Favorite Restaurant Off Property

AMEN!!! Same here! :thumbsup2 THANKS for posting this thread.
I'm not sure when exactly it will be open and where exactly it will be, but a restaurant that started here in MN not quite 10 years back and will be opening up a satellite in Orlando soon. It's more high end and has FANTASTIC, innovative food. Crave. I'll drive to wherever it is if I'm craving Crave while I'm there. I'm actually very much looking forward to eating off site. I'm not paying over a honey-bee for a cr*ppy meal anymore. Breakfast in the room, CS on the run and off site for most dinners. YAY!
I've done the searches for restaurants in the area, but I'm also planning on just hopping on 192 from AKV and see what we see. :) No 180 day ADRs! HA! I want to be able to walk in to some places and I'll make ressies at others. Being strapped to a clock and a whip is getting less and less fun on vacations.:rolleyes1

It will be opening just outside the Mall at Millenia. Not sure when but they are taking over a restaurant that recently closed. We'll give it a try. Thanks

Oooo. Thanks! My DH and a best friend say their sushi is the BEST anywhere. I'm not a sushi person so I'll defer. :) they are mostly known for the sushi, but I manage to eat just fine. :rolleyes1

Margaritaville, Chevy's, Giordano's, Perkins just cause we don't have one and we like plain comfort food sometimes. :)

Sushi? Love Sushi! We'll have to see if that's open in April!

Turn down your volume tho. I hate that restaurants love to put music on their sites.

Some items vary of course. They let the chefs make the menus somewhat personal. Like for instance, the Crave at the Mall of America has an AWESOME "banana split" w/ little squiggly cookies and where the chef brulees the banana. :cloud9: We went out and ought a brulee torch right away to try it at home.

My husband and I found Winter Park this past January. It reminds me of a Celebration on steroids! Great shopping area(including some of the biggies like Pottery Barn) and nice little restaurants and a nice park. We ate at The Bistro for lunch. What drew us there was that it was too cold to eat outside and they had a nice solarium so it was the best of both worlds. Food was good!.

We actually go to a place called Don Pablos, it is on International Drive closer to the convention center, for Mexican and LOVE IT!!!!. It has been a place we go everything we are in Disney

Hands down for me is Bubbaloo's Bodacious BBQ. It's not far from DTD and is fine Florida style BBQ.

I must be a home town girl because when we go off property, I look for a Denny's. Used to have them here and then they started closing, one by one. I absolutely love their breakfasts!!!

Can you provide us with directions, please?
I have seen this place on the Travel Channel or Food Network but had the impression that it was a bit far from WDW.

Bahamma Breeze-I drive
Margaritaville City walk
Charleys Steak house
Emerils Tchop Tchop at Royal pasific

Chilis is also good for a chain
Blue Zoo is expensive but excelent also altough it is on site i guess

Surprised that nobody has brought this one up....

Maggiano's over by Universal.

Coming from NY, we are bred to believe that the only acceptable Italian food is available in either NY City Metro Area, Chicago, and on some occassions places in Italy. :-)

That being said, Maggianos was one of the better Italian places we have been to when touring the country and we'll make it a point to return.

5818 Conroy Road (cross-street Kirkman Road)
Orlando , FL , United States 32835

It is closer to Universal than Disney and yes it's about a 30 min drive one way depending on traffic.

You can take the interstate but we prefer local roads. We go down Hotel Plaza Blvd. toward the Crossroads and take a left onto 535/Apopoka-Vineland Rd. Go past Sand Lake Rd, another good area for eating and keep going until you get to Conroy Road. At this intersection you will see the Perkins made famous by Tiger Woods, as this area is Windermere. Turn right onto Conroy Rd and the BBQ place is on your right just before you get to Kirkman Rd.

Here are some of our favorites:

Mexican - Chevy's
Steak - Texas De Brazil
Casual - Orlando Alehouse
Italian - Carabbas
Pizza - Uno's

There are more - but thats all I can think of right now...

Steaks - Charley's is in a class by itself, IMHO. Bring money - this is a fine steakhouse, not a diner.

Pizza - when we go for pizza, we're looking for a very casual, quick, decent meal. Pizzaria Uno is close by, quick and good.

Specialty - Columbia in Celebration - one of our favorites anywhere. Spanish-Spanish cuisine from Tampa. Everything on the menu is very good -- the "1905 Salad" is worth the trip even if you don't eat anything else.

New addition to our list as a result of this thread (thank you!) - Bubbaloo's Bodacious BBQ. haven't been there yet, but my mouth is watering.

If they're busy, we'll stop by Perkins and see how the service is...pirate:

Thank you, we've eaten there twice and I could not, for the life of me, remember the name! It's fab!

Bahama Breeze is our favorite. Others we like are the Orlando Ale House (sports bar), Macaroni Grill and Cracker Barrel.
