remember his name). http://www.discoverwdw.com/images/wedding/professionalphotos/livingseas/scan0305%20(Small).jpg

Hi Codi

The price at the moment is $455 + tax, that is for 3hrs and then if you need him longer they bill you by the hour.

Sam

455 per hour for three hours or 455 for three hours? The latter isn't too awful...we have 150 guests...that's about $3 a person...hmmmmm

We did the custom CD thing, We made the CD into the table card (it had the individual's table number on the jewel case) on the back was a note from us. on the inside front was the menu. When you reversed the front fold out it had a title page and the song listingd. A "Glass (ok, plastic) slipper was hot-glued to the top of the jewel case. We put music on it that was special to us; the kids got a big hit out of "Hampsterdance" I did the duplicating (I bought a $700 CD duplicater, and spent many hours copying. That littl bugger works great, and comes in handy... We pinted the label and the jewel case inserts on our HP inkjet 990C that has a built in duplexer...

Oh, I have also seen Picture Buttons as a keepsake...

I am getting married in Oct. and we were going to do "goodie bags"....with a bunch of disney stuff but realized it would prob cost us ALOT..so now we have decided on going to the crystal shop in DTD and getting these awesome shot glasses for everyone. They engrave for free so we will get everyone's name on theirs. On the shot glass is an etched pic. of the castle and the year..i have a collection of my own and they are very classy looking. I am pretty sure they are $9 ea.

We may also do xmas balls from the xmas store in DTD...b/c you can get a 4 pack for like $16 and its a minimal fee to have them personalized as well.

Brooke

Hey, speaking of goodie bags, what about Guest of Honor badges; they are a little pricey, but definately a keepsake...
