We are planning a trip in Dec., and we want to have a sit down meal at MGM. I have read so many mixed reviews about all the restaraunts, so this is hard. The only one that we are NOT interested in is the Brown Derby, simply b/c it takes 2 TS credits. I'd apreciate everyone's input!:thumbsup2
So..what's your favorite, and why?
Thanks!

We are eating at Hollywood and Vine...Character Breakfast...it should be fun! (If you have little ones)

I have heard that 50's prime Time is really fun, and the Sci-Fi is fun too! I will be eating at all of them, because I cannot decide...plus, I have not been there is several years!

I know that does not help, but there's my 2 cents...

50's Prime Time is your next best choice after the Brown Derby. The food is decent and sometimes good and it's a fun place to eat.

We've eaten at all the sit downs at MGM and our favorite is Sci Fi, but 50's Prime Time is also nice. Depends what kind of food and atmosphere you'd like.

50's prime time is fun, comfort food. However, I vote for Brown Derby, even though you said no...

We love  Sci-Fi. It's the one ADR we do every trip. The food is yummy, but nothing special for the most part- burgers and whatnot. However, the onion rings and shakes are fabulous and the theming is soooo unique and cool.

We thought 50's was just okay- but so much of whether that restaurant is really fun is wrapped up in the server you get- whereas the cars and movies are at the Sci-Fi no matter who you end up with.

Just my two pennies, of course.

this is so true! the first time DH and I went, just the 2 of us, we had a really great "sister" who only let him have 1/2 his milkshake before dinner, and found the green beans he had hidden in his ketchup. She made him go stand with his nose to the wall! He also had to wear a bib. The second time was just eh, because the CM was just eh.

For us, a trip to WDW is not complete without a trip to '50s Primetime Cafe. We just love it there. The food is good and the servers are fun. We've never had a bad time there.

And I know you said you didn't want to use two credits for the Brown Derby, but I do have to say how much we liked it. When we ate there, it wasn't a Signature restaurant, so we only used one credit. We had an excellent meal there as well. It's one of the best restaurants in all of WDW and is, I think, very underrated.

I would skip something else and eat at the Brown Derby - absolutely great dinner there....

i love sci-fi. the servers make it fun, if you get a good one. i also have had only good experiences at mama melrose's, but have heard some interesting things as of late, such as that they're charging for bread now, which used to be free.

We've eaten at most of the TS restaurants at MGM and the one we keep going back to is Sci-Fi...the food isn't the best you'll find but the atmosphere more than makes up for it.

If anyone wants to see a few pics of the inside of Sci-Fi we have several on pg 10 of our May Trip Report (link in sig)
