We are scheduled to be in SSR (home resort) with our 4 YO grandson for New Year's Eve. I have read that there is a lot going on at SSR and you can see the downtown Disney fireworks, too. I'm wondering if we should stay there or change to another resort (if possible), and would appreciate any feedback from those that have stayed over New Year's Eve.

Thanks so much!

We were at SSR for New Years 06/07. The resort hosted a party at the Congress Park quiet pool area. There was a cash bar available there and party favours for everyone. DD spent the night swimming in the pool until the PI fireworks began at the stroke of midnight. We were in the perfect spot for watching the fireworks from PI and could also see the EPCOT and DS fireworks. I'm glad we were there for the fireworks. Getting anywhere else on Disney property that evening and after the parties finish is an exercise in futility. We arranged to pick up friends at CSR and brought them back to SSR for the fireworks -- traffic was very heavy both coming and going.

The BWV's are our favorite resort all of the time but for New Years they are great. A lot is always going on on the Boardwalk itself and easy access to two parks makes it the best. No need to fight in the rush of people exiting the parks and going to their cars or busses after midnight is a big plus.

That's easy-CRV-no wait stroll back from MK. :thumbsup2

Until then either BWV or BCV, no wait stroll back from either MGM or EPCOT.

Yes, CRV will be wonderful for that. :yay:

I thought I read that the walk is actually pretty long from MGM and/or Epcot, so I'm a little concerned with 2 4YOs. Is it comparable to the walk from MK to CR? If so, that's not bad at all.

I'm actually more interested in getting feedback on which resorts have planned celebrations that also have some sort of view of fireworks etc should we choose not to brave the parks with the little ones.

The bridge from France to the BWV (even closer to BCV) is about the same as the edge of the lake (straight out from SE) is to the bus stops. So for EPCOT you are likely closer to your room than the bus stop after NYE Fireworks and no stampede either. MGM is quite a hike to BWV and further to BCV, but I will guarantee you will be back to BWV before you even get on a bus unless you race over there ahead of everyone (not likley with 2 4YO) and maybe even BCV-that is assuming you have strollers-it would be far for them to walk-especially at midnight-just do EPCOT until they grow those legs a little more.

Thanks for the info - we'll definitely have a big but comfy twin stroller for the little guys - I cannot imagine visiting there with the grands without bringing a stroller!
