Favorite Fish Extender Gift?

Magnetic White Board with marker. Great for messages in case you don't want to carry around the wave phones.

Is there anything that you received multiple times that you could do without?
I'd like to make something gender neutral for parents or adults - any suggestions?

I think our 7 day 25 cabin FE had at least 5 ice cream kits. I was one of them, though it was a part of a larger gift. We got at least 3 sets of sprinkles. I ended up being the only one to give individual packs of oreos. I figure they work for ice cream, or not.

We just got our finalized FE groups for our upcoming cruise. I'm thinking of making each person in the room a little bag of ice cream toppings to use with the self serve ice cream machines, and then giving each cabin a CD of MNSSHP music (our cruise is right before Halloween)...do those sound okay?

That sounds like an awesome idea!!! Good thinking!

So I have two..
1st is the one I received: back story. We were traveling right after the London Olympics. I had just giving birth the my youngest a few months before. I had shared that we had named her London and could not find anything with her name on it.
I received so many personalized items for her..
Onesies, washcloth, socks! We also received keychains and pens from the London Olympics from a couple traveling from the UK.
I loved it all!

2nd one is one we gave:
I received lots of good feedback.
We like to give the "oops. I bought to much bags"
1. These are bags that fold flat in the bottom of your suit case. (Try to get disney ones)
2. Need to be small enough fit under airplane seat, yet big enough to fit all those extra items.. (reusable shopping bag size)

Purpose: at the end of your trip when you run out of room in your suit case, you can break out the bag and carry it has a carry on.

We had bought 30 mickey and minnie ones of these our our last cruise.. After I gave them all out. I had so many thank you messages on my white board.
The day we got off the boat, I we saw at least 20 of them begging used!!

We got great home made magnets with the cruise stats on it
a CD with cruise and Disney music on it
key chains.....all home made and Disney themed

What we didn't like :duck: have been all the dollar store items....we are 2 adults.
We left all of those for the cabin steward to do with as he pleased

I've seen this type of statement a few times now, and I have to say it certainly comes across a little obnoxious. Seems like those who say that are making certain assumptions such as:

A) everyone has tons of free time on their hands
B) with all that free time everyone has, no one can think of a more enjoyable way to spend that time than making crafts
C) everyone is very creative, and highly skilled at making crafts.

I generally try to stay away from those types of items or am very selective in my rare uses of them. Maybe, for some people, they may not have a lot of other options. Everyone should be considerate of that. No one should be disparaging them on here. Afterall, I don't think it is consistent with the whole spirit of the FE exchange.

Actually, I think the whole thing has gotten to a strange point. What initially started out as a very modest exchange (stickers, candies, etc.) has become this thing where probably too many people feel pressure to come up with the most unique ideas that no one has done before - and it not only goes for the gifts they give out, but even for creating their fish extenders themselves! Now, I still think everyone's hearts are in the right place and everyone goes into it with all the right intentions. But there's no denying, that overall, the gifts have gotten more "elaborate" (and much more expensive in most cases). I just wonder where this is headed a few years from now.

Were all the sprinkles and toppings individually wrapped?

I will say that we got so much candy that even though we're a family of four, we left a big bag of candy in the stateroom for the steward to take, I hope the crew enjoyed it because we couldn't eat anymore!
I have to say, candy is my personal least favorite thing to get because of all the free-flowing food and sweets on the cruise. But my kids LOVE it. So I limit what they can eat then pack up the rest and give it to the Club/Lab counselors on the last night. It ends up being a win for everyone that way.

I agree. The whole point is to spread a little Pixie Dust during your cruise. :wizard: We tend to give the same thing, though not exactly the same, each cruise we participate. It's small and personalized for the cruise but not per person, and I hope everyone likes it. But whether they do or not, my family and I have fun designing, packaging, and delivering to everyone.

We received a lot of great FE gifts on our first cruise in May. I was super nervous about what to bring because I am not crafty. I made a 2 disc CD of music from all of the Disney Parks and personalized the covers with stuff about the cruise. I don't know if anyone liked it, but I still listen to it in the car from time to time when I need my Disney fix. So even if no one else liked it....I did :)

I personally felt appreciative of all the gifts we got because that meant that someone went out of their way to buy/make and bring something on the boat to give to me and my family. Although some "gifts" may have been more relatable to my personal interests than others, I truly enjoyed them all. My kids went from rolling their eyes at their crazy mom for making a bunch of CDs for a group of strangers to being like kids at Christmas on the boat. They would run down the hallway to see if anything new was placed in our FE - and they range in ages from 12 to 18! It really added to the magic of the cruise for us.

Off topic but we have a Male named London in the family, much older than your DD. We always found and gave him a ton of London items, that of course he still has. Try Home Goods. Seriously tons of items with London on them. Hail to the Anglophiles.

One favorite gift was a modified "twas the night before Christmas" poem all rewritten as if Santa was visiting the cruise ship. We were on the Dream over Christmas, so this made sense. Also, a first aid kit that included individual packs of ibuprofen, since I used all I brought once I injured my ankle. And the kids received small personalized art from one participant that was an artist.
For our 2015 cruise I have a sheet to write down ideas at this point. After Christmas will decide on a smaller list of ideas so I can start to figure out the details.

I LOVE the idea of the CD of MNSSHP music!! how fun!!

Now I am getting nervous that my gifts are going to be deemed as cheap. I put a lot of thought into all of them and bought some pretty early (to save $$), made some, and then bought some more. But I really hope that people don't think that they are cheap...
