Hey everyone!!!!

I hope that your are all well and in great Disney spirits!!!!
Just wanted to find out what your favorite tips were when travel to the WORLD in January and February?

Looking forward to my first visit:)

Shan

To pack my gloves and hat. You will need them especially if you watch fireworks..trust me.

Be prepared for all types of weather. We've worn shorts in January and the kids have played in the pools. We've also worn three layers, hats, and gloves to keep warm.

You'll have a great time no matter what!:)

Stay one step ahead of the South American tour groups. :) And I agree with other posts regarding the weather. I've seen it in the 30s at night or 80s during the day.

Be prepared for very cold weather. We cut our first trip with the kids short because of bad weather. We had 70s during the day for 3 days, then the weather became highs in the low 40s with very cold rain and wind. Our kids (2.5 years) couldn't take it, so we left WDW early.

Im going to be camping in orlando for 6 weeks from jan 30th onwards, guess i better take my thermals. Although im sure orlando cold is nothing compared to uk cold so im sure i'll be ok.

The January cold in Orlando has at times rivalled that in NY so be prepared. One AM we had frost on our car, gee the one thing I didn't have the foresight to bring from home was our ice scraper.

The wide open spaces make the wind brutal, particularly at Epcot. Bring your UK winter clothes and some for warmer weather. It is particularly nippy at evening events with no sun to warm you up.

Have at least a full day off between the day you get home and your first day back to work. We couldn't get back to Philadelphia in January because of MAJOR snow and my husband had work the next morning. :scared1:

Also, bring a coat! It was FREEZING!!! We spent a lot of time in the hot tub at our resort...it was the best place to warm up!!

I hear you there...I'll be at Disney from Jan 20th to 27th 2012. Meanwhile back in Manitoba (where Im travelling from ) it will be -30*c to -50*c every day. So I think i'll make out just fine! :rotfl:

Hello fellow Canucker :goodvibes ITA, coming from Alberta with the same temps...you'll love Florida in January...I've gone twice, Once Jan 15-24/2008 and once Feb 5-13, 2011....so far both trips have been blessed with Decent weather. we had a little rain this last Feb trip, but overall it was fine with a hoody in the evening and capris during the day.....even swam during both trips. My next trip will be sometime near the end of January 2013....hoping for decent weather again, so far we've been lucky! One constant we can count on, however, is it is ALWAYS better at WDW than home!!! :goodvibes

You got that right!:cool2:, hope your string of good weather continues! I think I'll do just fine not having to plug my vehicle in or watching out for suicidal deer on the highway for that week for sure.:rotfl:

Wow, -50? i thought -10 was bad last winter.

Dress in layers..short sleeve tee with sweatshirt or light jacket. We bring those knit gloves from the dollar store. But keep in mind that you can usually swim in the afternoon when the sun id out

YES to the travel time tip! 2 years ago we had to stay 2 extra nights because we couldn't get back to NC. I was fine with staying, but had not planned that in my budget! I tried to have the "this is by far the best place to be stuck!" attitude, and for the most part it worked!

We have a trip planned for feb.
My boys are taking their wet suits so they can go to the water parks - does anyone know how warm the water will be?

We went in February 2008 (week of presidents day) and the weather was awesome! Shorts or capris during the day and jeans and sweatshirts at night! PERFECT!!
We are going again this February!! Cant wait!
Hope you have a MAGICAL time!!!
:cheer2:

Check ahead of your trip so you aren't upset about any refurbishments since certain rides (or water parks or seasonal restaurants) are often closed for a period like Splash Mountain.

The hotel pools are heated (I assume the water park is the same?) and are nice even in the winter unless it is really cold out.
