Those of you that have been on the Western Cruise what are some of your favorite souveniers that you have bought at the different ports or from the gift shop on board? I love to shop and wondering what great things I can look forward to :earsgirl:

I'm not sure if you like alcohol but in Cozumel, at the end of the dock, there is the Punta Lagosta mall. The 1st shop on the lower level sells amazingly priced alcohol. We usually buy gifts for our clients and some have expensive tastes. We usually pay about 192.00 a bottle for Johnny Walker Blue label here, and in Cozumel it's just 122.00 and with no tax. A savings of over 70.00 per bottle. Bicardi rum is 11.00 for the 1.75 liter size and other savings are just as good. Each adult above 21 can bring back up to 1 liter before duty is owed and even then its only about 10% of the purchase price. We were over by 5 bottles (rum and kahlua) and when we went to declare the extra bottles the fee was less then 4.00 and the agent told us that for less then 10.00 they don't even collect anything, so we were on our way for free. Sure beats trying to smuggle the extra liquer in.

We have not done the Western on DCL, but my favorite souvenier from the west is from Tulum (the Mayan Ruins).
Some of the artists at Tulum will take your special date (we chose our engagement date) and translate it into Mayan Hieroglyphics.
It comes on a 1'x2' scroll, but we had ours framed when we got home. We placed the order on the tour bus, and it was ready when we left Tulum. Very Cool!

Pictures are definitely my treasured souvenirs...

but my absolute favouritest (this is why I'm not an english major... I like making up my own language) souvenir is a silver stingray necklace that my mom bought for me (and my sister) in Grand Caymen Islands after the three of us did the Stingray Adventure.

In Key West, there is a wonderful discount shoe store (I mean $5-$10 for some pretty good shoes, more expensive for really fancy shoes) where I bought a really nice pair of gray sandals.

Also, delSol is a funplace to shop, even if its just to go in and play with the sun lights.

I also love shopping, but I have to keep myself in check between the ports and the ship (Disney merchandise is amazing... especially the clothes. It's expensive, but it lasts!) as I have at least another 5 years of school ahead of me :S

Hope you have fun!

Send yourself a postcard from every port you visit. You can put them in your photo album with the postage stamp side out. (if you buy postcards on the island you are on to send home, you might want to buy two of them (so you can see the front and back)

was the first pin that BF and I traded...it was a team effort!!!

Key West - Key Lime Pie & Conch Fritters (they don't last long though).

Grand Cayman - Cuban Cigars (thay last longer than the Key West items, just don't try to bring them back into the states)

Cozumel - Silver Jewelery

Castaway Cay - Our holographic cups of Castaway Cay.

On Board - Photos

I loved the Key lime cookies we bought in Key west.

I also loved the bottle of vanilla we bought in Key west. (I used most all of it for baking this past Christmas, and wished I'd bought two bottles!):(

Actually, the above thread should have read the bottle of vanilla we bought in Cozumel.

I definitely second (or third, I think I've lost track) the key lime souvenires.... although mine was in the form of key lime hand lotion and a piece of key lime pie gone within minutes.

Boy, thinking of all the disney souvenires that I love....

princess: I WISH I WAS A DISNEY PRINCESS!!! princess:

Imagine all the souvenirs you could get at the ports and on the ship...

for sure alchohol in Cozumel. It is very cheap! If you are wanting T-shirts, you will probably also pay less in Cozumel, but then the quality is not the best.

My favorite thing from Key West is Kino Sandals. These are hand made sandals right in Key West, and they last forever and are cheap. I have gotten so many compliments on different pairs I bought there, that now when i go through Key West, I always have to pick up extra pairs for my friends. You just can't beat the quality or the price!

DH surprised me on our last cruise with a crystal block that has the Magic lasered inside it. It is beautiful! Every time I look at it I have wonderful memories of our cruise!

We shopped till we dropped, but our favorite souveniors were:

Key West - Didn't shop too much here, but my dd and I got matching handcarved parrot earrings to wear on Tropical Night.

Grand Cayman - Our holiday Steel Drum CD - reminds us of the holiday cruise.

Cozumel - The Dolphin Swim Video we purchased after our swim. Nothing can beat that! We have watched it over and over again - defintely worth the high price for it. I also love the tanzanite and austrailian opal ring I got for my birthday.

Castaway Cay - The Holiday Castaway Shirts that they had for Christmas (we cruised 12/6-13). We got them immediately before heading to the beach - they were only $10! Kids were $7! Best bargain and they were sold out by noon. We also got those holographic cups and LOVE them!

On the Magic itself - Actually it wasn't something we bought, but won - my dd and I won Mickey Mania and got Medals and coins, and my dd won on Who Wants to be a Mousekeeter ($80 credit and the infamous pin they give out). The memories of that is better than anything.

Since I have not done the Western I can't answer that part but my favorite item purchased from the ship is the Christopher Radko ornament of the ship. It is not seasonal (Christmas that is because it is always cruising season) and I have it out most of the year on an ornament stand. As others have already stated - your pictures and memories are the absoulte best!

Oops - I also forgot - OUR MAGIC CHRISTMAS CARDS!!! That was the best souvioner that all our friends and family could enjoy too. I told my husband now we HAVE to cruise during the holiday season every year just to have our Disney Magic Christmas! By the way the price was VERY reasonable - 100 for $59.00 - cheaper than the photo store here!

We loved the rum cakes from Grand Cayman - particularly the Tortuga Rum Cakes. They travel great and the small ones are the right size to give away to friends and family when you return. They have a 6-month shelf life (12 months in the frige). I also got a couple of big ones and are saving them for our anniversary and my birthday so we can remember our great trip!

Oh, I forgot to say my favorite one from the ship -- well I guess it's not technically from the ship but here's what I did:
I bought a "container clock" from one of the Bed & Bath type stores. (clear plastic clock with space to fill with collectibles) While on the ship, my family collected things to put in the clock and small pictures (found on post cards, pamphlets, etc.) to cut out and glue over the numbers of the clock face. Our "disney cruise clock" has sand and shells from CC, a medal we won during one of the games, a chocolate that they leave in your room, a matchbook. I used two stamps I bought at CC post office to go over the "9" and "3" and, my favorite part, used two "gems" that my son won during a treasure hunt on CC and glued one on each of the clock hands.

My DSister purchased this the last time we went....and i am having buyers regret!!! so this will be on my list in November!
It is beautiful displayed all year!:jester:

I thought of a few more things...

I don't know wether or not you are into pin trading, but there are lots of pins that are DCL exclusive (you can only get them on the cruise) that are absolutely beautiful and are good traders/sellers.

If you're thinking of some nice, not too too expensive gifts to bring home, the glass beer mugs are a great gift (they're tall with the DCL logo, you can ones that don't say espn) for around $10. We also bought some really nice cheap bead necklaces at cozumel that are beautiful.

I think I already mentioned this in my last post, but...
KEY LIME KEY LIME KEY LIME.. the piece of key lime pie that I had at Key West was the best I have ever had. My sister also had a piece of pie, but hers was dipped in chocolate and she said that it was heavenly.

There are lots of souvenirs that are free, and they're worth more in their memory than in their weight of gold. We have a Disney Wall at home, and we have our KKTW cards, our leis from the Tropical night, we have postcards, luggage tags etc...

Depending on your tastes, there rae plenty of souvenirs both on the ship and on the port. (Go for the key lime!!!)
