Favorite Servers

Thought that it would be fun to talk about the servers that have stood out in a POSITIVE way when dining at Disney.

I will start.

At Trail's End, we really liked Ken - 2004. His service was good, but he was just so CUTE - and not necessarily in appearance - but his demeanor. We have a picture of him and our DDs.

At the Cape May Cafe - 2003, we loved Cindy! A tiny Asian woman. She had worked at WDW for 18 years, I think, and was headed for China to help open Disney Hong Kong. She was an excellent server and again, was just so CUTE! And again, we got a picture of her with our family.

And at the 1900 Park Fare - there is a server that we have had maybe 3 times or more. I don't recall his name but he is Hispanic, and probably in his later 50's. Not "cute" like Ken and Cindy, but he has always provided us with excellent service. Maybe someone else knows his name?

OK - anyone else want to talk about favorite servers that you have had at Disney Restaurants?

There is a server Cathy at the crystal palace whom we really like. My ds also loved a server dorothy who was at the beach club. Dh and I liked Jessie at the Grand Floridian Cafe. We also like to talk to the servers in norway about the country and culture since we have visited there. We also like lipoa at Ohanas. And Jason at Hollywood and Vine was cool, I don't know if he is still there because he was getting married.

I have to mention Zack at the Yachtsman Steakhouse!

My favorite WDW server story...we made our very first trip to WDW in the fall of 1993. DD#1 had just turned 4 and was terrified of the characters....it was kind of a love/hate thing...she was fascinated by them and wanted to spend hours staring at them but would totally freak if they got too close (I know...it's wierd...but she turned out all right!!)

She had an autograph book that she would send up to all the characters with her little sister (barely 2 and totally in love with every character we saw). We had gone for dinner to the character cafe at the CR (where Chef Mickey's is now) and we had an incredible server "George"...he took her autograph book around to all the characters for her, he laid a napkin on the floor by our table and made a big deal about keeping all the characters behind the napkin so they didn't freak her out....and best of all....at the end of the meal he took her autograph book and told her he was magic....he could write backwards....and in the incredibly neat cursive he wrote a little poem and signed her autograph book!!

She was totally impressed!! (so was I actually)...we went back there on 3 or 4 trips before it closed to make way for Chef Mickeys and always waited for a table in "George's" section....every time he would write backwards in her autograph book and to this day she loves his autographs!! (she also started carrying her autograph book with her everywhere and she loved getting autographs from waiters, waitresses, the guy at the pony rides and the nurse at the first aid station when she fell and cut her knee, etc, etc!! I think they all thought she was a little odd, but in the best Disney CM spirit they all signed cheerfully and some even wrote little ditty's....that first autograph album is still her favorite!!)

I always wondered what happened to George...we never saw him after the character cafe closed.

We love Princess Becky at Tony's. She always remembers us and ask about other family members from previous trips. She has always made our meals very memorable. Her husband also works there and he is nice as well. About threee years ago, there was also a wonderful CM at the Whispering Canyon (I'm sorry I don't remember his name). My youngest dd had drank some soured milk and wasn't feeling well. He went into the back and got a blanket and made a little "bed out of two chairs for her to lie down on while the rest of us ate. He seemed genuinely concerned for dd.

I really liked Janet at Jiko. She was maybe just the teensiest bit too chatty, but not in a nosy way. And she really knew her stuff. She went through virtually the entire wine list with the two guys at the table next to us and seemed to be able to talk knowledgeably about each wine on the list.

Anas from the 50's Prime Time Cafe. He had our family in tears from laughter, including my very anti-Disney mother. We ask for him every time we go

Annie at Boma....... she was awesome, sweet, helpful and just plain great to talk to.

I remember going to the old Coral Isle Cafe at the Poly in 1978 and a young server named "Teddy" took a fancy to my sister. He was a great server... lots of fun and very good at his job. Fast forward 26 years and imagine my surprise when he was waiting tables at CRT for lunch (before the princesses invaded). I recognized him and his nametag and struck up a conversation and after all the intervening years he remembered my sister's name! Imagine her shock when I took a picture of him with DW!

Other notable servers were Kat at Cape May, Cousin Brenda at 50's Prime Time, Charlie at WCC and Becky at Artist Point.

Maria at Beaches and Cream. We ate there on our trip in April. She was great! Just returned from our September trip and she still remembered us. She is the perfect example of what every waitress/waiter should strive to be!

I really liked Taz at California Grill last week. Very nice guy, knows his wine, fun to chat with, and friendly.

We love Taz as well, as well as another Gentlemen who is from the Buckeye state who served us in January at Cali Grill. He didn't have a hard time selling us on some of the Rieslings

Amine from Morocco at Cape May. He has taken care of us on three occasions during different visits and has remembered us each time. I remember him due to his name (I'm a former polymer/polyAMINE chemist LOL ) This is a great thread.

We were really impressed with Charlie at Spoodles...he told us how to make practically everything he served us!! YUM!

And Laurie at Liberty Tree Tavern was just so sweet...we could tell she was busy and things were kinda hectic, but she never lost her smile!

Neil at Rose and Crown is a real sweetie! He was so polite and easy to talk to. He got his degree in some computer related field in England, so he decided to take a year and do something different by working at Disney. Dh and I really liked him.

We also LOVED Michael Todd at the Crystal Palace. He was so funny! He is exactly what a Disney CM should be like!
