Favorite Memory of Disney Gone By.....

The Main Street Electrical Parade is the quintessential memory for me. I miss that.... I too, miss not having to wait so long for parades and characters, but I LOVE FP. I saw Carousel of Progress again last month -- after a long long time... and my dd4 wanted to do it again right away... we planned to go back to it and when we were gone and I realized we hadn't, I felt very sad to think she may never get to see it again!

Without a doubt Tapestry of Nations and Mainstreet Electric Parade. I would love both to return

If I remember correctly, "If You Had Wings" was my favorite ride as a child, and my parents always made sure we rode it.

But here's a couple of other great memories our family has of Disney, and they have nothing to do with attractions....

We used to camp at Fort Wilderness when I was growing up in the 80's. Well, we just LOVED to go into their restrooms because they piped in bluegrass music. As soon as camp was set up, we just HAD to go to the restroom to hear the fun music. Do they still play it? I thought they stopped at some point.

Also we enjoyed going to the Contemporary game room to play arcades, have ice cream and go see a movie in their little theater. That's the first time I saw "Summer Magic" and "Snow White". That's got to be one of my favorite memories of all Disney vacation time. I'm so sad they got rid of the little theater. :(

I, too, miss the old Illuminations....RHAPSODY IN BLUE!!

I miss the Tapestry of Dreams parade, too!

I miss the old Chef Mickey's at DD!

I miss shopping in MK....DD...ALL OVER! It used to be that they had different and unusual shops all over the world. Now, it's pretty much the same thing shop to shop! I was really happy when I saw the mickey purse I bought at DW at Mervyns! NOT!

Do they still have the balloons that are a big clear round balloon with a mickey head in the middle??? Used to love when they came out with a big bunch of those.

I miss the great rates at DW for rooms.....$150 for a tower room in the contemporary or $200 for a beach club room with free breakfast!

Not DW specifically but I sure miss the Disney Club. Especially when they relied on normal people to coordinate it for their companies and I got FREE passes!

not a ride ..... But instead I miss The Dixie Landings

I agree with Main Street Electrical Parade. I loved that when I was little. I forget which trip, a few years back, it was there and I was so happy to get to see it again. Nothing like reliving a wonderful childhood memory.

I miss Horizons - loved the smell of oranges.

Miss the fountain in front of spaceship earth. The one that looked like crystal with the Epcot logo. I agree - get rid of the graveyard.

I miss the Empress Lily - especially Steermans Quarters. Always had a great meal there.

I miss:

Main Street Electrical Parade
Swan Boats
Mr. Toads Wild Ride
Mickey Mouse Revue
20,000 Leagues
River Country

WDWLVR, you said it! The smell of oranges at Horizons!

Although the one I miss the most is the Tiki Room! I was so excited to take DH to it last year, but they've ruined it with the annoying banter between Zazu and Iago! I miss the classic!

The carousel of progress at the MK . Remeber the song

Now is the time! Now is the best time of your life!
Loved the ride in tomorrowland that is now buz . It was sponsored by EASTERN AIRLINES. :hyper: :earseek:

When I rode POTC back in 1983 you were able to dress up and have your picture taken.

The list is so long. I miss...

Horizons (it was one of the few "future" elements left in Future World")

World of Motion (Disney Needs more animatronic, slow dark rides)

Tapestry of Nations and Main Street Electrical Parade - The 2 Best Disney Parades ever.

If You Had Wings - Brought to you by Eastren, the wings of man. Buzz is just not as good.

The House of Future Living - This was the original post show for Space Mountain which you watched from the speedramp. The space station thing they have now redfines the word DULL. Heres's to the future and you!

Mr Toad. - What were they thinking when they removed this?

The Skyride - This was not only a great ride, but saved a lot of walking.

The Original Tiki Room show - I know it was dated, but I loved it. At least Disneyland still has it.

The original Tomorrowland Theming - I know it was dated, but it always look futuristic to me.

And Finally - There used to be a little shop by the Liberty tree run by Nestle. The sold cold milk and warm tollhouse cookies. Its been gone a lone time (more than 20 years), but I miss it everytime I go to Liberty Square.
