Does anyone else have an all time favorite WDW memory? I have only been one time, but my wife has been twice. She went just after she finished her second year of University. Then we went for our honeymoon last October. On our second night there, we went to MK and watched Wishes......she was crying and I couldn't figure out why. When I asked her, she told me it was because she didn't think she would ever be able to convince me to go and that she was just so happy to be there.....I guess it overwhelmed her. Anyways, that is my favorite memory of our first trip.

<Script language='Javascript'>var rndNum = Math.floor(Math.random() * 10000);eval("var CDTDate" + rndNum + " = 'November 11, 2004 1:00:00 AM EST';");document.writeln("<form name='CDTform" + rndNum + "' action='Javascript:void(0);'>");document.writeln('<font size=2 color=darkblue> :earsboy:</font><br>');document.writeln("<input type=text value='' size=40 name='WrittenByJamesMVenglarikII'>");document.writeln("</form>");if (theFunction) theFunction += "var d = new Date();";else var theFunction = "var d = new Date();";theFunction += "var c = new Date('" + eval("CDTDate" + rndNum) + "');";theFunction += "var diff = (c - d)/1000;";theFunction += "var days = Math.floor(diff / 86400);";theFunction += "var rem = diff - (days * 86400);";theFunction += "var hours = Math.floor(rem / 3600);";theFunction += "rem = rem - (hours * 3600);";theFunction += "var minutes = Math.floor(rem / 60);";theFunction += "rem = rem - (minutes * 60);";theFunction += "var seconds = Math.floor(rem);";theFunction += "if ((days < 0) | (hours < 0) | (minutes < 0) | (seconds < 0)) ";theFunction += "var out = '';";theFunction += "else ";theFunction += "var out = ' ' + days + ' days ' + hours + ' hrs. ' + minutes + ' mins. ' + seconds + ' secs.';";theFunction += "document.forms.CDTform" + rndNum + ".elements.WrittenByJamesMVenglarikII.value = out;";setInterval(theFunction, 1000);</Script>:earsboy:

OHHH that's so sweet.

MIne is the time we decided to ride SM one more time at night and timed it perfectly(by accident) because the fireworks were going off as we rode it and the view was perfect.

Is our second trip. We decided to go to MK for our last day and as we were leaving DD turned around looked at the castle and started to cry (but don't tell her I told you!)

I asked her what was wrong and her reply "I just wanted to get one last look 'cause I know it will be a loooooong time before I get to come back!" Little did she realize, I had already started to plan our next trip!LOL

The rest is history!

My favourite memory is watching DH watch the new China movie. He was so entranced. Once we get the car paid off, I'm gonna take him there.

Kungaloosh!
Mort.

On our first trip, the night before we had to leave, DH and I were sitting at the train station in the MK, eating popcorn and people watching. I was trying to absorb everything, the sights, sounds, smells, I didn't think I'd ever get back and I wanted to remember everything! I too (like a few of you have mentioned) started to cry, and DH promised we'd be back before too long. It's a promise that's happily been kept! :)

Another cool memory. We were at the MK one evening when there was a shuttle launch. They stopped the fireworks (or delayed them, I'm not sure which it was), and everyone watched the light of the shuttle streaking through the sky. You could actually see the "burn" of the O rings (?), as they seperated from the shuttle. We had forgotten there was going to be a launch, so it was a very cool surprise! :) :)

One of my memories is also of the shuttle. We were on the train between Toon town and Main Street when the train stopped. They came on and told us that the shuttle was about to go up and that we'd have perfect seats. They were right! It was great.

A moment that we can all relate to is from our trip last September. We were parked in front of Wilderness Lodge to load up the van for the trip home. My DS (8 years old) was in the seat. I said to him "why don't you go and fill up your mug for the trip home. He didn't answer me. When I looked inside he was crying so hard that his body was shaking. He said "I don't want to go home. I started crying and said neither do I but don't worry we'll be back. I always want to cry when we leave the property through the gates and wave goodbye to my friends. People I work with think I'm nuts, but who cares. (I also cry ever week when I watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition)

Permanently etched in my brain is the face of my DD when she met Mickey for the first time. It was priceless.

Thanks for making me remember. It's why we keep on going back.::yes::

All your posts have brought tears to my eyes.

How special to have seen the shuttle launch - what a treasure!

But it's so nice to hear that other people cry when they leave - my DH thinks I'm nuts (and so do my DD's for that matter).

What I appreciate the most is all the sights, sounds and smell of WDW, the attention to detail and the memories all the characters bring back. I get all chocked up though when I think about Walt and how he never got to see his dream park and how wonderful it is.

Did anyone else grow up watching the Wonderful World of Disney on the CBC? That's where I first got hooked. I was very little but I so clearly remember Walt Disney pre-viewing Disneyland and thinking that I must go there. Course, I had to wait until I could pay for the trip myself! Trip 9 coming up in August and I can't wait.

A lot of crying going on in this thread!! :p :D :D

Susan--Ontario, Extreme Home Makeover gets me a little weepy sometimes too! ;) :D

Great memories, keep them coming! :)

Nice thread, Blusk! :)

That was one of my favorite things to watch as a kid....I just picked up one of the Disney Treasures DVDs and it has footage of parks and stuff on it, it's the Tomorrow Land DVD. I can actually remember watching some of this stuff on CBC. It's great. Those were always my favorite too, the Disney cartoons that were "educational :)" in nature. Even better were the ones where Goofy would play sports, the hockey one was always my favorite.

I went my my DM (80 years) and DD#2 in March. My best memory was on the first day, we checked in at PC and set out to go to the park. I had MGM in my mine (spent 4 months planning for it), but took the wrong bus (silly ran for the first bus that appeared) and ended up at MK. We arrived just in time to watch the parade and stayed to watch WISH. My mom said it was the best time she had ever had in her life.

Best memory...our first trip dd (7) was told by dh and I that when you walk into Main St. at MK you will see Cinderellas' castle. Well, we walk under the train station and she mumbles under her breath "I don't see a castle" Just as we reach the top of Main Street I hear her gasp, I'll never forget the look on her face. Further down the road, O.K., we had reached the bakeshop ds(4) says "Hey look! a castle!" Good thing he's cute.

Two weeks ago, stood in the middle of main street with my family watching wishes on the last night of our trip. Probably the last time that we will take a family vacation to the world. DS is 19, working, hoping to get into university. A very happy, yet sad moment knowing that it was the last one.
