Favorite NON-STICKY Sunscreen?

I like Ocean Potion Lotion Sport sph 30. It is hard to find but normally Wal-Mart has it. We bought a bottle a few weeks ago in Cocoa, FL for our cruise. Here in NC they had sold out. Not greasy at all and goes on easily!

I would recommend Ocean Potion as well... Any it smells like a creamcicle?

Unfortunately only found it in CA, FL and HI

I am very fair skinned, and I swear by my Banana Boat pump spray. Not sticky or greasy, and I rub it in a bit to be sure Im covered. Never fails (as long as I remember to re-apply at lunch time). To get my face I just spray my fingers and rub in... Magic:banana:

Okay, I know I'm going to sound like the poor relation from the other side of the tracks, but I really like No-Ad 30SPF, can't stand Coppertone, couldn't afford Bullfrog because of how much I use, & think Banana Boat is nothing more than hand lotion. I have been known to get some sort of sun poisoning between 7 & 7:15 a.m. in the shade, so believe me when I say I know sunscreens & have experimented. I also like Solar Sense cream & stick (also relatively inexpensive.) And, of course, need I say wear a hat, polarized sunglasses, some sort of sleeve -- & if the sun is a real problem, you might try one of the clothing items that are treated.

Anyway, as you can see, we all have different opinions, so keep experimenting!!

Have a great time.

I am sun sensitve (get an itchy rash when exposed to sun) and I've tried everything... SO far my faves at the Coppertone Ultra Sheer, and Vichy SPF 60 - very expensive, but worth every penny

hey ottawa-newbie -- where do you get the vichy? it sounds like something i'd like A LOT. it probably contains that wonderful ingredient (is it meroxyl?) that they sell in canada but not the u.s. (way to go FDA -- let's keep that skin cancer level high!) my next trip to canada is going to see me shopping for a lot of things i can get there but not in the u.s. :cool1: thx!

I wasn't aware that meroyxl wasn't available in the US :confused3

Yes it does have meroxyl and it's available at drug stores and departments stores... quite expensive stuff, but I love it. You can order it online too, but i'm not sure if they ship to the US :goodvibes

I love the Coppertone Sport pump spray. I first tried it on my DCL cruise last fall. It is so fast to put on and I like the smell (it reminds me of summer and vacations). I used to not worry about sunscreen when gardening or other outside activities, but since the spray is so fast, I use it all the time. I especially like it because I used to always burn the part in my hair and it sprays there very well.

If I'm going to be in the sun a lot, I often use a lotion for my face, but the spray is enough for arms & legs.

Yeah, it's been shown to be the most effective sunscreen, but the US laws are absurdly strict because Americans have a very low risk tolerance - so it takes YEARS to get a new product appoved. They want perfection in all things at all times! lol - serves us very well in some ways, but I have sensitive skin & I am willing to say, "Hey, the Canadians have an outstanding certification system & I'm willing to trust them on this one."

couldn't afford Bullfrog because of how much I use

Bullfrog gel is the ticket, after it's dry you don't know it's there. I am very fair and can only tolerate a max of about 2-3 hours in the sun in Florida.... but my sister was even worse, burning after about 30min in Florida sun. I got her Bullfrog and the problem was solved... we could swim at Thphoon Lagoon for hours without re-applying or burning.... except when we occasionally missed a spot. :)

Bullfrog is now availabe through Internet drugstores, and I saw it once at a Walmart this past summer. It is very hard to find in a store.

You are so lucky you can use Bullfrog. It makes my face sting so badly! I like the Neutragena for sensitive skin for my face. Everything else is the Coppertone continuous spray...

Another Bullfrog afficionado here. The spray gel keeps this pasty skinned Celtic girl from burning to a crisp.

I like Blue Lizard too, but it's a lot heavier feeling.

Coppertone Sport 45spf in the blue tube! I use this for the whole family. This trip I even used the Coppertone Sport Face stick for the kids. It is a little tube (like a small deoderant stick). No one complained of any stickiness and it absorbs quickly!

My favorite sunscreen is Coppertones Spectra 3 spf 50. This is the greatest stuff invented. I am very fair skinned and burn very easily. When I use this I have never gotten burnt. Even in the strong caribbean sun. It isn't sticky and I have only had to apply it once. My mom swears by it too. I really recommend it.

Buy the one in the spray bottle. Even if you have to buy the baby sunblock (SPF 50). It's great. goes on like lotion and WORKS!

Cost alot and worth every penny. My famly spends the summer on the boat and EVERYONE wants bullfrog. Love that gel.... :cool1: :)

I was doing a search on sunscreens before I posted my question, and came across this thread (albeit a little old!) I'm sure everyone still likes the same sunscreen, right? But has anyone had problems with the Coppertone Sport Continuous Spray being too sticky? I just bought it and tried it on a 90 degree day and we were miserable (only spraying our necks and arms). That stuff is like cement, and I'm afraid after a few days at the parks in August we'll feel disgusting and we may be so hot from not sweating enough 'cause the sunscreen is so heavy it's blocking pores.

I'm thinking I may try Neutrogena, but I hate to spend the money b/c so many have said it's not sticky or greasy and find that it is, like the Coppertone problems we have. Maybe I'll try water babies....

Yuk. I just bought the Continuous Spray for our upcoming vacation and was so happy to see the positive feedback. Cement? That's not good....

I wanted to ask if anyone has any idea how many applications they get out of a container of continuous spray?

Has anyone else had the "cement" feeling? We bought this for our upcoming trip and have only spot tested it on everyone for possible reactions.

And how far will one bottle go with a family of 4 for 8 days? Will I need more than one?

thanks for everyone's help! I will have to try it on for a whole day now...

I went through several different brands and types of sunscreen before I settled on the Neutrogena. One try of the drytouch and I was hooked. I put it on and forget about it, even on my very sensitive face.
Buy some at Walgreens. They will let you take it back if you try it and don't like it. Just rub a little on the back of your hand and see what you think. :thumbsup2
