I saw Charlie,nj's thread about an old Christmas show and it got me to thinking...While I had never seen the Christmas show Charlie,nj was talking about, I remember lots of Christmas specials that don't air anymore.

As a child of the 80s, these were two of my favorites:

A Claymation Christmas

By the people that brought you the California Raisins (who make a cameo in this 30-minute special as well)...Funny with some great music.

Muppet's Family Christmas

All the Muppets -- Sesame Street, Fraggles, Muppet Babies, and old stand-bys like Kermit and Miss Piggy -- join together at Fozzie's mother's house. I can't recommend this one enough. Honestly, it's my favorite Christmas show ever! I can't believe they don'y air it anymore. It's on DVD so you should check it out if you feel like it.

What are your favorite Christmas shows that they never seem to air anymore?

I would love to see John Denver and the Muppets. Thank heavens for the CD!

The Christmas Toy.

I don't know who made it, but it was sort of like Toy Story, and it first aired about 15 years ago.

Babes in Toyland-the one with Drew Barrymore and Keanu Reeves

I have Babes in Toyland of video. The kids love it! Anyone remember The King Family? I loved them back in the day!

I remember one with I think Dudley Moore. He was an elf. There was a homeless boy and he was friends with a rich girl. I just remember bits and pieces of it. But that popped into my head.

That was Santa Claus The Movie.

I liked this muppet show Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas.

I think you're probably talking about the Jim Henson show. I have it on tape and it's really good, too.

I meant to put that in my original post. I just rented it from the library the other day. It should've been a classic. Done in 1977, it really is a marvel for the Henson clan.

I think this was the best Christmas special ever! I just loved all of it! Especially the Twelve Days of Christmas! I have the sheet music and the CD, but I'd love to have it on DVD.

I do remember The King Family Christmas specials!!

What ever happened to them and who were they anyway?? The only time I remember hearing about them is the christmas specials!! :)

Great thread!

I'll be thrilled if anyone can decipher this strange description of an animated Christmas special from about 20yrs ago. It always reminded me of Snow White. A small girl either ran away or was kidnapped to a house of male figures. She slept in a little match box. I'm thinking the men she stayed with were giants? I think her friends from her home town tried to rescue/find her and on their way, they had to slide down a big snow hill. I always loved the special. Sorry to be so cryptic. I only remember flashes of it, but it was one of my favourite Christmas specials as a child.

A BIG thank you if anyone knows what I'm talking about!!! :teeth:

RyMickey, Clamation Christmas is our absolute favorite! My kids were little in the 80's, and I happened to tape it one year...good thing because it never came back. It is now one of our family traditions. The music was just wonderful, with more of a Christmas Carol theme instead of the secular stuff. 'Joy to the World' was our favorite piece. We make an evening of watching the Grinch, Charlie Brown, and Claymation Christmas...good stuff! :)

The House Without A Christmas Tree...I think the girl main character was named Addie? Loved it!

It still airs, but its hard to catch. Nester The Long Eared Donkey. I love that movie. Anyone know if its on DVD?

Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas!! Thank god it's on dvd!

This is probably an exact opposite response, but since How the Grinch Stole Christmas is on TBS and shows 20 times per Christmas season it's lost it's appeal to us.

When it was on only once per year, there was quite the anticipation for the show, but now I don't look forward to it at all.

RyMickey, that's it! I have it on video tape somewhere. That is one of my very favorites.

"You're......a cat toy!"

I'm not exactly who's christmas show it was I think might have been Perry Como or Bob Hope but the memory brings back warm fuzzy feelings.

last year I bought "The Year Without A Santa Claus" on dvd and it also has "Nestor The Long Eared Donkey" on it. I don't know if they sell it by itself on dvd though
