We tried Boma's several years ago - it wasn't one of DH's favorites.

But we thought we'd try it again on our next trip.

DH asked me to find out what some of your favorite foods there are (so he'll know what to be on the look-out for). And pictures if you have them.

Many thanks!

No pictures, but we could make a meal of the Mulligatawney soup all by itself!

Its worth it to just go back for the soup, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

Sorry, no pics. This is our traditional first night dinner every tro[ and since we come from CA, we fly all day and are STARVING when we get to BOMA and nobody wants to wait long enough for me to do my scrapbooking photo shoots!!!!

I like almost everything at BOMA but my favorite favorite is the wood smoked meat that has some dipping sauces on the side that you can choose from and I like the mustard sauce. This would be at the meat station right where the buffet line starts on the left--they carve the meat for you at the station.

I also like the chicken salad with the chili cilantro. And I like all of the soups except for the seafood stew one (I love fish but not in soup!!!) My personal favorite is the coconut curried chicken soup.

Fufu Potatoes - this is my absolute favorite food there. They usually have some good salmon, lots of fabulous soups and really good salads too.

I love the prime rib dipped in the mustard sauce. It is a bit spicy but goes great together. Pinotage is the best red wine with the prime rib.

Other favs:
African Flank Steak
Potatoes with Afritude
Fufu (sweet potato mash)
Chicken Pepper Pot Soup
Carrot Ginger Soup
Coconut Curried Chicken Soup
Curried Coconut Seafood Stew
Chicken Corn Porridge
Butternut Squash Soup
Mango salad dressing for a salad
Carrot, Coconut, Pineapple Salad
Roasted Vegetables
Avacado, Papaya & Grapefruit Salad

I too love the soups, especially the carrot-ginger. We will be there in two weeks and have a Friday ADR for Boma, but from what I've read on another thread, that's not one of the Friday soups. I'm sure I won't be disappointed in the other choices though. We also love the wood fired meats, fufu and desserts. Can't wait to be there again. :tigger: pooh: :dumbo:

I love the salmon, anyway they fix it and also the prime rib. The pasta salad and hummus are both yummy. For dessert the banana bread pudding with custard sauce is one of my favorites. :goodvibes

I'm a picky eater and won't eat some of the more adventurous foods at Boma, but the Prime Rib is excellent!

We are going to have dinner at Boma in Dec. so I can't tell you what my favorite is. After reading the previous posts, I may have more than one :rotfl:

African Flank Steak
Potatoes with Afritude
Fufu (sweet potato mash)
Chicken Pepper Pot Soup
Coconut Curried Chicken Soup
Butternut Squash Soup
Roasted Vegetables

Took our favorites from this very good post, add to that:

Bobotie (They serve a version of this at breakfast that is good too.)
Prime Rib (with the orange colored sauce, cannot remember the name)
the couscous dish (also cannot rememeber the name)
the chicken they do on the night they don't do the flank steak
Coconut Tiramisu
Cassava Cake (not really cake, but excellent!)

Enjoy! :)

My favorites are the prime rib (I do not like prime rib any where else) and zebra domes. Hubby's favorite is the curry chicken soup!

Mmm the soups are great along with the prime rib and salmon.

Claire ;)

The salmon that was marinated in some kind of mustard sauce, zebra domes, prime rib, the pumpkin-something soup, butternut squash soup, zebra domes, fufu, zebra domes, the veggies, and the couscous.

Honestly, we (me, DH, ds3 and ds6) tried almost everything on the buffet, and there wasn't much we didn't like. I didn't care for one of the pasta salads, but that's all that I remember not liking.

The meat station, the soups (yum), the fufu, the desserts, and don't forget the wines!
Meg

The potato bacon soup was very yummy.
The prime rib was also great.
I liked the grapefruit/avocado/papaya salad and I loved the cilantro vinagrette over the mixed greens. Thats about all I ate.

I didnt care for any of the desserts. I got a plate of everything and told DH "I hate to say it but the best dessert is the sugar cookies"LOL
Until Chef TJ brought out the deep fried Oreos. OMG-delish

The butternut squash soup is soooo good. I also love the pasta salad, the various hummus dips, the salmon, the falafel, the prime rib with mustard sauce, the chocolate mouse & zebra domes.... Wow! I can't wait to eat there again! Only 20 days to go!
