What is your favorite menu item at the Blue Bayou for dinner??

Do you have your own meal or spilt an entree??

My favorite is the Monte Cristo sandwich. It's very filling so splitting wouldn't be a bad idea.

I know this is not a full meal, but I love their soup !!! You can get it at Orleans Cafe too though.

I thought their salad was the best part of my meal.

I love the Tesoro Island Chicken :thumbsup2
And I definitely recommend splitting! I've never been able to finish my meal, and thus have never had the chance to have one of those delicious looking desserts! I found out from this site that when you split, they do it in the kitchen and are generous with portion size, you still each get to order your own sides, and you still get to choose gumbo or salad (definitely gumbo! :cloud9: ). It's $4 to split, but thats still much cheaper than ordering a whole meal that won't be eaten.

I hate to admit it, but I love that Monte Cristo. Its a deep fat fried fest. Dh and I almost always split. I ate my own once and had to return to the hotel for an afternoon of sleep and Pepcid! I also enjoy their house salad. I never have one time had dessert. The Monte Cristo is sort of dessert in and of itself! Which is a shame, that Flying Dutchmen thing looks wonderful.

They have very good gumbo there.:thumbsup2 It's not as good as the gumbo at the Jazz Kitchen, but the gumbo at the Blue Bayou scored a solid second place with me. (Third place gumbo goes to the House of Blues.:goodvibes )

The Monte Cristo is also quite good, but it is very big and filling, and definitely something to split. I'm sure poor Amy's tummy can attest to that.;)

My favorite meal there was from a few years ago: Cajun Tri-Tip. I dont think they offer that anymore, but it was oh so yummy!!

We love the pork chops and carmelized apples with mashed potatoes.

We split it and they put good sized portions on both plates, plenty of food and keeps the costs down.

If you ask they will put a real mint leaf in your iced tea, you have to ask for it as they will just put a lemon in there. Unique, my lady loves it.

I'd have to say the wedge salad.. when i saw pictures i wasn't impressed but the dressing was so stinkin' good!! I get cravins for it all the time!!! And of course the vanilla creme brulee (and I don't normally like creme brulee!)

OOO !!! I feel the same way about the wedge salad. It was SOO delicious; and i LOVE a good wedge salad.

My very favorite thing there is the creme brulee! Oh, but I guess if you don't mean dessert... I'd have to say either the Monte Cristo or Prime Rib.

Several years ago they had a wonderful seafood platter. I wish they would bring that one back!

oh- and no meal is complete without the cookie boat!!!

Their vanilla ice cream is very good. They gave it to DS for free when we ate there on his birthday. :goodvibes

I also like the wedge salad, but we get it without the sausage.

As for food-food, since we're vegetarian we only get (and SHARE) the portabello dish, but I don't like it. Hubby does, though.

We had lunch at BB recently. We all loved the gumbo - is the same gumbo served at the counter-service place in NOS? I also loved my non-alcoholic mint julep - refreshing and different! The entrees (short ribs and prime rib) were fine but not worth their price. Meat was good but I did not care for the potatoes that everyone seems to rave about. Veggies were a bit off in their taste too. We did not try dessert.

Love, Love, Love the Short Ribs!! :goodvibes

the Ribs were Gross. period!

it was swimming in BBQ sauce, it looked like it came off a moose it was so tough that I could have sunk one of the Pirates of the carribean ride boats.pirate:
