Favorite Resort at Christmas?

We are looking to do one last trip to Disney with kids 17,14,11 and we’ve done Disney at Halloween the pst 3 times. We want to try Christmas time for our last trip. Our favorite resort is Poly and that’s where we’re leaning but I wanted to see what everyone’s favorite resort is for Christmas time. We would really like to stay somewhere with great decorations and that’s ours you in the Holiday spirit…and from what I’ve read, Poly might not be it. GF, WL and BW seem to have better Xmas Vibe. Thoughts? Thanks!

GF, WL and AKL are all really pretty at Christmas. YC/BC also get really gussied up if the Epcot resorts are your thing.

For moderates, CSR is stunning with a huge tree in the lobby of the Tower.

Keep in mind, you can always resort hop and see all the resorts with all the decorations.

We have done this a couple times, especially with the Monorail resorts and the boat from MK to WL. Can see the Contemporary, Poly, GF and WL in 2-3 hours. Excellent idea and a way to see the decorations.

Boardwalk, Yacht, or Beach up so you can visit all 3 to see Christmas decorations, and are close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

This will give your 17 and 14 year olds some independence, and gets you closer to the 2 theme parks with the most rides that will appeal to teenagers and tweens.

Some Christmases, we walk between all 5 resorts just to see Christmas decorations.

😊
In my opinion - AK has a great tree, but not much else - it just doesn’t feel ‘Christmassy’..Grand Floridian’s lobby is very beautiful but loud and packed with people to look at the gingerbread house…WL has their gorgeous tree, fireplace, decorated railings and bridge, the babbling brook, the Christmas music piped in, etc. etc. that’s just unparalleled at Disney…that’s why we stay at BRV/WL but always make it a priority to visit other resort lobbies.

Love the fireplaces up a couple floors overlooking the lobby. I ended up there right when they decorated a few years ago and a crazy cold spell came in so that afternoon I grabbed a glass of wine, curled up by one of the little fireplaces and just basked in all the Xmasy atmosphere. The craziness was a couple floors down so it was really nice.

Wilderness Lodge! We spent a few days there in Dec and it is so beautiful! We have stayed there the last two years. I keep trying to book something else but as long as we go in Nov or Dec. I will most likely book WL. We did spend some time hopping to other resorts.

I also love GF and don’t mind the crowds others speak of(but we tend to travel to WDW on weekdays). GF is probably my favorite resort normally. But once the decorations go up WL wins out for me. The whole resort just feels like Christmas instead of the lobby. Love the tree, decorations, food options, fireplaces.

Another vote for WL. Getting a DVC reservation to stay there during the Christmas season is hard. Instead, I will book dining at Whispering Canyon, so I can park there, eat dinner, and then lounge in the lobby or Carolwood Railroad Room.

Wilderness Lodge would probably be my top pick. But we were there over this Christmas and it was unavailable. We stayed at Yacht Club and it was beautiful! Decorations were gorgeous and you can go see the gingerbread carousel at Beach Club. We enjoyed it so much and would absolutely stay there over the holidays again. Walking distance to Epcot is amazing!

Thank you all very much! The one thing I did not see anyone mention was Poly so I am going to take a look at WL and see what is available. I’m assuming Boulder Ridge Villas are just as fine. Thanks again!

I like Poly for summer trips, but IMO, it’s not on the same level of “Christmasy” as the others mentioned above. That’s just my opinion, though. Enjoy!
