Favorite memory at Fort Wilderness

Yea, that place is not coming back. You'll never see another water park in Disney that is connected to the lake, it's actually against Florida law now to have water parks that aren't fed by city water.

I miss that place a lot, I've been to all the water parks, and I still don't think any of them hold up to River Country. Just something about that place ;)

Mine isn't one particular memory.......I just love knowing that I am sharing something with my kids that my dad shared with me, unfortunately he is not with us to share it with his grandkids.

My favorite memory would be from Dec. 05 when we (DH, DS4, and DS2) went with my parents, my in-laws, sister in-law,my sister and her DH and their 2 daughters. Just having both sets of grandparents get to experience my kids first trip to Disney was great. Then there was the nice bus driver who helped us avoid a melt down by DS2. He was tired and we were approching the our stop to get back the the campsite and DS2 started to get a little cranky, so as the bus was pulling up to the stop the bus driver called to DS2 by name to say the magic word and the lights would turn on in the bus. DS2 was amazed when it worked, and was more agreeable the rest of the was to the campsite.

My favorite memory at FW was when my Second Daughter turned 7 on our trip. 6 years old had been a real bad year for her. On her 6th birthday Hurricane Charley had hit our county and our house and no one came to her birthday (becuase everone was cleaning up):sad1: ! We had no power anyway. :confused3 Then 6 monthes later in Feb. She had to have her appendix removed by emergancy surgery:eek: . And then that summer her best friend moved out of state:sad2: ! Needless to say she needed a little Disney magic. We went camping in a tent and she thought that was the greatest. (We had never been tent camping before) and we were at Disney!!! We explained at check in why we were there and on her birthday morning a CM brought a bunch of balloons and a Happy Birthday Certificate to our campsite and gave it to her:goodvibes . That was the best moment of the whole year!!!:woohoo:

Hey Colson39 -did you see that I FINALLY figured out how to put my pictures in??? Yeah! :yay:

Anyway, can I give you my favorite FW memory from - LAST WEEK?? (My first time there, hopefully the first of many visits for my family!!) :goodvibes

We loved watching the MK fireworks from the beach and then the ELP...then we jumped on our cart and drove over to the campfire area and watched a few minutes of the end of the movie (Nemo) and then DH was determined to get back to the cabin to watch the last few minutes of the Final Four BB games... There were so many golf carts buzzing around... the weather was perfect - just chilly enough to need a jacket... then since we missed the campfire we made smores in our cabin before the kids went to bed. The end of another perfect day! :cloud9:

Yea I saw your picture, congrats! It really is easy once you figure out what you're doing.

You just had to rub it in that you you were just at the Fort last week didn't you! lol ;)

Glad to see I'm not the only male Disney nut on here. My wife thinks I must be having an affair with someone on here...lol.

Back in Feb. I made a solo trip to FW while DW and DD went to NYC for a week. She couldn't believe I wanted to go all alone, (though she should know me by now)!!!! She accused me of planning to meet someone there...:rotfl2:
