I have so many happy memories of our 5/26/01 Magic-al cruise. Today, my favorite is of being on Deck 4 very very early in the morning looking over the rail at the beautiful blue water, seeing a sailboat a distance away and then sitting in those comfy blue lounge chairs with jimmy buffett playing on my discman, a great book in hand, and wonderful coffee in my cup! Oh, to be there now! (can you tell that at the moment I want peace and quiet and cool breezes and great music and coffee?! ;)

What is your favorite memory?

My husband asked me what I wanted for a suvineer - I said one of those chairs on DECK 4!! They are awsome! I NEVER NAP! But we fell fast asleep around 2 pm, one day on the cruise, while my 2 year old daughter napped in her stroller! AWSOME!

This question is so tough to answer! This thread could get huge!

I have so many, but here's 2 favorites:

1. Sitting out on the verandah early in the morning, the quiet slosh of the waves against the ship, the sun shining off the water, and a hot cup of coffee in my hand as I watch the world go by.

2. Take the above scenario, exchange the early morning for late evening, the sun is setting, and the hot coffee is now a cold beer!! ;)

Can you tell I enjoyed the verandah? I am really looking forward to our next cruise, where we have not just a verandah but a private deck! (Cat 3, #8102) :)

There are so many more, I could go on all day. I look forward to following this thread!

Sitting on the veranda at 2:00 a.m., the morning of my daughter's 11th birthday, and her saying to me, "Mom, I haven't been so happy in such a long time, thank you!"

To explain, we were both up in the middle of the night because the motion of the ship made the closet door slide shut, which woke the two of us up. We went and sat on the veranda, watching the lights in the distance, trying to figure out what they were, wishing we had binoculars, and looking at the stars as we listened to the sounds of the ship on the ocean. I was thrilled to be sitting with my daughter, just the two of us, no interruptions.

Prior to the cruise, my daughter was going through a very hard time in her life, having started at a new school the year before and just not fitting in, which then progressed to her being tormented by some of the other kids. It became so bad that she started seeing a psychologist when I saw a note she had written talking about how she wanted to kill herself. Warning bells went off, and I wanted to give her something fun to look forward to in life. She loved Disney the year before (my kids' first visit!), and she had been asking to go on the cruise since she saw it in the Disney planning video. Well, I decided that we would go on the 4-day that fell on her birthday (just like her mother, vacations are what she looks forward to ;)).

I knew my daughter, with the help of the psychologist, was getting better, but when she told me, at 2:00 a.m., that she had not been so happy in such a long time, well, I knew the money we spent was worth it. I had my happy, smiley daughter back, and she hasn't been depressed since last September (I bet all that attention from Adrian and Zoltan, our servers, didn't hurt, either! :)).

That was my favorite moment. And don't tell, but I am surprising my girls with a Dec. Western Cruise!

By far it has to be the look on my older daughter's face as she jumped into the water to swim with the Dolphins on her 12th birthday. I will remember that forever. We did the Dolphin Swim (not the encounter) in Nassau on her birthday and she will always remember that.

For myself, sitting on the veranda early in the morning with my coffee watching the sun rise. It was just beautiful.

My favorite memory is sitting on a lounge chair on serenity bay. My DH was off snorkeling, my in-laws were off bike riding and I was there with a good book under an umbrella. When I would look up all I would see is the beautiful blue water. It was great quiet time.

I also love the time spent on our veranda - more quiet time.

So many memories - glad we leave in a few days for our next cruise!

I've only been on one Disney Cruise but alreay have a few memories.

#1) Pin trading with all my new frieds. This was great

#2) Sitting alone on the adult beach just relaxing looking out at the clear blue water and having a drink delivered to me.

Can't wait till my next cruise, one week to go.

Hi, Keenercam! I was also on the 5/26 cruise last year. Can you believe I am still doing my scrapbooking of my pictures?

Some of my favorite memories:

-Meeting people from Dis Boards with lime green ribbons while waiting in line to go on board.

- Seeing my youngest daughter have fun saying "corner" using an austrailian accent during bingo

-getting spoiled by "Zita" in Palos (I wonder if she is still on board?)

- the adult cooking series with Corey and "Mums Pavlova!!

;)

the one that stands out the most is when our Disney Bus crossed the river bridge and our driver told us to start looking ahead. We could see the DCL logo on the stacks and then there she was, The Magic. We have made 2 other trips on the Magic since that day but the first sight of her in all of her white, yellow and black beauty is a special memory.
We were on her this time last year - more memories.

Watching my 2 year old daughter dancing at the bon Voyage party...what a scream ! And then at the Send off party at castaway Cay the look on her face when the kids were all dancing on the small deck and the characters came down to dance with them...
It was great I guess they have a variety show for the big kids during that time so there were only a few little ones there and they had great access to Minnie, donald, pluto & goofy!

The Varandah, totally..sitting there in the very early morning about 5:45 AM with my daughter..her eating cheerios as we pulled into St. Martin. (and my seasickness finally lifted!!)

I've only been on RCCL, but am looking forward to our 4 day Wonder cruise in 4 more days!!! Favorite cruising memories:
1. Leaving Port on a gorgeous night, knowing that we were headed to the caribbean, a place neither of us had been. The thrill of experiencing a new part of the world.
2. Waking up in the morning, 80 degree weather in January, and being in the middle of the ocean surrounded by blue water, knowing it was going to be a perfect day. Ahhhhh, peace.
3. Walking the beach in St. Martin, perfect.
4. The smiles on virtually everyones face. Everyone on the ship was in such a great mood, and were so kind to each other.
5. Snorkeling at a reef in Nassau, holding my DH's hand.
I can't wait to see what my favorite memories will be on the Wonder cruise, this time our kids will be with us!! -Sue

CASTAWAY CAY!!!

By far the best day I ever had was floating in the water all day long with my husband and children! It was absolutely wonderful! We've been on 2 3-day cruises and both times this island was wonderful!

We are doing the 7-day in August, I absolutely cannot wait!

Watching our DS in the Mickey Mouse pool. The sound of Beauty and the Beat still rings in my ears. . . . .

BTW, I just ordered the CD from Amazon.com. Someone on this site said it was great!!!!

:p I agree this is a hard question, but probably the thing I will always remember it the sound of the horn for the first time, it still gives me goosebumps, can't wait till we get to go back!!:smooth:

What a great thread!! Reading everyone else's memories reminds me so much of my own. I have to echo what others have said -- some of my greatest memories are of coming up over the hill and getting our first glimpse of the Magic, choking back joyful tears when hearing that whistle for the first time, early morning danishes and coffee in the sea breeze on the veranda, and quiet moments of blissed-out comfort on deck 4.

Another overall, very special memory to me was how it felt like being in a Disney fairy tale. You would be skipping down the hall, headed to another fun activity, and here would come Pinocchio, skipping down the hall himself. Or Alice. Or Cinderella. No lines, no Disney Secret Service. Just an impromptu hug from Minnie Mouse with little to no other people around. It was magical! I felt 5 years old again. :)

My favorite memory is from our 1st cruise (Nov 1998). We were with our entire family in 3 adjoining rooms. My DW and I were on the verandah early in the morning with our grandson (4 years old at the time) while the rest of the family was still sleeping. We ordered 3 glasses of juice for us as well as coffee bagels and cream cheese for a pre breakfast snack. Our grandson dropped and broke his glass of juice, then spilled my glass (which I gave him to replace his juice) and finally he drank my DW's glass. We all had a good laugh and every morning thereafter we ordered 5 glasses of juice for the 3 of us. One for me and DW and 3 for my grandson - one to break , one to spill and one to drink. That tradition remained for our 2nd cruise and will continue for our upcoming cruise this Nov. Our oldest grandson who is now almost 8 and I still talk about the incident and the tradition and it brings a smile to both of us every time that we talk about it.

There are many great memories from our May '01 cruise on the Magic.

Spending time with friends we traveled with and my family at meals and on the beaches in St. Thomas and in St. Martin.

Meeting and getting to know the Sowell's (Mike, Caroline, Blake & Bryce) on the Golden Eagle Catamaran excursion.

Unexpectedly getting to see San Juan, Puerto Rico when an medical emergency onboard forced the Magic to stop for an evacuation.

Meeting all of the DIS'ers on the cruise at the sail-away party, and meeting the legendary "Dave from Marietta."

Relaxing on Deck 4 before late dinner seating.

Picking up my DS (Andy) from the Oceaneer's Lab after being beeped (often) and seeing his face whenever he met characters onboard.

Standing for fomal portraits with my DW (Cam) and family. Cam's sheer delight when she got her picture taken with Mickey and Minnie.

Dinner at Palo's with our friends,Steve & Judy, (adult time away from the kids), and champagne brunch with Cam.

The tears on the faces of DW (Cam), DD (Jennifer) and DS (Andy) when we realized it was all over as we awaited the shuttle to the Port Radisson.

I am SO glad to be returning to the Magic with Cam (no children this time) this June 22 to make more wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

One night we stood on the deck and saw the lights of another cruise ship....( we were sure the lights of The Wonder were more beautiful) still it was fantastic.

Castaway Cay..... the sand, the blue/green water (so much saltier than the seawater here!)

Disney Dreams..... this was one point when I was sad I hadn't brought my chidlren....:(
