I'm sure this has been done before, but I thought it would be fun to reminisce anyway!! :teeth:

My favorite memories of Disney World...

...Being 13 and staying at the Contemporary Resort, and my parents letting my sister and I go back over to MK 1/2 hour before the park closed so we could ride space mountain over-and-over-and-over-and-over...by closing, we were the only ones on it. There was this place on main street that sold chocolate covered strawberries and we used to go and gobble a whole bunch of them up and then go on space mountain! :crazy2:

(That reminds me of a funny story - TOTALLY forgot about this!! That same trip, I had this funky sparkly neon purple purse with me - I was 13, it was my first purse, it was in the '70's, give me a break... :rotfl: ...anyway, I had this mini photo album in it of Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran, who I was IN LOVE with. While sitting on a bench in MK, I turned to throw something in the garbage and turned back and my purse was gone. That night, this woman calls our hotel room - my purse had our room key in it - and HELD MY PURSE FOR RANSOM! :lmao: She said she wanted $100 bucks for it. My dad thought it was hysterical, meanwhile I was begging and pleading to please pay the money b/c I REALLY wanted my Nick Rhodes pictures back. :rotfl2: The woman called back about 5 times and kept reducing the "price", my dad kept saying "No, we are not giving you $100 / $50 / $20 / anything to get the purse back, you can keep it". Too funny.)

Glad to say I returned to MK many times and never had anything else stolen, but that was a classic.

Another fond memory - that same trip, we heard music and stepped outside our patio door to find that water/light parade from MK at our door. Turns out the waterway where the floats exit or finish goes right by there. We were in a ground floor unit of the Contemporary. Way cool.

Now that I'm reminiscing, that was the same trip where - the day after I turned for a second and found my purse missing, my mom turned for a second and found my 4 year old brother missing. :scared1: . We had park security looking everywhere, my mom and dad combed the park like mad. Finally, my sister suddenly said "he's at the carousel". She'd had this epiphany. (Later, she told us that she had just sat and thought, if I was DB4 at MK, where would I go...). Sure enough, he was standing beside the carousel watching it go around and around...

It's a miracle my parents made it home with their sanity from that trip!! :teeth:

Anyone else have any fond or funny memories they want to share?

Kathy.

haha. that is so cute/funny about nick rhodes. I would have been like that with hanson when I was 13! LoL. I used to carry around photo's of them in my bag too, it was crazy. I can't believe that lady wouldn't give you your bag back. What an idiot!

Our first family trip my DS (7 at the time and very into trains) went hop-hop-hopping up the steps to the WDWRR in anticipation of riding on a real train, and at WDW to boot. We have it on video and it always makes me cry.

Same trip, during the Electric Light parade, while watching the parade he leans over and thanks us for bringing him here.

Also riding RNRC MANY times in a row during their "sneak" opening.

Last trip, walking around and doing things with my oldest DS (14 at the time) while younger DS and DH were back at the hotel. Just a nice time with my teenager who still likes to do stuff with mom :goodvibes

It was My honeymoon in 1999. Me and the DW just checked into the beach club and were looking for Dinner. We had gotten in later than We thought, and most everything was closed. We got to the yacht club galley just as it was closing. We thought We were out of luck when the Maitre'd(sp?) saw us and explained they were closing. My wife mentioned it was our honeymoon, and The maitre'd let us in , gave us a complimentary glass of champagne , and kept the restaraunt open long enough to order and eat our meals!! It was My first experience with "Disney magic" pixiedust: and it's what's hooked Me ever since.

My first trip 4 years ago, my son was then 7 and it was me, my Mum and him, we were staying off site at some old cheap motel (I'd got last minute cheap plane tickets and just booked the holiday with no planning, info etc) We were up so early due to the jet lag and made it to MK before it opened. What a wonderful surprise when the character train drew up and the song and dance started. We had no idea it was like that - I think it was the most magical start and we were all in tears in seconds.
Even now, 4 trips down we have to get to MK opening just to enjoy the faces of those around us

I had been going to Disney for a few years with my children when I brought my DH (boyfriend at the time) to his first trip to Disney. He had never been to Disney when he was a kid and my kids and I were total freaks for Disney. Now I always went the day after Thanksgiving, which here in NY is hunting season too. He actually cut his hunting season short so that we could all go. Well needless to say...we had to buy extra luggage for the trip home because HE bought so much. And 3 years later, we bought into DVC. Wish I had done this before, but at least we did it. Now we have years of magical memories to make, as a new Disney Ohana (ohana means family, family means no one gets left behind or forgotten).

Another great memory was of DS and DD when they were younger and we were at the AK, we were in Camp Minnie Mickey. Minnie and Mickey were coming out to go into thier huts and Minnie took DD by the hand, and Mickey put his arm around DS and they lead them up to get their autographs.

OK one more, very first trip to Disney in 1995. DD had just turned 2 and we were at Epcot in the American Adventure. Minnie saw that DD was in an adorable little red dress with stars. She picked her up and brought her to a bench and just sat there cuddling with her for about 10 minutes. Everyone was trying to get her autograph, but she just sat their with DD. That same trip I went on Space Mountain with DS, we didn't realize it was a roller coaster, well needless to say we were both surprised, but loved it. And I'm not a roller coaster person. I will never forget my first time on that ride for as long as I live!!!!

Disney trip - $2000 (just a number)
Camera - $600
Pictures of kids with characters - PRICELESS

Memories will live on forever!!!! pixiedust:

to the op that started this - thanks for making me remember!!!!

My first Disney experience happened when I was 8 years old and my mom took me to Disneyland. I really dont remember a whole lot about the day, but I remember when we walked it we where one of those # so and so visitor (this was during the 30th anniversary), and my mom thought we had won the new car. We had actually won two collectors Mickey and Minnie plush, they where worth I think $60 total back then, I still have them, and the mouse ears :)

We didn't have a whole lot of money, my mom was a single parent, so going to Disney was like... winning the lottery only better. It made me a disney freak, and I tell my mom it was all her fault! :)
