Next you know she'll be touring the Northeast....singing our favorite tunes!!!!!!

Oh, Gail.....I used to listen to that song and cry and cry......my mom had to take the phonograph away from me because I just played it over and over.

This is for my dad.....we used to ride in the car and he'd turn it up full blast when it was on the radio......

Ob-la-di Ob-la-da

Desmond has a barrow in the market place
Molly is the singer in a band
Desmond says to Molly-girl I like your face
And Molly says this as she takes him by the hand.
Obladi oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on
Obladi Oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on.

Desmond takes a trolley to the jewelry stores
Buys a twenty carat golden ring
Takes it back to Molly waiting at the door
And as he gives it to her she begins to sing.

In a couple of years they have built
A home sweet home
With a couple of kids running in the yard
Of Desmond and Molly Jones.

Happy ever after in the market place
Molly lets the children lend a hand
Desmond stays at home and does his pretty face
And in the evening she's a singer with the band.

And if you want some fun-take Obladi Oblada.

Okay, guys....now I'm dying of embarrassment.

This is for all of you........

I get by with a little help from my friends,
Yes I get by with a little help from my friends,
With a little help from my friends.

Anybody remember that old commerical....concerned wife upset because "Jim never asks for a second cup of coffee at home"

There was a great take-off on it in the movie Airplane but I digress....

Now I can say "What's Gina got that I don't? I've never gotten so many posts to a thread I've started!" :teeth:

How about
Who Will Buy?
Who will buy this wonderful feeling?
I'm so high i swear i could fly, me oh my!
I don't want to lose it
So what am i to do to keep the sky so blue?
There must be someone who will buy!
Such a sky you never did see
Who will tie it all with a ribbon?
And put it in a box for me
So i can sit at my leisure
Whenever things go wrong
And i can keep it as a treasure
To last my whole life long.

My favorite song is "Belief" by Gavin DeGraw (he's relatively unknown but I LOVE HIM! He's an AWESOME live performer - I saw him onstage, opening for Maroon 5 at a club around here) Anyway, the chorus goes:

"Tonight, you arrested my mind
When you came to my defense
With a knife
In the shape of your mouth
In the form of your body
With the wrath of a God
Oh, you stood by me..."

You have to hear the song to get the full effect - I love him!
Go out and buy his CD, "Chariot" right now! Or see him live - he's amazing!

Great thread! Here are some lines I love.

Born under a bad sign.
I've been down since I began to crawl.
If it wasn't for bad luck,
I wouldn't have no luck at all.

That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale.

Excuse me please
You're standing on my memories
Stealing souvenirs again
I want to be alone.

I won't slave for beggar's pay
likewise gold and jewels
but I would slave to learn the way
to sink your ship of fools.

Remember one man's ceiling is another man's floor!

I'll have to think of more.

Goodnight you moonlight ladies
Rockabye sweet baby James
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose
Won't you let me go down in my dreams
And rockabye sweet baby James

Now the first of December was covered with snow
And so was the turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston
Lord, the Berkshires seemed dream - like on account of that frosting
With ten miles behind me and ten thousand more to go

I love this one from James Taylor. It always makes me picture myself going through life on a roller coaster.

Isn't that the truth??? I love that one too MerryPoppins

circus slim, I had the pleasure of seeing the Eagles in concert this summer, hearing Joe Walsh do "Life's been Good" live...awesome :teeth:

CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT???????????
::yes:: :teeth: :hyper:

This is from Phantom of the Opera-Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again.

You were once
my one companion . . .
you were all
that mattered . . .
You were once
a friend and father -
then my world
was shattered . . .

Wishing you were
somehow here again . . .
wishing you were
somehow near . . .
Sometimes it seemed
if I just dreamed,
somehow you would
be here . . .

Wishing I could
hear your voice again . . .
knowing that I
never would . . .
Dreaming of you
won't help me to do
all that you dreamed
I could . . .

Passing bells
and sculpted angels,
cold and monumental,
seem, for you,
the wrong companions -
you were warm and gentle . . .

Too many years
fighting back tears . . .
Why can't the past
just die . . .?

Wishing you were
somehow here again . . .
knowing we must
say goodbye . . .
Try to forgive . . .
teach me to live . . .
give me the strength
to try . . .

No more memories,
no more silent tears . . .
No more gazing across
the wasted years . . .
Help me say
goodbye.

How 'bout this one, from Bob Dylan:

Tangled Up in Blue

Early one mornin' the sun was shinin', I was layin' in bed
Wond'rin if she'd changed at all if her hair was still red
Her folks they said our lives together sure was gonna be rough
They never did like Mama's homemade dress
Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough
And I was standin' on the side of the road rain fallin' on my shoes
Heading out for the East Coast
Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through tangled up in blue

She was married when we first met soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam, I guess, but I used a little too much force
We drove that car as far as we could abandoned it out West
Split up on a dark sad night both agreeing it was best
She turned around to look at me as I was walkin' away
I heard her say over my shoulder,
We'll meet again someday on the avenue, tangled up in blue

I had a job in the great north woods working as a cook for a spell
But I never did like it all that much and one day the ax just fell
So I drifted down to New Orleans where I happened to be employed
Workin' for a while on a fishin' boat right outside of Delacroix
But all the while I was alone the past was close behind
I seen a lot of women, but she never escaped my mind,
And I just grew tangled up in blue

She was workin' in a topless place and I stopped in for a beer
I just kept lookin' at the side of her face in the spotlight so clear
And later on as the crowd thinned out I's just about to do the same
She was standing there in back of my chair
Said to me, "Don't you know my name?"
I muttered somethin' under my breath
She studied the lines on my face, I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe, tangled up in blue

She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe
I thought you'd never say hello, she said
You look like the silent type.
Then she opened up a book of poems and handed it to me
Written by an Italian poet from the thirteenth century
And every one of them words rang true and glowed like burnin' coal
Pourin' off of every page like it was written in my soul from me to you
Tangled up in blue

I lived with them on Montague Street in a basement down the stairs
There was music in the cafes at night and revolution in the air
Then he started into dealing with slaves and something inside him died
She had to sell everything she owned and froze up inside
And when finally the bottom fell out I became withdrawn
The only thing I knew how to do was to keep on keepin' on
Like a bird that flew, tangled up in blue

All the people we used to know they're an illusion to me now
Some are mathematicians some are carpenter's wives
Don't know how it all got started
I don't know what they're doin' with their lives
But me, I'm still on the road headin' for another joint
We always did feel the same we just saw it from another point of view
Tangled up in blue

Here are some more lines I like.

I can see clearly now the rain is gone.
I can see all obstacles in my way.
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind.
It's gonna be bright, bright sunshinin' day.

'Scuse me while I kiss the sky

Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman and talked like a man

And now here is one that mothers all will be saying when it snows........

Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow!

Forever by Dennis Wilson (Beach Boys)
If every word I said
Could make you laugh
I'd talk forever (together my love)
I ask the sky just what we had
It shone forever
If the song I sing to you
Could fill your heart with joy
I'd sing forever
Forever
Forever
I've been so happy loving you

Let the love I have for you
Live in your heart
And beat forever (together my love)
Forever
Forever
I've been so happy loving you

So I'm goin' away
but not forever

The song that makes me think of my dad, Crazy by Patsy Cline

Crazy, I'm crazy for feeling so lonely
I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you'd leave me for somebody new
Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wond'ring what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you.

My favorite Edwin McCain Lyric Beautiful Life

and i hope i never see the day
when there's nothing left on the planet left to save
and oxygen is the designer crusade
as we all fight to breathe

I can only imagine

What it will be like

When I walk by Your side

I can only imagine

What my eyes will see

When Your face is before me

I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel

Will I dance for you Jesus, or in awe of You be still

Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall

Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all

I can only imagine

I can only imagine

When that day comes

And I find myself standing in the Son

I can only imagine

When all I will do

Is forever, forever worship You

I can only imagine

I like it so much my mom put it in my "ad" in my senior yearbook
