What are your favoriter activities to do in the resort with your kids? Staying at a value in the summer, and looking for fun, non-park ideas. :cutie:

Well, we definitely stayed at a resort that would be great for people who want to do things around the resort. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. The kids loved the boat rides, they loved the campfire, they loved the pool, they wanted to catch the outdoor movie (we just were never around for it). We had wanted to catch YeeHaw Bob but didn't get a chance. There were things you could do for a fee too but we didn't. We did get some arcade credits for free so the kids got to use those. You could rent a fishing pole to fish, the 'pedal cars' not sure what they are called, you could fit a family on them but they could fit on the walkways. You could get a horse drawn carriage ride (the grounds on POR are beautiful).
Look into what your specific resort offers :) We'll be doing Fort Wilderness next time (due to the size of our family, I would totally stay at Riverside again but our youngest will be 4 on our next trip so we need a room to fit 6, cabins it is!) and I know they offer many of the same things but I am not sure what is offered by all the resorts.

We stayed at ASMu last year. We really enjoyed the pool at the resort (Small pool and the bigger one).

The nightly movies by the pool are fun, has a Drive-In feeling.

On the last night we enjoyed the Arcade.

Which one? If you're at AoA (or POP - you can walk to AoA from there), there is a lot for the littles to do. In addition to the great blue pool, there are playgrounds/areas, and tons of exploring to be done. I would take some time to walk around each section (Little Mermaid, Lion King, Cars and Nemo). The Cars section in particular is cool and has tons of great photo ops.

At Fort Wilderness you can see all of the Disney horses in the barn, ride horses and ponys, there is a great playground by the marina, roast marshmallows and have a sing along with chip and dale, archery for the kids....lots of fun!
And most of the resorts also do pool side activities everyday.
Have a great trip!!!

Just booked Pop!

Pop is especially good for exploring with little kids. When we stayed there once before, I went out for a walk one morning before everybody else woke up and, while out and about, I took notes about all sorts of cool things around the resort and turned it into a scavenger hunt for them. Makes for a fun hour or two of activity unto itself, but also lets them/you explore the resort once you're there and identify the pools, playground, outdoor Twister game, etc., which they will then remember and want to visit again once the scavenger hunt is over. We used a little cash/gift card as a prize, knowing we'd be spending that same money on the kids anyway, but at least that gave them something to "win."

While at Pop, also "explore" the food court in search of the King cupcake (chocolate, banana, peanut butter and candied bacon).

And as someone else noted, you can just walk across the bridge now to AoA and explore the different areas over there, which are pretty awesome.

Just remembered that AoA also has animation classes in their lobby at various times during the day -- e.g., how to draw Mickey or Donald, etc., etc. These are free to whomever cares to sit there and learn.

At POR we've done Surrey Bikes, and it was so much fun! They also had CM's come into the food court area at POR when we had dinner late at night, and they led the kids around in a little "parade" with instruments they handed out. We took the ferry from POR to DTD, it was nice but I can tell you it was slowwwww. Don't take it if you're in a hurry LOL.

We've never done the late-night outdoor free movies at the resorts, but I know they had them. We were just too tired :).

Ooh, thats right up my oldest daughters alley - Thanks for that! I really wish we were booked at WL because they have so many great activities at the hotel, but it just wasn't in the budget right now, being a last minute trip and all.

Thanks again everyone!
