Going on my first Disney cruise in 8 weeks. I'm really enjoying looking over the menus and wondering what the fan favorites are. What entrees (or other foods) are your absolute FAVORITES in the formal dining rooms? Any duds I should avoid?
Thanks!

This is so subjective. I usually go for the prime rib, anything with crab in it (I'm a crabby person) and the lobster.

There are lots of nice foods what ship are you on? How long is the cruise?

I like to test new things and sample, but Steak is a core order.

I think my favorite meal of the week in the MDRs was the lamb on the Royal Court standard rotational menu.

The lasagna at Palo (brunch) was the best Lasagna I have ever had. EVER.

I was extremely underwhelmed by the MDR entrees. Apps were good, desserts I enjoyed but not impressed with the entrees. As a matter of fact, one thing we will certainly change on our next Disney cruise is to not do the MDR as much. Formal night, semi formal night (capt's reception) and maybe Pirate Night..thats it. It's too time consuming and the entrees aren't THAT much better than what can be found at Cabanas, room service or even the sandwiches on board. It was the one time all 9 in our group could sit down and be together so we did it, but next time when our group is smaller plans will change.

The lamb lollipop on the Dream was delicious (not the lamb shank on the Magic). I still think about it!

Not sure if they have it on your ship, but on Dream's Animators I love the potato celeriac gratin.

I loved the pasta pursettes (appetizer), the chilled soups were great as well. The burgers at lunch in the MDR's were very tasty. I didn't care for the Beef Wellington at all and there was some duck appetizer one night that wasn't too appetizing either.

The great thing was they always let me get a side of Mac n Cheese when I wanted it and this guy loves the DCL Mac n Cheese.

We also mentioned to our head waiter on the 2nd night that our kids liked plain white dinner rolls not the specialty breads they serve and every night after that we had 2 baskets of bread. One of specialty and one plain white rolls. Gotta love DCL!

We live in Germany and it is hard to find really good seafood, so I eat ALL the seafood. ;)

We loved Remy too, and are trying Palo for brunch and dinner in a few weeks. Also, try the coffee at the Cove cafe and the martinis at the Skyline.

DWs favorite appetizer is the Butternut Squash soup in AP.
Myself the Rib Eyes on the grill at CC-SB.

One of the salads has goat cheese and a berry vinaigrette. I order a double serving of that + the lighter note steak cooked medium. I chop the steak, pile it onto my salad and voila! Yummy!

I'm not a huge fan of cruise food overall, especially the desserts. I eat stuff to nourish then enjoy all my liquid indulgences. :)

Ahhh, so many choices. My whole family loves the truffle pursettes, my daughter orders them as her entree. Another favorite is the veal chop in Animator's Palate (on the Wonder, not the Fantasy). All of the chill soups are delicious as well as the wild mushroom soup. If I was not in public, I would have my face to the bowl :-) Of course the lobster is a must as well. Enjoy your cruise...they are incredible!

I did not find much that really impressed me. There were a lot of things that were good, but not much that was can't miss. I don't remember most of them now. Some of my favorites were:
Palo- grape and gorgonzola pizza
Pirate night- pot stickers. I didn't even order them, DH did, but they were really good. I wished I had ordered
Lobster in MDR
Crunch walnut cake
Also there was a hazelnut cake roll at the buffet one day that was really really good.
If I were even contemplating which menu to skip and go to Palo or Remy, it would be the prince and princess menu. I was not really impressed.

Everything we had on the Dream was very good but nothing stood out to me as being exceptional. My daughter still raves about the lobster mac n cheese, tho. I'm getting it the next time when we sail this summer on the Wonder.
