Favorite Moderate Resort?

Happy December!

I recently booked a trip for December 2012 at the Contemporary. I am now having second thoughts because it will likely be a solo trip for me, and frankly, I don't want to spend that much.

I have never stayed at any of the moderate resorts, but I would like to know what your favorite moderate resort is and why? Which would you suggest for me? :surfweb:

Our favorite moderate is POFQ with POR at a very close second. POFQ is the smallest of all the moderates so it doesn't take you long to get to the main building or boat dock even if you are in a farther out building. We also love the fact that there is one bus stop compared to multiple stops at the other moderates. And with that said, if POFQ is sharing busses with POR, they are the first to get on and first to get off which is always a plus for me. Then of course there is a very nice path that leads to POR, which you can use their amenities because they are sister resorts. Lastly, we love the ferry that takes you to DTD and back (you can also take the ferry to POR if you wish too), it is such a nice and relaxing ride plus you can see the Treehouse Villas along the way. We do like POR a lot, we think it is a gorgeous resort but it is much bigger than POFQ, that is the only difference for us. Hope this helps.

That's weird, how did my post become the first post BEFORE the OP's post :confused3. Crazy.

If money isn't a concern I would stay with the CR without question. If it wasn't a solo trip I might rethink my position. Having just returned from a solo trip I found that the most difficult part was waiting in line by yourself. Staying at POFQ will add bus waiting time as well as additional time in transport. Staying at CR allows you to skip back and forth from MK and easier access to the other parks.

ha, no idea. So weird. Maybe because I only have 10 posts?:upsidedow

Its a problem with the DIS. Its happened a few times on and off over the last month or so. Might have something to do with the new servers referenced on the boards.

POR for us too! We love it there and will be heading back for our 5th time in 8 days!

I guess it really depends on your personality and your vacation style so to speak. Myself, I am all about CBR. I love the grounds, its very tropical and beautiful. I find it a very laid back, relaxing atmosphere. Being from Ohio I have a huge love of beaches and palm trees....probably because we really don't have a lot of that here. We have beaches, but they are not anything like Florida beaches lol. So give me a lot of palm trees and a tropical feel and I am a happy girl :rotfl:! I find it a nice place to retreat to after a long busy day among the hustle and bustle of the parks. I would look into it and see what you think :thumbsup2.

I second that. Also the food court and lounge are great. Especially the lounge entertainment. We miss the pecan pancake breakfasts though at the TS (serves only dinner now)[/QUOTE said:
pecan pancakes. are. my. favorite! I get them at Cracker Barrel. I am thinking about maybe doing one of the royal rooms because I really enjoy fiber optics, but I a little concerned about POR due to the theming (I am not an outdoorsy person) and location (but I guess you get that at all the mods).

POR is our favorite. We have stayed in the mansions and love the view, the meandering river and everything about it. We are headed back to POR at the end of March.

We've stayed at all moderates except POR. Our fave is Coronado Springs. It's a beautiful resort with a very nice pool area and a nice food court. Some have called it a deluxe lite-I agree.

We have only stayed at one -- the Coronado, and we've stayed there nine times. We love everything about it--the very comfy queen beds, the great main pool, the food offerings, the theme of the resort, the friendly staff and I enjoy that I can get a massage. We have visited all of the other moderates and walked each of them entirely, eaten at their food courts, etc. If the Coronado were not available, the only other moderate we would choose is POR-Riverside -- thhey ahve the best food court of all the moderates.

Our fav mod. is POR- mansion section. The grounds are beautiful. Boat to DTD, fun evening entertainment in the lounge. Bob Jackson puts on a great show. Magnolia Terrace and Acadian House are our fav locations.

I don't understand what staying at POR & not outdoorsy has to do with one another  You don't enjoy beautiful scenery? Or dislike walking outside? If you want a resort where it's all one building like CR, what about WL? It's cheaper then CR, but everything is under 1 roof. And has a boat to MK. It also has a resort boat that loops around from WL to CR & FW.

Have fun choosing your resort.

2 stays at POR
2 stays at CBR
1 stay at Coronado
1 at POFQ

By far our fave is POR

POR, of course. Mansion section. Alligator Bayou section is more "outdoorsy", and honestly not the section that has ever appealed to us. The mansion side is just very well landscaped... I did POR by myself with 2 small kids, and security was never an issue. All of our trips since have been as a family or couple, but I never worry about coming or going to the room solo. January can't get here fast enough...and we're back to POR!

We've stayed at CBR once, POFQ once, and POR three times. Never stayed at CSR but have visited there.

My vote would go to either POR or POFQ. Both beautiful resorts.
FQ is quieter and more compact. It has the better bus service.

POR has the quiet pools and a bit better food court.

Boat to DD is great from both places.

We are returning in February, this time for a split stay... BC/POFQ.

Really, you can't go wrong with any of the moderates. All of them are very good value for the money spent.

Have a great trip!
