Planning a trip for Feb 2010..possibly a large group. I have never gotten the dining plan and considering getting it for this trip.

Please tell me your favorite TS place in each park and WHY? Also if you have photos of food and pics of the atomosphere of the resturant please share. I am trying to put some info together for all the family I am recruiting for the trip :cool1:

Thanks so much...ready for another awesome trip to the world:woohoo:

Okay, to be fair I do NOT have much basis for comparison, except for MK where we ate 2 TS meals since we were there two days. I will also tell you that DH and I are not picky eaters but we are always concerned with quality. We are from NYC, and not to brag, but we have some of the best dining venues here at home. Here are the TS restaurants we went to in July:

Magic Kingdom: Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner (will no longer have characters starting this January); Crystal Palace for dinner (Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore)

Epcot: Biergarten in Germany (dinner)
DHS: Hollywood & Vine character breakfast (Playhouse Disney)
Did not have TS at Animal Kingdom.

Okay, for Magic Kingdom, we liked Crystal Palace better than LTT. The dinner was delicious (salmon is some of the best I ever tasted), IMO does NOT taste like typical buffet food and the desserts are outstanding.

At Epcot the only TS we ate in was Biergarten but we loved it. I am not picky in general, but I am picky when it comes to German food (there is only one German restaurant I will eat in here at home since it is actually authentic). This was delicious and VERY authentic! The CMs in each country at Epcot are actually from that country do the chefs know what they are doing! Highly recommended! Must-haves are sauerbraten (at dinner), pretzel bread, schnitzel, various German sausages (hot and cold), Bavarian cheesecake and black forest cake. Also wonderful choices for little ones if there are any with you.

At DHS, we loved the breakfast at Hollywood & Vine. Food on the buffet was delicious and they even had some desserts out! Excellent breakfast frittata, and traditional American breakfast items, and delicious Mickey waffles! Great service too, and excellent character interaction. Great for little ones who like Playhouse Disney.

And there you have it. We had our sons with us, who were 3 and 1 at the time. They loved all our meals out!!

In case you are wondering, we also had some nice TS meals at resort hotels, also on the dining plan. They were:

-Chef Mickey's breakfast (Contemporary resort): delicious and great character interaction!!
-1900 Park Fare dinner (Grand Floridian): great food though DH was not thrilled with the selection; great character interaction (Cinderella, Prince Charming, stepmother and stepsisters)
-Boma (Animal Kingdom Lodge): African themed dinner...delicious and very unique. DH and I have sensitive stomachs though and got heartburn later that night (unusual spices)...but they also have great children's selections on the buffet!

And...in case you were still wondering about the food at Liberty Tree Tavern, it was very good! Family style meal, roast turkey, beef and ham, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese. Delicious rolls with honey butter! And warm apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Although we never needed seconds or asked for them, the waiter came a few times to see if we wanted any more food.

Enjoy your planning! Our next trip is in July 2010 and I can't wait to go back and to get the dining plan again!!

AK - Yak & Yeti - excellent food, fried wonton dessert, nice decor and good service

DS - Sci-Fi Dine In Theater - average food, EXCELLENT theming

Epcot - there are so many great restaurants in WS; Tutto, Chef's, Le Cellier all have excellent meals. Our family favorite is Biergarten for the theming, atmosphere, entertainment and great food

MK - Crystal Palace - buffet with lots of yummy food choices and characters

Here you go:

thanks for your replies :)
On our last trip we ate CRT lunch (Dh didn't really care for the food) and Chef Mickeys (which we all enjoyed)

I am looking for great restaurants for the food and atmosphere for both children and adults. We are probably going to stay at FW camping.

Do you think the dining plan is worth the $$?

Can't I use as many credits a day I wish...so if I wanted to invite a friend to eat- can't I use my credit and pay for it. :surfweb:

If you want to do 3 table service meals in one day you are welcome to do that. However, you cannot use a credit to pay for a friend.

In december last year on our first day we were in DTD and the lady behind us in line offered to pay for our food. It was her last day and she was going to loose her credits. She paid for mine and my husbands..we only had to pay for the kids.

I was hoping to do the same :)

Technically you are only supposed to use your DDP credits for meals for the people who are listed on that DDP. Yes, some have gotten away with paying for others not on the plan by using their excess credits but I wouldn't count on that if I were you.

You can use the credits however you wish. They are all good until midnight of the day you check-out. So, if you want to use 2 or 3 of your TS credits in one day, and eat CS only the following day, go ahead. We used a CS and a TS each day, but the snacks were used more sporadically. We used a few at Epcot to sample some of the great food at WS. We used the 2 that were leftover on the final morning of the trip for snacks to bring on the road (fruit and a rice krispie treat). So, theoretically, if you were going to a park after checking out, you have the whole day to use the rest of your DDP credits, provided you have any left.

We found the DDP to be a great deal for us, mainly for our 3-year-old. Since we had planned to do several character meals anyway, this was a great value for us. Those character dinners would have cost us roughly $15 for our 3-year-old, but for the 2008 plan it only cost us $10 per day for him, plus it gave him a CS lunch and a snack each day. This was by far a great deal for us. Many people complain that the appetizer is no longer included, but if you are like us and do all-you-can-eat meals then this is not an issue, as the full buffet is included. Like I said for us it made sense because of the character meals. We saved lots of money based on our original dining plans and so we were glad that Disney had a dining plan!!

My picks:

MK: Liberty Tree (food plus low noise level)
EPCOT: San Angel Inn (food and ambiance)
DHS: Hollywood and Vine (only TS I've been to there...good selection!)
AK: Park closes early, so I would go to AKL and dine at Boma (very good)

Magic: Liberty Tavern
Epcot: Bistro de Paris, followed closely by Teppan Edo
DHS: Mama Melrose's
AK: Yak and Yeti

Non Park: Flying Fish @ Boardwalk

Sorry I don't have any pictures to share, but here is my favorites:
MK: Crystal Palace
AK: Rainforest Cafe
DHS: 50's PTC
Epcot: Tutto Italia and LeCellier are a tie!

Favorite Resort TS: Kona Cafe
Favorite DtD eatery: Wolfgang Puck Express in the Market Place.
