Hi. I have never stayed at a moderate and I booked the POFQ on Thursday but I am curious to know if I should have done CS instead? It was only 100 or so less for the entire stay, so nothing really different. But I go back and forth..so I thought I would ask all of you!! :teacher: Which Moderate is your favorite and why?? Also, what about transportation in the Moderate resorts? We have never been to WDW before, so I am going off posts here and travel books. THanks!! And I am looking forward to hearing all your opinions!! popcorn::

You are going to get a million different answers to your question. I will tell you I love POR and hate CBR, and the next person will come along and tell you the exact opposite.

You will also get multiple answers to the bus question. I have never had a bit of trouble with the bus service at POR, but people have commented they have waited up to a hour for a bus.

My suggestion is to go to each of the official threads and check them out.

That being said, you cannot go wrong with POFQ for a first trip. It is a small compact resort, close to everything and you don't have a complicated navigation around a resort for a first timer. They have one bus stop and, although at busy times, they share with POR, POFQ is always the first stop.

They have wonderful amentities including, the use of the sister resort, POR and the water taxi access to DTD and the use of the bus hub at the DTD Marketplace to get from a resort, back to POFQ is good. Both food courts are nice; POR is one of the best on property.

I would definately stay put for a first trip.

THank you. That makes me feel better. I feel like a lot of the reviews online are mixed for all of them. Makes it hard to sort out!! Thank you for your help!

What's bad is that people don't hesitate to post something when they have a bad experience, where few people (except the diehards on the various official threads) will post a great experience.

That is why you get such mixed reviews. Also, people see vacations at Disney differently. Some people seem to think that perfection is the only acceptable level and one thing goes wrong and their entire trip is ruined. It is sad, but true.

Definately go onto the POFQ thread and also check Andre's website; they are well maintained, and I am sure you will be hooked on your choice.

We stayed at POFQ in November. Prior to that I have stayed at CSR and CBR. I LOVED POFQ! I have no desire to stay at another moderate resort again. I would like to try some of the other deluxes but as far as a moderate, POFQ all the way. It was so nice and peaceful. The amenities were great. It was easy to navigate and I loved the boat to DTD. Never had a problem with the buses.

We've stayed at POFQ multiple times and we absolutely love it! We're going back this September and will be staying there once again, we love the compact nature and relaxed vibe of this resort. I also wouldn't hesitate to stay at Riverside, and I believe they have the edge when it comes to the food court, although we've always been satisfied with the offerings at FQ. The table service restaurant at Riverside (Boatwright's) is a hidden gem, we've enjoyed many delicious dinners there and it's an easy and picturesque walk along the river from FQ. I'm sure the other moderates have much to offer, along with their own pluses and negatives, but we've never been able to pull ourselves away from PO to try them ! I think you made a great choice! :thumbsup2

I've only stayed at POFQ and CBR, so I can't give you a comparison directly to CS.

I will say that I loved POFQ and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Its a smaller resort and easy to find your way around. Due to its smaller size, there isn't as much walking involved to get to/from bus stops, food court, the pool, etc. I also loved the fact that you could take a boat to downtown disney, which we took advantage of several times on our trip. Its a very nice ride. Also, I find walking or sitting by the river is very relaxing. The only downside that I found is that the pool area to me was a little small.

Honestly, I don't think that you can go wrong with either choice.

Thank you!! This is great. I feel much better now about my choice! So happy to hear some good reviews. I probably get a little too stuck on the negative and I saw someone's post on here about urine smelling bathrooms and I kind of freaked out a bit! Glad that is just one person's view and others have stayed there and love it. I will say the pool looks like fun and I thought my kids would really like the slide. I am less worried now and more excited for our trip in August!! Thank you!!!

I wouldn't let one post like that bother you.

This helps alot for me also. Haven't been back to WDW for almost 7 years, and thought about booking this for September.

I have stayed at all the moderates and I like each of them for different reasons. If I had to rate them I would put POFQ at the top because of the queen beds, 2 great feature pools, DTD boat (get on at riverside if you are going at dinner time), and I just love the vibe here. CS is second because of the queen beds, the pepper market, and the pool can't be beat. POR is just below CS because of the double beds (hey, when you have 4 people in a room bed size matters!), and CB is at the bottom mostly because of how spread out it is, I do love the beachy theme there and really like their pool too.

Our vote would be for either Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter over the other moderates. The thing that tips the scale in favour of these two resorts for us is the boat to Downtown Disney. BUT, with that being said, no matter where you book you will love it, especially if you have never been to Disney before. I remember the first time we went, we couldn't believe how awesome Disney was, from the cast members, transportation system, food courts, etc. And guess what, the next time we went, different hotel, same experience.

We look at the different choice of resorts, as a new experience for our vacation each time.

Don't worry, whichever one you end us choosing, you will love it!

When the refurb is completed at POR this summer, they will also have queen beds as well.

This question comes up so frequently. It all depends on what you want out of the resort, how old kids are, do u need to have a TS restaurant or is CS just ok for u.
POFQ. is nice and small easy to get around, but this mod has no restaurant. Plus the pool although nice tends to be a little on the youngef kids side. Now POR whi h is the sister resort has the queens size beds too way bettef pool w/ slide nice ts restaurant. Real nk e grounds. I like this place a lot but a really wasnt happy with the buses here. That the only negative. My vote definitely goes to CSR. It has everything you could want. Close to perfect as can be. I knkw a lot of people said u don't get the same feel because its a convention resort but honestly we never felt that. Good luck n have a great time.
