Hi--

In a few months DH and I are taking our (then) 20 month old twins to Disney! We're staying off-site so we'll do breakfast, and a few dinners there. We plan on eating quick meals often, since dining with little ones can be hard. But, we do want to do a few table service meals.

So far we know we're booking at Tusker, 50's Prime Time, and possibly Boma on another day than Tusker.

What other places do you recommend with little kids? Other than Rain forest Cafe, what's a good choice for DTD?

FYI--I don't think we'll do character meals this time around, I'm worried the kiddos would just be too scared.

Thanks!!:)

HAHA title should say Toddlers of course!

We took our twins when they were 2 1/2 and found the best way to feed them was at character buffets. They can eat off your plate so there is no shortage of food and a large variety. And the characters entertain them. Not to mention it is usually loud so any noises they will make (not necessarily bad noise) wont bother anyone.

Just saw that you think the kids will be scared. You can always tell the handlers to skip your table and the characters can be seen from a safe distance

For children that small I would suggest;

Crystal Palace - Breakfast with Tigger and Pooh - and the buffet has more adult offerings for breakfast, and the kiddo's can eat off of your plate.

Chef Mickeys - Breakfast with the Fab 5 - this is fun for kids at any age. Again the children can eat off of your plate.

The reason I suggest breakfast is that the kids are fresh, and may be more comfortable with the Character's. Also it will give you a chance for pictures. I would hold DD and stand next to the character. She was fine with that just did not want them one on one yet.

Have a wonderful time.

I would not do 50's because the interaction can seem harsh to little ones who don't get the jokes. I also would skip boma. Buffets without characters mean children might get hot food on their head if they jump out of their seats like 2's do. I agree that chef mickeys and crystal palace are much better. Alos CS meals allow for more freedom. We really think AK barbecue place is pretty and little kids can walk around without danger.

Maybe go to Chuck E Cheese and let them meet Chucky so you can anticipate their reaction at Character meal.

Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner - no characters and it is served family style, all you can eat and kid friendly foods.

Hollywood & Vine dinner is a buffet no characters.

Meals that are either buffet or all you can eat are good for toddlers because you can feed them whatever they want for free.

Ive had a toddler with me for the past 2 years trips, this trip he is 3 and on the dining plan himself.

Our toddler loved both Rainforest Cafe and Trex cafe at DD, though both are loud. Our son liked the noise.

I agree 50s primetime is not worth it, just ate there for the 1st time 3 weeks ago and was not impressed, by the food or the service or theme.

My twins will be 2 1/2 when we go and I'm going with the philosophy of the louder the place the better, so that we will blend in lol. And entertainment for the kids is good too. Many buffets and family style meals so the kids eat free. As of now our plans are Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys, Akershus, Boma, Ohana, 50s Prime Time, Whispering Canyon, Coral Reef (I'm hoping they will be enthralled with the fish tanks here), and Boatwrights (only because we are staying at POFQ).

Of these places 50s PT is the only one I have actually been to before and I know it gets mixed reviews on here but I really enjoyed it a lot and I will feel comfortable taking the kids there.

We were just at the world in June with our 23 month old daughter...honestly, we didn't choose meals based on ease..

We loved Tusker House and Hollywood and Vine breakfast (the food was good and the characters make their rounds pretty quick)...chef mickey's we waited an hour and no characters got over to our section so we ended up leaving without seeing them!

We did some signature dinners, and in between courses one of us would take our daughter for a short walk to let off some steam, then return to the table to finish our meal.

Buffets definitely are the easiest because you aren't waiting around for your food and you can finish up and leave at your own pace, but don't hesitate to try a sit-down, your twins may surprise you!

we went with my toddler daughter and she loved the princess lunch at Akershus. Since you can see their faces, the princesses tend to not be as scary as some of the other characters - but obviously you know your kids the best

We did Raglan Road at DTD and she enjoyed herself there as well. We were seated in a back room that seemed to have a lot of families so that worked out well.

Biergarten is another really fun non-character buffet that's more kid friendly than it sounds.

We also did Biergarten with our 3 year old granddaughter. Since it was buffet we didn't have to wait for food, and she loved the band and dancing before and after lunch.

I would not do 50's because the interaction can seem harsh to little ones who don't get the jokes. I also would skip boma. Buffets without characters mean children might get hot food on their head if they jump out of their seats like 2's do. I agree that chef mickeys and crystal palace are much better. Thanks for the advice everyone! I appreciate it.

Just curious, why not Boma? Our kids will be in high chairs, so not able to jump out and run around. Is there another reason to skip Boma? My DH and I loved it when we went pre-kids. Thanks!
