Favorite Phrase

I always find myself saying "Don't make a day of it" to my DH & DD about everything. Because they can be impossibly slow.

My father-in-law always says " 'bout that time". It's an all-purpose phrase, really, he inserts it arbitrarily into sentences, and sometimes just throws out an "about that time" to hang in the air all by itself. It's fun to play "Count The 'Bout that Times" when he visits.

My latest favorite phrase is "I'm not feeling it." As in "What do you think of these drapes? "I don't think so, I'm just not feeling it"

Whenever the kids complain about a routine task in life that they perceive to be difficult, my usual response (which really gets under their skin) is "wear a helmet!".

Example: Dad, we have a history exam tomorrow and the teacher said it's going to be very tough....."wear a helmet!!".

This one made me scream with laughter. I will be using it from now on.

When the kids were younger and they would question everything we said
with, "WHY???", my DH got exasperated one day and got a piece of paper,
wrote the Letter "Y" on it and started holding it up whenever they would
say it. Then we all just started yelling, "THE LETTER "Y"!" I haven't thought
about that in a long time. :goodvibes

Thanks to the DIS, I have been using this one:

Looks like she took a ride on the drama llama :)

Current faves:

"That is just wrong on so many levels"
"Oh yeah, THAT electric fence isn't plugged in this time!"
"Sorry, my crystal ball is in the cleaners!"
When I leave work early I always say that I "released myself on my own recognizance."

And my Cajun boss always says (in French) "Eat your tomatoes and scratch!"
The story is that a woman went to the doctor and said that every time she ate tomatoes, she would break out in an itchy rash. The doctor said, "Then don't eat tomatoes!" and she said, "but I like tomatoes!" So the doctor said to her, "then eat your tomatoes and scratch!!" Funny how it applies to so many situations around here.

My favorite phrase of all time is:

"We'll see". It doesn't necessarily mean yes (so they can't say later "you promised"), and it doesn't necessarily mean no (so there is still some hope). No phrase ever coined works better for dealing with kids. :thumbsup2

My phrases tend to be PG lately. :goodvibes

"Ooopsy Daisy" is said about 50 times a day in my house, by me & my kids.

"Whatever" probably comes out of my mouth during most discussions with my husband.

"I love you lots of" my 3 year old came up with & we all use now.

My everyday one that I use is...What's up with that!:confused3 ...I use it so much tht I think it drives "Me" crazy...no one in my family has complained :upsidedow

You will find it on my siggy...."Don't let weeds grow around your dreams"!....

Also the one right below this....There will be no crises this week....my schedual is full!

Popular phrases:

"Indeed"

"Outstanding!"

In response to "Where's my ____?" "If it were up your butt, you'd know."

I'm kind of on a "Oh SNAP!!!!" and "Sweet Niblets!!!" kick...
My kids laugh because I say it when I'm frustrated but they find it rather funny... DH just shakes his head:rotfl:

No Way!!!!

And my other favorites especially with a house full of school age daycare kids
"Too Bad, so Sad"

I feel like Im always saying (especially to my kids)
"Of course you are"
"Of course you do"
"Of course it is" etc, etc.

ok, it may be a little sarcastic and passive aggressive, but I say it in the nicest tone of voice. ;)

Of course I do! :rolleyes1

Cool! Yeah, it is rare to meet another Alisa. I like my name, I just hate how everyone says it wrong. :goodvibes

I feel the same way. I love my name and that it is not that common but I get every name that is even remotely close. When I was younger I corrected people all the time but now I pretty much answer to anything:p

Same here! I became so sick of correcting people that I just answer to anything that sounds similar. ;)

Too bad so sad. I say it all the time. My new phrase for the week (these change often) is from Whitney Houston- "Oh He!! to the no!":p

How about the other Whitney quote? "kiss my ***!" It's hysterical to hear it! :))Whitney's a nut & Bobby too! I have lots of quotes! Por favor mantagense alejado de las puertas! Ladies 1st! Plus the main one that I borrowed from my bff Holly "pink must be worn everyday!" plus many others!
