i've been reading menus online and i'm salivating :rotfl:

orginally i was going to book Palo on our first night at Lumiere's; but DD has persuaded me otherwise. Tell me what you love to eat here please? funny how some days I look at the menus and think blech and other days everything looks heavenly and I think how do I choose? so to pass the next few months I thought i'd get some opinions of the different dining dishes :listen:

thank you

tonight what looks good to me is:

pearls of seasonal melon - with port wine (?)
chilled vichyssoise soup - pureed leeks, onions and cream (i love to try new!)

and i'm looking for input on the main entrees:
Braised lamb shank - with portabello polenta in wine sauce
Roasted duck breast - with sauteed parsnip (?) in orange sauce :wave2:

Just back from the 1/29 Western. My advice is to try it all! We frequently got several entrees and desserts just to have a taste of something new and a backup if we didn't like it.

Dishes that stood out to me on this trip were: Chilled Mango soup (tastes like melted orange sherbet), grilled Mahi-Mahi, Chocolate Souffle, Chocolate Lava Cake, the Strawberry shortcake (little pastry cookie type things were the shortcake), seafood medley pasta, Filet of Beef Tenderloin, the All Hands on Deck cheese platter (room service) and believe it or not, the chicken tenders! And at Palo's the chocolate souffle and tirimisu were divine, as well as the tepenade and roasted red pepper dip they serve with the bread basket. As mentioned in my trip report, we loved Palo's brunch much more than the dinner! The buffet was to die for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the pizza was fabulous!

And bear in mind that the menus are the same in all restaurants, so it's not partial to Lumiere's. What they serve there would be the same thing they're serving at Parrot Cay and Animators that night.

Hope this helps...

LOL, those chicken tenders are awesome! It sounds cheesy, but they are really that yummy, with honey mustard sauce. All this money we spent on a cruise, and one of the highlights was the chicken tenders!

The Palo's brunch is amazing, and though the dinner is equally good, I would go with the brunch if had to choose only one. We had Ele as our server for both, and she is AWESOME! She's a lot of fun and has a great personality!

I don't know if I'm being too picky, but Topsiders food was really awful this time around. The sausage was more like jerky, the hashbrowns seemed stale...we preferred to go to Lumiere's for breakfast just because the food was much better there.

The Golden Emmy's was really good. Our little boy and our girls got to be "interviewed" by the Oprah look alike, but Matthew was shy and wouldn't say anything. It was all really cute! It's definitely a show not to miss.

One thing we were surprised we could do is check out strollers from the ship. This was a nice bonus, and it made the port visits with the kids much more enjoyable. They don't cost anything but you are required to put down a 100.00 refundable deposit.

If you can, try to do the bridge tour.. It's about 30 minutes, but it's neat to see where the captain and his staff do all their work. We really enjoyed it.

That's about it for now!

THis is only true on the "speciality" nights (formal, semi formal, pirate, small world). The other three nights each restaurante has its own "private" menu.

Small correction - it's called "The Golden Mickeys"

so to pass the next few months I thought i'd get some opinions of the different dining dishes
Finally to the OP's topic - what I like at Lumieres. The Herb-Crusted Sea Bass (and I DO NOT like fish) is very good. Creme Brulee - way good. The White Chocolate Domes are AWESOME!!

I LOVE the herb-crusted sea bass. Oh, so good.

The one dining caveat I have is in AP, and is as follows:

"Ain't no cake in the Fudge Cake"

You order that, they bring you basically a chunk of fudge the size of a VCR tape. Drizzled with chocolate, of course. I ate about 3/4 of it (and I medaled in eating junk food at the '88 Seoul Olympics) and I swear I didn't blink for three hours...

I'm a lamb lover but I'm picky about how it's prepared - I thought the lamb shank was great.

OOOps! I'm a dork! Yes, It's the Golden Mickeys, I don't know what I was thinking!

I had the lamb in October. Thought it was very good. There was a gent at the table that got the lamb and I don't remember that he was very happy about it.

Where do I sign up for one of those? AND, do I have to start eating chocolate chips straight out of the bag now to be "In training" for the big event? :rotfl2:

No unfortuantly you need to be cutting down on that stuff before the cruise so that you will still fit in your clothes at the end of the cruise because you get off the ship at port canaveral (clothing required) not St. Maarten (clothing optional);) But that training sure tastes ...er...I mean... sounds good!

Was also on the 1/29 cruise. Have to agree that we thought Topsiders was not very good. We only used it to grab milks for our daughter and maybe a quick bite like a pastry. I think they really need to renovate Topsiders. Its poorly laid out and the decor seems very run down - this was our first restaurant experience when we got on board and not a good first impression!

Chix fingers at Pluto's are very good. Palo is awesome - we did dinner and brunch. We had Marco from Italy as our waiter - ask for him as he was excellent! All the food there was great.

Gave up sweets on January 1st and hoping I can keep it up. Ooohhh, Tiramasu???? I don't think I can resist.!!!

I gave up chocolate January 1st 2004. So it has been a little over a year. But your description of that Fudge Cake was making my mouth water.

I am a true choco-holic and was eating it by the pound (and I do mean gaining lbs. too!!) So since I gave up chocolate (and french fries last year) I've dropped 38 lbs. and am actually happier without it. Too crazed about the stuff. :bounce:

I am hoping I can keep it up on the cruise so I don't gain a good 10 lbs. onboard.

Chocolate gives me migraines looks like I'd be sticking with tirimisu and creme brulee, which sounds great. Or I'll bring lots of medication.
