Favorite NON-STICKY Sunscreen?

:confused3 I couldn't believe it as I was reading through this thread because we bought the Coppertone Continuous Spray and find it to be HORRIBLY sticky. YUCK! First time we tried it was on my DS15 for band camp last week. I didn't realize you just spray it on and go. I sprayed it on my hands and then rubbed it on him. BIG mistake. I washed my hands some 20 times before the sticky feeling went away. And he HATED it. He doesn't like stickiness at all and this just sent him over the edge. Used it for the whole week as that's all we had, and the can was starting to feel pretty light. I bought him some Walgreen's sunscreen for faces because the Continuous Spray was especially disgusting on the face. I can't even imagine how that would block pores!

Now bought some Coppertone Oil-Free sunblock lotion and it is MUCH better. Not sticky, not greasy and wonderful for the face, too. Feels SOOOOO much better. :goodvibes

Mine was specifically the Coppertone SPORT continuous spray in the BLUE bottle. I didn't want any confusion.

Monica-thanks for the tip on Walgreens. I'll definitely keep that in mind when I start on the next round of Sunscreen Trials.

Three Angels - I was surprised by everyone's postive comments. We tried the C Sport a few weeks ago when it was 95 degrees out and my son was miserable. He said he never wanted me to use that kind again. We've had the C Sport lotion and used it when it's not quite so hot and it's ok, but he and DD hated it on the 95 degree days. I knew it didn't scrub off easliy, either, because they still smelled like the sunscreen the next day after bathing! I did read another thread (not sure where I saw it) about a lady's husband who had trouble cooling down when wearing the C Sport sunscreen. She thought it was b/c it clogged his pores and he couldn't cool down. That was only 1 isolated case. I guess you have to just see what works best for your family (at least that's what I'm gonna do). That post, along with what my kids said when they wore it has my gut telling me to find something different.

I found Bullfrog at Target today, but it was in a grey bottle (Said 36 spf on it). There was a pump spray bottle next to it but it said something about being for kids?

OK Neutrogena lovers - do you like the lotion or the continuous spray? Do they both have the same 'dry' feeling after applying?

I love neutrogena continuous spray. I saw a report earlier in the year stating that the helioplex in some of the neutrogena products is as close to the canadian meroxyl (sp) or parisol that we can get here in the US. It lasts a lot longer and does something with the reflection of the UVA and UVB rays. Helioplex will be written on the middle of the can but not all of them have helioplex so make sure you look for it if you chose to try it. No the neutrogena continuous spray is not sticky or greasy at all in my opinion.

Coppertone Sport 45spf in the blue tube! I use this for the whole family. This trip I even used the Coppertone Sport Face stick for the kids. It is a little tube (like a small deoderant stick). No one complained of any stickiness and it absorbs quickly!

We use Coppertone Sport also, we LOVE that it kinda soaks into your skin and is not sticky to the touch!

We did start using oil-free Coppertone FACES (or something like that) for our face because my son started breaking out a bit.

Hey good news. I just watched world news tonight and the FDA approved Meroxyl to be used in sunscreens in the US today. They explained how the Meroxyl makes it last a lot longer than the other sunscreens sold in the USA so if you forget to or don't like to reapply your sunscreen this should solve that problem. They said Loreal should be the first to market it. They also explained how the hydroplex is the closest to it in the current producst available. Hydroplex can be found in some neutrogena and aveeno sunscreens.

I was doing a search on sunscreens before I posted my question, and came across this thread (albeit a little old!) I'm sure everyone still likes the same sunscreen, right? But has anyone had problems with the Coppertone Sport Continuous Spray being too sticky? I just bought it and tried it on a 90 degree day and we were miserable (only spraying our necks and arms). That stuff is like cement, and I'm afraid after a few days at the parks in August we'll feel disgusting and we may be so hot from not sweating enough 'cause the sunscreen is so heavy it's blocking pores.

I'm thinking I may try Neutrogena, but I hate to spend the money b/c so many have said it's not sticky or greasy and find that it is, like the Coppertone problems we have. Maybe I'll try water babies....

Hi! It's the original poster again! I had that same problem with the Coppertone Sport spray!(I thought it was just me - so many other people seem to like it!) I had to scrub and scrub with a soapy washcloth to get it off. Hated the texture.

I just tried the Neutrogena spray and it was great! Had a nice "feel" to it and didn't feel like you had sunscreen on at all. It works really well, too! I alternate between that and the Neutrogena Dry Touch sunblock - it blends right in and doesn't feel sticky, either.

Thanks for posting ZoZo!! I'm glad to hear I'm not alone with CS. And it was great to hear you had the issue and found Neutrogena to be good. Now I'm definitely going to buy it.

I'll save the CS for the times we go swimming all day or something. I'll let my mom take it to the Shore, too, to use when they're in the ocean all day.

Happy to help, Abeyst! I think you'll really like the Neutrogena product. Have a great trip!

I have a Coppertone stick for the face in a pale green container that I just love! I wish they made it for the body, but it's a great non-sticky sunscreen you can apply directly to the face without any fear that sweat will cause it to seep into your eyes and sting.

Also, Coppertone makes an oil-free lotion that works beautifully, too. Apply it in the morning like a lotion and you're set.

That would have been me. It was pretty scary, too! Took us a while to figure out that he wasn't sweating at all! Once he figured it out, he said no more, and used our son's water babies. No more heat problems! And no mor scrubbing skin raw to try to get it off! Now he really isn't even willing to try any other type of spray. I've seen a couple recently that specify that it won't block your pores, but he doesn't want to take chances. So, for now, we use the Banana Boat for kids (I see no point in buying more then one kind if it works for all of us). Have both 30 and 50. DS likes the 50 because it is "tear free" and doesn't burn his eyes if he accidently gets some in them. Would love to come up with something quicker and less messy to apply. But it isn't sticky or greasy, at least to us. Just have to wash my hands after putting it on. But that is better than the alternative of burning!

This may be a stupid question but I've never heard anyone complain about it but me.

I've been using Coppertone Sport spray for my family (just general - regular summer swimming/etc) but I agree - I don't like it. I find it sticky and greasy. But I like the spray because I don't have to get it all over my hands. Why is that an issue? Every sunscreen I've tried TAKES OFF MY NAIL POLISH!!!?!?! It doesn't take it off, but it makes it dull and tacky (sticky) - and then it gets little lines in it. Is there a sunscreen that doesn't desolve the finish on nail polish? It just kills me to get a manicure with freshly painted nails on Friday and then to have the finish get ruined and my nails to look horrible because I spread sunscreen all over the kids the next day. Of course, I still give them sunscreen but I'm hoping to find one that doesn't ruin my manicure in a matter of minutes.

Couldn't give any feedback on coppertone but use the Banana Boat continuous spray weekly and have found it to be very convenient and effective. My kids both have very sensitive skin and do not do well in the sun.
Good Luck and Best "Wishes" :thumbsup2

My family uses the Coppertone sports trigger spray SPF 30 (refuse to do aerosols), and although it works great for keeping the sun out, it leaves me feeling greasy and I can feel the heat build up somethign awful. It's fine for use around the pool, but for walking Disney we need something better.

In the past I've used lotions that keep you cool (allow presperation?) when you touch the skin and feel heat you know it's time to re-apply. I can't for the life of me remember what they were.

Went to Wal-Mart yesterday and headed into the sunscreen isle... OMG... what ever happened to the days you could walk up, choose your SPF and go? I was so confused (and bowled over by the prices) I left empty-handed.

I tried the Banana Boat continuous spray in WDW and found it to be effective. It dried rather quickly and I don't remember feeling sticky. I plan to buy another can for a day at the beach because I prefer the ease of the spray over the lotion.

The three of us sprayed our bare arms and legs each morning and the can lasted about 4 or 5 days.

Waterbabies is the best...

It is not only non-sticky, but has a nice, fresh scent. :sunny:
