Where do you like to eat at HHI? Are the restaurants at the resort any good, or is it better to go elsewhere?

Scott's Fish Market at Shelter Cove is a favorite of mine.

If you like good pizzerias, try Giuseppe's just up the road at the Shelter Cove shopping center. Giuseppe's is located behind Fuddruckers next to TJ Maxx.

Warning: It's a Steelers / Pirates / Penguins theme, so if you hate the 'Burgh, you may want to pass. Of course, I felt right at (or near) home!

Also, they offer a 10% DVC member discount.

We love Old Oyster House, Scott's fish Market(shelter cove),Frankie Bones(fun rat pack scene with wonderful food-lobster mac & cheese!), King Fisher at shelter cove is good for seafood;Hilton Head Diner(right next to resort) 24 breakfast and diner fare;Guiesseppis good pizza and take-out stuff..When you get to the island you will get a very large promo paper with ALL the resort options(its huge), also the resort will give you a list of places that you can get a discount. Ooops, forgot that we tried Vasillis last time and it was good mediterranean(mostly greek) food.

I liked a place called Kenny B's - it is cajun and really good.

The Sea Shack. The best low country food. no frills on paper plates. get there early. before 5:00, or you will wait!!!

Also, go to Hilton Head Ice Cream store. Best ice cream on the the island. Free toppings, as much as you want.

Harold's Diner [on 278 next to the Exxon station] Great food and you probably get a local flavor [many locals visit]. :cool1: :yay:

Where exactly is the Hilton Head Ice Cream Store? I'm an ice cream fanatic. We love Signe's for both breakfast and lunch. We also enjoy British Open Pub in Wexford Village and Salty Dog Cafe in Sea Pines. Someday we'll get totry the Sea Shack.

Another vote for Scott's and Frankie Bones. Two we really liked this trip were Redfish and Tapas. The only meal we've ever really disliked was at Kingfisher.

Were there kids at Tapas? I was thinking of doing this one on the night the kids are out with Kids Night Out- LOVE:love: to try everything, it sounds like it's right up my alley!!

Thanks!

Ellen,

Our kids are 15 and 21 and really enjoyed Tapas. There were only 2 other tables being served when we were there and they didn't have kids. It did not look like a kid UNFRIENDLY place though. Best service ever and a really different dining experience. I tried alligator (surprisingly good) duck in some kind of sauce (did not like but DS loved) best salmon I've ever had and 5-6 other things. If you like the idea of trying many different items instead of your usual plated entrees and sides you will truly enjoy this.

Connears,

Were you there this June? We were talking to the nicest Red Sox fans (didn't hold that against them) at the beach house on our June 15-20 trip this year.

We had a very good meal at Kingfisher last time we were there, we like Crazy Crab (have eaten at both locations), the Italian restaurant in Shelter Cove was excellent (the name evades me right now), and we also like the Longhorn Steakhouse. We found Giusseppe's to border on inedible, so don't count us among the legions who recommend the place. Of course, it could be because we know what "real" pizza should taste like, LOL.

I LOVE to try EVERYTHING- so I know I'm going to love this place! I think my kids would be fine here, not so sure about our nephews (2 of them are younger). So I think we will do it on a night when we've hired a sitter/ kids night out. Also have Sea Shack on my list, I figure we can all go there- do they do take out, though? Sometimes that works best-

Thanks,:flower3:

It wasn't us..we stayed up north this summer(went to VT-Lake Champlain on starwood points), but we have been for the last 3 summers. If you done there next June and you meet a couple of RedSox fans......ha! Or at OKW 12/28/08-1/02/09 for our New Years trip to WDW.

San Miguel's and Scott's Fish Market. San Miguel's I especially enjoy, because it's such a scenic stroll around the marina bordering DVC. Also, it's easy on the wallet too!

I'm going off island tomorrow night (Moss Creek Village) to eat at Claude and Uli's. The used to own and run the La Normadie restaurant on-island, but sold it. Was so happy to see that they opened a new place. I LOVED eating there before....truly European, with chef Claude cooking in the kitchen and Uli the hostess out front. Great service, wonderful food. Anyway, I'll post a review when possible, but hope it's all still just as wonderful. If so, it will be worth the drive!! :)

Also need to check out (highly recommended by a local friend today): the new Truffles Restaurant--called Truffles Grill---located on Pope Ave. Totally different atmosphere and menu than the one in Sea Pines.
