We are thinking about staying at POP! Its one of the only resorts we haven't Do we have to pay extra for a preferred building?? Can we stay standard and save $$ or is it not worth it?? What is you r favoritre location and why?? Are there anytimes we should avoid staying here ~ Pop Warner , cheerleaders when is that??

I stayed at Pop in Sept. of 08. We didn't pay for preferred and we had NO request. We got a room in the back of the 50's facing the lake. I really liked the location as it was nice and quiet and the walk to the food court/buses was not far at all. We only used the bowling pin pool as it was right near the room and not as crowded as the main pool.

We've stayed there twice. The first time I requested 50s facing the lake but got 70s facing the lake. It was a great location. Lakeview and very quiet but not too far from the food court. It was my favorite room location we've ever had anywhere.
The next time I just requested facing the lake. We were put in the 60s facing the lake but not a very good view. However, we were about 2 doors away from the preferred rooms and it was such a short walk to the elevator, pool and food court. It was really good b/c my mom was with us and was having foot problems so the short walk was helpful for her.

I think it all depends on whether you have a car or not. If you are using all Disney transportation, then I agree that 50's is one of the best Non-Preferred rooms. If you have a vehicle, then I suggest the 80's or 90's for easy access to your vehicle because you can just about park right outside of your room without a bad walk. I also believe that most of the cheerleading and Pop Warner people stay at All-Stars. Pop Warner is in December, not sure when Cheer Leading is, but I think I saw them when I was there in February.

We always request building 1 (1950s). Half of the building is preferred and the other half standard. We always stay on the standard side, I dont see the purpose of paying the extra money when you still have to walk to the middle of the building to get to the elevator anyhow! Building 1 is only a short walk to the main building and bus stop.

Thanks everyone. We don't have a car so thats not a problem. Like most I'd like to be near the main pool and food court

I also stayed at the 50's room facing the lake. AMAZING view of the lake and VERY quiet and serene.

50's, building 3, lake view......very cozy and close to everything! You can even see the fireworks at Epcot from the 3rd floor!

We stayed in the 50's building 2 I believe on the fourth floor facing the lake. TERRIFIC view...saw Epcot fireworks from outside the room.

We are staying at Pop this fall and requesting 80's. Want a change of view and the giant Rubiks Cubes looked cool. Plus we drive so I like the notion of being close to the car.

We've been 3 times to POP- once in the 50s facing the parking lot and twice in the '60s building 5 facing the lake-all non-preferred. The '60s building was so convenient to the main pool(and bar:cool1:), food court and transportation that we will always request it in the future!

We stayed last June in the 80's section. LOVED IT. we stayed where it was a really quick hop over to the buses through a shortcut in the parking lot. Loved the Rubik's cube as my son is a major rubik's geek!

We've stayed in the 50's twice and the 60's once. The 50's wins hands down in my book. Very close to the Classic Hall, buses, etc. Big plus is the Bowling Pin swimming pool is the quietest of the pools. In my experience, the Bowling Pin pool is also the best heated and least crowded of the three pools.

There are really no bad buildings at the POP Century Resort. It was a well thought out resort. Another factor is that while the entire resort is now non-smoking, the 50's buildings have always been non-smoking rooms since opening.

Be sure to talk a stroll around Remembrance Walk while you are there. Well worth it, but hard to explain to a small child.

Last year we requested and got 60's section facing the lake not perfered. I would not pay extra for a room there. Like a pp said the resort is laid out nice. I don't think anywhere has a long walk.

We stayed in building 5 in the 60's section, second floor, facing the lake. PERFECT location. Very close to the main pool and food court but very quiet. We loved it!
I would never pay for a preferred room. A lot of those rooms face the pool (which can be very lively at all hours). With the layout of the resort, a preferred room may save you a 1 or 2 minute walk. Definately not worth it for us.

Last June we stayed in the 70's Big Wheel building in a "Preferred Room". We were on the back side facing a wooded area and a parking lot. Nothing about it seemed to be a preferred location. It was nice and quiet though.

This year, we are not paying the extra $$ for the preferred room and I have requested 70's Building 6 (The Mickey Mouse Telephone Building). I hope for a lake view room.

I have stayed in 50's twice and 60's once, all facing the lake. I like 60's better. We always use the 60's pool and it was not far at all from everything. I am requesting 60's for our July trip. :thumbsup2

Facing the pond is nice because it is quiet and you can see all the fireworks at night.:surfweb:
