Over the years, we've been slowly trying to eat at a different World Showcase restaurant so that eventually we'll have tried them all!

We've been to Akershus, Le Cellier, San Angel Inn, & Tutto Italia.

This year, we were going to try Teppan Edo.

However, the more I think about, the more I'm afraid we'll be disappointed. We have some really good Japanese hibachi-style restaurants here at home where we eat frequently. In fact, that's why we haven't eaten at Teppan Edo before - because we have the same experience here, if that makes sense.

Additionally, some the recent reviews I've read said that, while Teppan Edo's good, it's not as good as other hibachi restaurants. Plus, of course, there's no fried rice.

So now I'm kinda rethinking Teppan Edo.

DH suggested Tokyo Dining, but I'm not sure the kids will like it. And, there aren't really a lot of reviews for Tokyo Dining.

I'm interested in Chefs de France or Rose & Crown, & 1 of these 2 would probably be my pick. I'm leaning toward Rose & Crown, because we like to eat lunch at Boulangerie Patisserie. However, neither menu really "wows" DH.

Biergarten looks kinda interesting (especially w/ the entertainment) as well, & we don't mind sitting w/ other people. I just really don't like buffets.

I'm actually kind of wanting to try Restaurant Marrakesh, but it doesn't get great reviews. However, it would be different & unique! And I love the Morocco World Showcase!

Nine Dragons is not really on the list for us for this trip... because, again, we have a great Chinese restaurant here.

I wouldn't mind going back to San Angel Inn or trying La Hacienda de San Angel except DH wants to go somewhere new. Plus, we want to eat counter-service at the Cantina.

Via Napoli would be good, but we're also eating at Tony's & Mama Melrose's. So, for variety, I'd like something besides Italian.

This will be for dinner on our EPCOT World Showcase day, &, after dinner, we'll be staying for Illuminations. (As an aside, we'll probably be eating at Le Cellier for lunch on another day.)

So, after all the above rambling, which of these would you choose for your World Showcase dinner?

Biergarten
Chefs de France
La Marrakesh
Rose & Crown
Teppan Edo
Tokyo Dining

Or, even w/ all the above disclaimers, would you rather eat at La Hacienda de San Angel, San Angel Inn, Tutto Italia, or Via Napoli INSTEAD of my choices?

Thanks for any suggestions!!

We really enjoy Teppan Edo, but we don't have a hibachi style restaurant where we live. We also enjoyed Rose and Crown and Les Chefs de France.

I voted for Rose & Crown, but we've also had very good experiences at Les Chefs, Akershus and Biergarten. Marrakesh is the only one that was pretty awful for us.

We've held off on Teppan Edo for similar reasons (same thing w/Tokyo Dining). In fact, we've skipped pretty much everything else in the WS for a variety of reasons...i.e. we live in TX so going to Epcot for Mexican food isn't high on our list, DH feels that pizza is pizza- even felt the same way after eating pizza in Italy and some of my fave places in NY and NJ :sad2:- so Via Napoli is out, I have very high standards when it comes to Italian food so the poor Tutto reviews have kept me away, and DD5 is peanut and tree nut allergic and no matter how good Disney is about allergies- Chinese food usually is a huge risk - one I'm not willing to take.

Such a hard decision for me! It really is a 3 way tie--Via Napoli, Chefs de France and La Hacienda! Can't go wrong with any of them!

I picked Tokyo Dining-we had a very good meal there a few years back (last time we had DDP). I could also have picked Tutto but you've already been there. BTW I would have put LC near the middle of my list.

We lucked out at Tokyo and got the corner window table just before Illuminations started. It was a fantastic view and food was good too.

Here are a few pictures of our meal there.

Wow this is a hard choice. I have once eaten at Teppan Edo but don't return because I can get good hibachi at home. I love le Chefs de France because French food is the most different from what I can get at home but it is not absolutely authentic. I loved Biergarten for the atmosphere, but the food isn't absolutely fantastic or authentic.

I enjoyed Rose and Crown, especially the Scotch Egg appetizer and sticky toffee pudding dessert and feel it is authentic to food I've eaten in England. I also LOVE Via Napoli. I don't think you can really compare it to Mama Melrose (we ate at both last trip). THe pizza at Via Napoli is absolutely the most authentic to Italian pizza I've found in the US. It's wonderful.

I guess if I absolutely had to choose and was basing it on the food quality and authenticity, I would choose Rose and Crown.

Teppan Edo Is defiantly my favorite in Epcot, not only because of the food, but also the hilarious chefs that prepare you meal!

I think Le Bistro is the best restaurant in Epcot. That said, I voted for LCdF, if you're only considering restaurants that accept 1 TS.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions so far!!

We really enjoy Teppan Edo, but we don't have a hibachi style restaurant where we live. We also enjoyed Rose and Crown and Les Chefs de France.

I'm really thinking it's between Chefs de France & Rose & Crown for me. I just can't decide...

We have a really good Japanese restaurant here in town, & we go at least once a month. So, I'm afraid Teppan Edo won't feel special to us, if that makes sense.

I voted for Rose & Crown, but we've also had very good experiences at Les Chefs, Akershus and Biergarten. Marrakesh is the only one that was pretty awful for us.

We've held off on Teppan Edo for similar reasons (same thing w/Tokyo Dining). I'm thinking Rose & Crown or Chefs too... still, Marrakesh intrigues me! LOL! Even w/ the bad reviews, out of all the restaurants, it just seems the most "exotic" to me... maybe because of the belly dancer & the architecture.

Tutto Italia was... okay. The appetizers were really good. DH & I shared the antipasto platter, & it was wonderful!! So fresh & tasty! My dessert was good too. The entrees, though, I felt weren't very authentic or special at all. I really felt like it tasted like something we could make at home. However, the service was wonderful! And what's not to like about young Italian servers w/ dashing accents? ;)

DH is not impressed w/ the menu at Via Napoli really either. Pizza just doesn't do it for him!

Such a hard decision for me! It really is a 3 way tie--Via Napoli, Chefs de France and La Hacienda! Can't go wrong with any of them!

I would really like to try both Via Napoli & La Hacienda... especially La Hacienda. However, when looking at La Hacienda's menu, I'm not sure the kids will like anything. Additionally, we went to San Angel Inn years ago & we didn't like it much, but I'd like to give it another try. I love the setting of both restaurants!

I had almost ruled out Toyko Dining.... until I saw your photos!! Now, it's back in the running, so thank you for that! :lmao:

Seriously, I'm glad to read your review because there aren't a lot of reviews out there for Tokyo Dining. It looks really good!

Wow this is a hard choice. I have once eaten at Teppan Edo but don't return because I can get good hibachi at home. I really do want to try Via Napoli, but, since we did Tutto last year & are doing Tony's & Mama Melrose's this year (even though those 2 aren't very "authentic"), I'm thinking maybe something besides Italian for something different.

And I'm having a hard time choosing between Rose & Crown & Chefs... and now, maybe, Tokyo Dining as well.

I think Chefs may be the most different to what we can get at home whereas Rose & Crown might feel a little too... normal? LOL! I'm not sure...

Teppan Edo Is defiantly my favorite in Epcot, not only because of the food, but also the hilarious chefs that prepare you meal!

Well, according to the poll, Teppan Edo is winning, so you're not the only one! I just don't want us to be disappointed & compare it our great Japanese restaurant here.

Ay yi yi! All afternoon I thought about it. I was kinda leaning toward Chefs. Now I'm going back toward Rose & Crown. We don't plan to still be at the restaurant for Illuminations, but a table out on the patio at Rose & Crown might be nice...

I think DH & I would both really like Tokyo Dining, but I'm not sure about the kids.

Any more advice & suggestions? :goodvibes

I voted for Tutto but it was a tough choice between that and Chefs.

I voted Biergarten. It's one of our favorites. The kids love to go down on the dance floor and do the polka. We actually love seeing who we get sat with and meeting new people. And LOVE the chicken schnitzel!!!

Love your thread since we were having the same debate. We did take Teppan Edo off our list for the same reason. We can do it at home. We are going to do Chef's and Rose and Crown for the first time this year. I voted for Tutto because we did love our meal. Our waitress suggested our dishes and they were delicious. But Biergarten comes a very dose 2nd. Loved. The atmosphere and entertainment and we enjoyed the food. We have done Marrakesh. The bellydancers were fun to watch, service was good. Not my favorite meal but not because the food was bad just different. It kind of reminds me of Indian food. If you have eaten that. It was worth going to, like you I love the Morrocan showcase. Can't wait to read more responses to see if they change my mind.

I notice that Bistro de Paris isn't on your poll, but you didn't specifically exclude it in your OP. It's my favorite World Showcase restaurant.

Bistro de Paris looks amazing! But, yes, I'm looking for a 1 TS restaurant. Additionally, I'm not sure Le Bistro is the best place for younger kids. Our younger ds will just be 3 when we go.

I voted for Tutto but it was a tough choice between that and Chefs.

We really enjoyed our appetizers & desserts at Tutto last year, & we'd return to Tutto. I just wanted something different for this year!

I voted Biergarten. It's one of our favorites. The kids love to go down on the dance floor and do the polka. We actually love seeing who we get sat with and meeting new people. And LOVE the chicken schnitzel!!!

That's good to hear about Biergarten! It's probably in the running for next year's trip! ;)

There are just too many good choices in the World Showcase! Last year, we actually added a day to our vacation, so I could fit in 1 more restaurant! LOL!

I really wish we had places for BOTH Rose & Crown & Chefs! I guess, if I dropped something else, we would... but I'm not sure what I would drop!

Marrakesh is still on my list as well!

Anyway, to update... After however many days it's been, I still haven't decided!!

DH & I discussed it last night. I showed him the menus for R & C & for Chefs & then we looked at pictures of some of the menu items.

He voted for R & C but also thinks La Hacienda looks good. I'm still leaning toward Chefs.

Pros for Chefs de France - if I get an early dinner (or late lunch & just do counter-service for dinner), we may see Remy. The desserts look amazing, & the rest of the items on the menu look more... I don't know... exciting. Additionally, Chefs has a Prix Fixe 3-course menu which would be nice since we'll have the basic DP. Plus, I just like the France World Showcase more than the UK Showcase.

Pros for Rose & Crown - the patio seating, & I don't have to worry about getting an early enough ADR to see a character. I think the kids will like the fish & chips at Rose & Crown better than the choices at Chefs. If we eat at R & C, I can still eat lunch at the Boulangerrie which is one of my most favorite places!

Also to note, according to my poll, Rose & Crown just has 3 votes, & Chefs de France has 6.

I don't know!! Looking at my "pros" above, I should probably just go ahead w/ Rose & Crown - I just don't want us to be disappointed. After dinner, we'll be staying for Illuminations, so I want our dinner to be nice, if that makes sense.

(And I think I'm making this harder than it should be! LOL!)

My family really likes Teppan Edo, even my picky DD who gets the noodles with vegetables. The atmosphere is fun and the food is really good. Another one that we really like is Tuto Italia, but I voted for Teppan Edo because it has a slight edge over Tuto Italia.
