I am debating on adding on direct at either Poly or CCV with the current round of incentives. We are going to pull the trigger on the 9th so we are locked into this round but can take a peak at the next round as well. We are a family of 5 ( twin girls just turned 1 🥳 and a 5 year old son). We are either going to be staying in 1 or two bedrooms.

Would you rather a favorite week in a 1 bedroom at Poly or a favorite week in a 2 bedroom CCV? Third option is splitting the contract into three 100 point contracts. The splitting is the option I am leaning towards but would like perspectives from the board to see if I may be overlooking something. Thanks!

I personally would do 2 bedroom at CCV - POLY point charts are so high that 1 bedrooms haven’t been moving that quickly (at least for the weeks I’ve been looking) + you’ll def appreciate more space as your kids get older.

Only downside is that it would be a lot of pts in a single contract, which personally I’m not a fan of (and I say this as an owner of multiple FWs).

Are you comfortable sharing the specific FW you’re interested in?

I find myself wondering if having such large contracts would negate the benefit of having a FW when it comes to resale. I don't know.

Beyond that, I guess for me it would come down to how difficult those room types are to book without a FW.

I have three children, I like the idea of having one contract for each if we ever wanted to pass them down. I think three 100 point contracts would hold their value more than one larger contract.

The favorite weeks we are considering, 51 or 52 (I think), sometime in December before the week of Christmas. CCV 2bdr would be the most points but would have that time of year locked in. However, we’d realistically only be able to travel during that time every 3-4 years at best. We typically go in the summer and I don’t see the benefit of having a favorite week in the summer.

Week 51 or 52 at CCV or Poly if we did a FW. The amount of points in one contract has me slightly concerned if we ever did need to sale.

However, we own other points as well, so these wouldn’t be our only points.

I feel like with a family of 5 you are going to end up in 2BR villas in the near future, and CCV is amazing at Christmas time, so I think I would lean that way if you wanted to go FW. OTOH, the one availability table I looked at suggests that 2BR are widely available at 11mos, though idk how accurate that is.

I’m biased as a FW52 owner at CCV - it is so nice not having to deal with walking that week. Though I do have a studio FW, which is a hard room to book - so to @tx911 point - I’m not sure how challenging availability is for a 2BR.

If you don’t plan on using it regularly, and you don’t have a DEC UY, I’d probably just go with the three 100 pt CCV contracts.

Or 2 FW studios?? Do they let you do that?

Buy a contract to use, not to sell.

I think this boils down to how hard you think it will be to book the room you want. If it is truly a hedge, then maybe splitting is fine. But if you think there is a genuine chance of competition for your desired trip, then a fixed week is peace of mind.

That said, a FW52 in a 2BR at CCV or a 1BR at PIT are both north of 500 points. That is a pretty large contract to bite off at one time for anyone, resale or not.

Hmmm must not be FW52. The one at CCV I got quoted was 329, which is still a very good size contract. I agree with a contract to use not to sell. However, I like hedges for peace of mind

They do let you, yes, if it’s available.

You just made me look at the FW charts again - I knew the studios were 199 pt but the 2 bedroom is 500 - I would be very nervous with a contract that large…
The crowds are insane too

So if it’s more of a hedge, you could check out FW39. Depending on how many points you want it’s 281 for a 2 bedroom. I haven’t done the calcs for that week for CCV but several of us own for RIV and POLY bc most years you come out ahead point wise.

Week 51 is typically the week WITH Christmas in it. Week 52 is the week between Christmas/New Years. So you might be thinking of weeks 48-50. Weeks 50-52 typically have block out dates for the using the Sorcerer Pass, so understand that you'd probably need to buy the more expensive pass and plan for crazy crowds.

However, you later mentioned you'd only use it every 3-4 years. So I'd recommend no on the favorite week since that is such a large amount of points tied into one contract. I think dividing it into 3 contracts has better value. Now, if you were planning to use the favorite week more often or it wasn't such a high point amount... but a 2 bedroom favorite week are very high.

Yes, it must be 48-50. I got the week from my guide at the beginning of January and have been mulling everything over ever since then. So, I turned to the DisExperts to see if I may be overlooking anything.
